A very cool adventure Robin - nice ride in. For sure a remote Bothy that one - remote enough to keep the bothy punters away for the night. What with a decent ascent of the summit and a fine nights sleep in a superbly renovated Bothy a result I'd say. Yeah, they did a good job on it. Good going. Mark
Great Bothy. Stayed there in 1990. Also really good to see the MBA updating the bothies - Ryovan was getting a new roof when we passed in May. Was there a wooden mouse in the skylight? I’ve seen a couple that have been renovated and the MBA have been leaving wooden mice there! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Graham, I didn’t spot any wooden mice but that would have been a nice touch. It was still a nice bothy without the refurbs, but another level now.
Hi Robin. Old Iron Lodge would make a cracking bothy. Loving the old hoover and sweeper thingy. Good times. I’d have thought you’d have a done a Freddie Mercury impression wi the hoover. 🤣🤣 All the best mate Dave 😃⛰🥾🏴
Another good bothy trip guys. I haven't been to that one but have cycled into Iron Lodge a few times. The lodge was certainly locked up the last time I was there about a year ago. Looks like it's going to rack and ruin now though which is a shame. Cheers
Brilliant mate very useful as me and my brother intend on staying at this bothy in July. My brother has one last Munro top to do which is Lurg Mhor east top so we will bag it via using the bothy which looks fabulous they have done a good job giving it a make over the people of North Korea are pleased excellent video take care Andy
Thay looked great, can't believe that was 3 years ago you did the cape wrath trail! I remember all that and the no signal having to get two other walkers to message your partner. What a shame about that iron lodge too, what a waste 😮
Another one I have yet to do. Plan on cycling in from Attadale not looking forward to that as did it a few years ago to climb Cheescake in and out in a day. Do not think I could do that now lol Great video BTW
Top man we will do the top first then do the ridge across to Lurg Mhor we are happy scrambling cos we do so much of it in Snowdonia so Na Bother Pal always good fun but I must confess I am nearly 60yrs old and I am not as confident as I once was but will go for it life is too short 😂
Just got back from Scotland great trip. Stayed in the bothy did my brothers last Munro top the east top of Lurg Mhor. I went across the east ridge it was intimidating like my mother in law 😅 got two thirds of way across towards main summit but was confronted by a large slab with vertical drops either side it was wet and we kept on slipping it was a nightmare to climb no hand holds or foot holds so we gave up my Korean ego was defeated but it was a wise decision anyway whilst gutted that I didn’t traverse the ridge (been on Lurg Mhor previously in winter) I had a fantastic trip and bagged the Corbetts in the area which was down to your you tube trip I watched which influenced me to climb them so thanks thought I would update you on the scramble you were right it was very dodgy ATB Andy K
@@andrewkingdom Epic mate, fine effort and probably the right decision. That means your friend has to go back for the top? I've heard that slab is tricky. Eek!
Cracking outing for you's two's... It had it all - bikes, hikes, water & a little side bet... 😊... Maybe Kev caught you hoovering through the night...? Hope he did a vid.. 😴💤.. Robinski at Night... 😂.. Thank you for sharing as always - 😎😎😎
Good idea using the bikes. Still a bit of walk to the bothy. That's a decent bothy. Vast improvement on last time. Mug shots. LOL! Cant beat a proper fire. I snore. Only proper men snore loud. That lodge would make a great bothy...
You’re lucky you got to it. When I tried to use it at the height of Summer doing the Cape Wrath Trail the river was in spate and unreachable. same applies to that river crossing! Don’t you love Summer in Scotland- horizontal rain.
I’m glad you mentioned that, because I was worried I was talking about spate conditions too much, but as you found out the bothy is well guarded in prolonged heavy rain ☔️
Thanks for uploading, Robin. Wrong on the people turning up (we said 2 too, Desmond or ballet dress - take your pick) but right on the peeing contest, sorry Kev. 🏴🏔👍
Hi Robin, I know you don't like firepot and similar meals, so have a look at Huel hot and savoury. Protein Works do a similar range. You have to use double the quantity stated but it still works out at around £4.50 per meal. The taste is acceptable, and they do give you all your nutrients. Great film, brings back my CWT. Cheers 👍
If we dun drive or bike, which is the nearest bothy if we just hike from a village that can be reach by train from London? I just came back to Singapore from Ireland to Britain for 18 days. We travel by Land Tour using coach with other 26 passengers. But I really like Scotland, one day we will be back ourselves.
Hi there, one idea is you could get the train to Corrour Station (overnight sleeper) that gives you the option of 3-4 different bothies with the option to walk out to Dalwhinnie or Fort William.
Your right Robin the MBA have done a superb job on the bothy 👏 cracking video and good banter ya pair of nutters 😂 loved the ending very clever 👌 atb Brian 👍
Love the little bets mate and also respect for leaving the bothy better than you found it. Would you recommend this trek? Looks remote and wild. We've done corrour twice if you've done that one? Wondered if you get the same remote feel? (No phone signal)
Cheers Bob, I’ve visited Corrour a few times but never stayed. Maol Bhuide bothy is well worth the trip, got a nice lonely remote feel to the place tucked away.
WARNING: Iron Lodge-asbestos hazard. Should you decide to seek shelter there. Visited the bothy when doing the Cape Wrath trail in 2021. Good video, as usual, Robin Yours aye, Norrie frae Lithgae
Transformed bothy indeed, but look, this pee test is a bit unscientific, is it not? I was expecting you's both to produce a bottle in the morning, so's they could get measured up...! I also though you'd have the place to yourselves - my pal Kev there often has similar ideas to mine!!
Big shout out to the MBA for maintaining these bothies, hard unpaid work. Wild & lonely indeed.
100% mate, fantastic work by all involved by the MBA.
What an amazing tour. Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Poland.
Thank you 😎 hope all is good in Poland 🇵🇱
I love the TV effect at the end! The bothy looks brilliant.

@@WalkWithWallace A pleasure Robin. Yeah, it was swanky even.
Great vid Robin. That certainly is one remote bothy. Cheers Lee 👍🏻
Cheers Lee. 😎
Lost on the first one but not the second. I knew that tea would have Kevin up during the night. What a great bothy, such a shame about Iron Lodge.
Haha, the peppermint & green tea is a no-no that time of the evening. 😝

chucking rocks at each other on the river crossing 🤣 Need to get my E20 out on another adventure
Haha, we can be a pair of dafties. The E20 is super useful for these tracks in.

Ha, I missed a trick with the old hoover, why didn’t I think of that? 😅
Haha am daien that next time I pass there 😂
@@Kev_Russ In the proper costume I hope! Haha

That was quite a hike and bike in Robin, but well worth it! Like whats been done with the bothy and loved the outro👍👍
Cheers Tony, the bothy is mint. I was well impressed with the refurb.
Nice one Robin , looked another good trip . The Iron lodge would make another good Bothy . Liked the wee tv shot at the end
Cheers Stevie, I would kip in one of the rooms upstairs in Iron Lodge. 📺
Class video! Loved every minute. Aye, Mugshot and a starbar, Scottish gourmet cooking., but waht an approach, location , lovely bothy. Just class.
Cheers Dave. 🔥 🥃

Time flies eh! I think I fried the InReach with the battery pack. 😂 I’m surprised they haven’t turned Iron Lodge into a wilderness retreat.
Looks like a wonderful wild place
One of my favourites 🔥
@@WalkWithWallace the Cape Wrath is on my bucket list, maybe l might see this bothy some time

Another example of fine work by yourself 📹 and the MBA🪚🔨👏👏

Cheers Eggnog, I blame the whisky personally for the snoring. 😴🥃 using bikes for the track section is a nobrainer, saving a long walk in.

Haha, fair question. He has to take both wheels off to fit the bike in his car then moved to my car later.
looks like a bomb went off Robin.... didnt their parents not teach them to clear up after themselves? the flooring looks great though.
Yeah it’s got worse in 5 years too. 🚮 at least the bothy was in good condition!
yea, nothing structurally wrong, just hope its cleaned up and back in basic order.
Can’t see it happening, saying that the owners are rich Arab Sheikhs. Could be converted into a wilderness retreat.
that would be a shame. but, you never know.
So sad that people will vandalise a solid place out in the middle of nowhere, or even leave there mess behind. 😡
Aye, not the best. Those meal packets were everywhere.
