  • What is the difference between the free code scan, your local parts store offers and the diagnostic you would pay for at a reputable shop? Why pay a professional for a diagnostic or inspection? Why do mechanics charge what they charge? Here is some insight into the topic. To sum it up, you get what you pay for. Sometimes, free comes at a higher cost. Don’t pay for unnecessary parts.. Don’t risk damaging your vehicle. Find a professional!

Bro. I stop trying to explain the difference. I blame UA-cam for creating all these mechanics.😅

i had gotten out of the automotive industry for a few years scanners were just really getting used regularly when i got back in it. i said i had been a mechanic a long time and did just fine without some machine. soon i found out i had to learn about scanners and scopes and much much more. then people would bring in vehicle and 4 02 sensors and ask me to install which i did and few days they would come back and say you didn't fix my car. i would say i didn't diag the car i just installed the parts you said you had it checked and same thing went to box store and got a scan. now when they come in i will not install any part unless i diag and make sure of what is needed.
