  • Somehow.... Palpatine returned. We all know that he had the ability to jump into a new body in Rise of Skywalker and Dark Empire, but could he do this in the other Star Wars works, where he was goading people into striking him down?

Yes, I believe Palpatine's always had essence transfer and that it was a key part of his plans. Moreover... for the longest time I've had a theory that Sidious is actually Plagueis in the body of his apprenitce, who attempted to strike him down in his sleep. It's probably not 'canon'... but it's a little headcanon of mine that I like to believe in.

    This is what I’ve believed
Palpatine has always wanted to rule the galaxy for eternity and When a new Jedi or force user that has his potential or even higher like Anakin and Luke. I believe he was planning on Using them as a vessel that would give him a much longer life and a More powerful force potential.
One of the Theory’s I saw suggested Rey was partly related to Baby Yoda Though cloning. I don’t know if the Theory would be relevant now but Imagine Palpatine using a clone Body With Anakins potential And yodas long lifespan and if Things in the bad batch went differently Omega would’ve been the key for him to do this

I think what you're saying (except for Rey when he's on life support) is Sheev's plan B. I think essence transfer into a thinking being is a gamble that's not guaranteed to work but is at least an option for him to consider

Funny enough, in Legends, Darth Bane tried it on his apprentice Darth Zannah during their final duel, and she exorcised him. Essence Transfer's a gamble not just because you need a body strong in the force to hold your soul without falling apart, but also because a potential host strong in the force also has the chance to kick out your soul. That might be why Palpatine tried using clone bodies at first as some kind of workaround?

@@johnnygyro2295 I think one of the reasons why Sheev wanted the Kaminoans was because he needed to figure out how to make backup bodies. Obviously the clone army was the main reason, but this is a secondary one. It makes his decision to "liquidate" the project in the Bad Batch more reasonable if you go under the belief he wants to focus it all into his immortality plan now that their main job is completed, and he would rather no-one else attempt the same thing. Canon-wise the sabotage of the research probably threw back development to the point when the Emperor dies he has to settle with the half-dead vessel we see in TROS

So essentially he's the Sigma of the SW universe. 6:41 yea I think he was trying to possess him. If I'm not mistaken that's the protagonist that moved an entire ship with the force?

Galen Marek, AKA Starkiller. In the games, yes, he pulled it down himself (which matches the trailer for The Force Unleashed game). In the novel, he just re-directed the Star Destroyer as it was falling. (Still a fantastic move, though. I forgot how it goes down in the comic.)
