Well, truth be told. They likely didn't do much of the fighting, the allies likely put a bunch of troops inside them. They were the battleground, not the men on it.

Reminds me of a MP game a friend and I did. I played Germany he played Portugal. I ended up mismanaging the war (And had no allies except Portugal) and while I capitulated the Soviet Union, that was after Germany was capitulated. I ended up losing no land, and got parts of Spain and colonies he lost all of Brazil and even a Portuguese state.
I would have to disagree, I find Axis wins better, specifically ones where the Axis avoids conflict with the Allies and instead focuses on dismantling Communism. Fighting Russia is Hell delivered in a thorned handbasket wrapped in snakes.

However, for some reason the Allies absorbed Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and EVEN PERMITTED THE AXIS TO EXIST!! As the comments below say, the Allies invaded Germany too late, but still gained tons of land. Why is the game so anti-Soviet?
It's the AI doing random stuff, rng, it's not scripted neither predicted. Like soviet union wanting part of France, weird as it's not in their aera of influence. Or the UK taking parts of France but not Bordeaux weirdly enough. Or italy keeping it's colonies and some territories in yugoslavia : like wtf.
