I feel like Lego might be referring to it as “The clone wars” as more of the event/war itself rather than the actual show. I’m definitely up for seeing more clone wars sets that don’t just appear in the show.
Such a great idea! You should do more MOD videos like this, as they're cheap and easy for people to get involved and engage with. Love seeing the more frequent uploads, looking forward to your first stream back in the new place 🙂
Oh dang, I actually like that canopy piece flipped. I will definitely attempt to mod mine whenever I can get it. It definitely looks better in your mod. Huh, somehow shrinking the top half made the tank look better getting rid of the redundant space.
Thanks for making this, I love showing videos like this to my kids. I especially liked that you stated your goals and tradeoffs up front. End result looks pretty nice!
I'm just glad we finally got my favorite legion of the 187th in an official LEGO set. I'm 100% down for more, and more sets with less known legions and events maybe not depicted in the show.
It’s targeted towards kids now. Play and functionality over realism. The city sets look hideous and gaudy with their bright colors and lack of realistic proportions.
To clarify on the clones, these are based off of the og Hasbro action figures for episode 3. These were legends clones that believed mace was the chosen one instead of anakin
This looks a lot better and I myself would love a tutorial of this because my republic fighter tank is on it's way and I myself would want to make exactly like that plz do a tutorial video
@@fish_R_stinky69 the proportions are better tho if you look at the reference picture. The windows, the back, the side cannons, and the middle chunk was way to bulky compared to the base
Well, I was waiting for a video like that but I didn't think you would make one, can't wait to have thoses beautifull clones. This is not just an airborn clone, it's the commander of the legion.
One thing is that I wish you gave more close-ups on the model. I would've liked to see the interior where you put the front figure, but you do so in the wide shot and I can't entirely tell what's in there.
I wanted to wait to see who was going to modify this before buying it. I wanted it for the mini figures. I am glad you are here, and the first one to make the changes.
I would really appreciate a tutorial on how to make this as I really don't like them look they made but I love yours and it could definitely lead to me purchasing a few to add to my collection for an army instead of just not getting this set.
Bro, that looks way better than the set. I wish they did it your way becuase maybe we could've had a smaller price for it. But I love you man you are an amazing builder and a gret person.
Great redesign! It looks way better. I think Lego went in the wrong direction with basing it off of the new battlefront 2 ‘s fighter tank they should of based it off of the original battlefront 2s one cause it’s just a better design and has a lot less flat 90 degrees angles
It is actually based on the old model. static.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/2/2b/CW_Tank.jpg/revision/latest/top-crop/width/360/height/360?cb=20060319125541 The sticker detail gives it away.
Mace Windu used the 91st recon core troopers throughout the seven seasons of the clone wars. The 187th was a legends clone trooper legion that was brought by hasbro in 2005. It would be awesome if it became canon again.
The clones in the set are from Legends, the old canon, and LEGO probably took inspiration from Hasbro, not realizing that the 187th aren’t from the new Disney Canon, and if they did, they probably reckoned the old ones would sell better. That’s just my two-cents.
The very first Lego fighter tank that came out I thought was the best one. It just needs some work on the top and that’s it to make it even more awesome
Great work man. Appreciate your effort in fixing the fighter tank but I don't quite like where the middle section of the tank is very small although a figure is possible to fit. I still prefer the one from Lego where the figure can lie down or sit up. Lego all the way!
He did it so it can be more accurate, the proportions are great, but I think if he revised his mod again, he could probably pull off best of both worlds in the end
I really like the overall design of your redesign. My only gripe about it though is that the canopy piece use on the nose of the tank now narrows in the wrong spot.
Hi, great video! The figures attract me, but the construction is just bad, so I will definitely try this procedure. It's great and I'd love for you to do the tutorial.
The clones wars base is the event. Using design cues from both the films and animation in order to create a unified thing. That way they can make clone legions and all these wonderful figs we’ve had so far without worrying about doing two different designs. I also prefer the purple markings and heavy armour pauldrons they’ve gone with because they look closer to what they were originally supposed to look like in legends. It’s also my favourite colour :)
I would like to see a tutorial personally! It sounds like you might be tweaking the design, so maybe wait until you have things finalized. But I would love a tutorial.
Your mod totally improved the overall appearance of the set! The only thing I would change or modify is the lower area where you can place a mini figure. I’d modify it to where the mini fig could sit facing forward. But all in all, you made it easier for me to purchase the set! Thanks
This is a new issue because my first fighter tank didn't have this problem, but Lego must have modified the round 4x4 brick for the guns because mine are now floppy. There is no tension between the technic pin and the mounted cannon. I think Lego modified the round 4x4 and forgot how it's original design was integral to the function of this tank's cannons.
you came up with a really good fix, but the older set I already have two copies of does the job so no need for it unless somebody wants the minifigs ofc
The 187th clones are based more off of the comics of star wars having a more shock trooper reminiscent design with purple and blue markings, while those on anaxes are also 187th
Since when does LEGO care about accuracy when it comes to Star Wars products? I mean they gave us a clone commander in the UCS Gunship and called it a pilot.
Tutorial plz I’m trying to build a clone army ( with 501st and 187th clones) and and I want to modify my republic fighter tank so I think it will add on nicely
Love the redesign. I usually like to build the LEGO set as LEGO designed and sold it, but this is one I will definitely try. Please do more content like this and please post some more pictures of this project.
I feel like Lego might be referring to it as “The clone wars” as more of the event/war itself rather than the actual show. I’m definitely up for seeing more clone wars sets that don’t just appear in the show.
I agree, but there’s Lowkey no point in doing that as there’s still hundreds of clone wars sets they could make.
Is that the excuse for why they UCS gunship said “as seen in star wars the clone wars” rather than Attack of the Clones?
@@bacondorito well the gunships are in the clone wars too
@@themanwhowouldbebrick true but the minifigs are clearly EP II based. And the doors close all the way in TCW, only half way in the movies
Exactly the Clone Wars can include episode 1 and 2 instead of only the cartoon show.
The trooper design is based of some hasbro action figures.
So that's why they look different.
Dang you beat me to it.
Are the ones in clone wars s7 even 187th? I alwasy thought they were 91st
@@leko7234 The ones in the show were never said to be the 187th. They were just know as Mace's Unit.
Tbh, I think the legends designs are better for clones that fight with Mace.
And the airborne trooper is a commander, he just uses the airborne helmet.
Looks way better than the official set love to see a tutorial
This looks great! I'm definitely going to take a crack at reverse engineering your design, and I wouldn't say no to a tutorial of some sort:)
If you figure out how to copy the design could you upload it?
@@k.f.cchicken2807 That's a good idea! It's been a while since I uploaded anything...
The Brickster if you do that’d be appreciated
Would also appreciate this, particularly if you include a bricklink list of all the required extra parts.
@The Brickster If you figure it out instructions would be great
This does look really good. I’d love if you made a tutorial showing the parts list and how you went about it
Would love a short tutorial on the steps you took. I want to see if I can use your design, while also using as few extra parts as possible
Such a great idea! You should do more MOD videos like this, as they're cheap and easy for people to get involved and engage with. Love seeing the more frequent uploads, looking forward to your first stream back in the new place 🙂
Yes! Part list would be great! Your version looks fantastic. I agree with your mod decisions. Nice work!
I love the purple troopers. They just fit Mace Windu so well, only reason I’m getting the set
Oh dang, I actually like that canopy piece flipped. I will definitely attempt to mod mine whenever I can get it.
It definitely looks better in your mod.
Huh, somehow shrinking the top half made the tank look better getting rid of the redundant space.
The purple 187th troopers are based off of an old Hasbro Battle Pack before TCW show. It's a cool throwback I never thought Lego would do.
Thanks for making this, I love showing videos like this to my kids. I especially liked that you stated your goals and tradeoffs up front. End result looks pretty nice!
Just got mine recently! Love the figures~ a tutorial to improve the tank would be pretty neat though.

The design has grown on me but the sides are just too plain
Nice username
The clones from the clone wars weren't 187th, they were 91st recon corp or something like so
Instructions and a list of extra parts outside of the actual set would be so nice.
That looks so good, I love lego but I don't understand how they aren't able to make accurate and playable sets like they used to.
It’s targeted towards kids now. Play and functionality over realism. The city sets look hideous and gaudy with their bright colors and lack of realistic proportions.

I did a similar thing but I just removed the gray bricks at the back and used 1 by 4 slopes for the side and added some side detailing
187th legion had purple markings, the 91st recon and the others have reddish brown/dark red markings like during the liberation of ryloth arc
The very first Lego fighter tank that came out I thought was the best one. It just needs some work on the top and that’s it to make it even more awesome
