Look What I Caught in the River Flood! 🌊 🎣

The River was in flood after lots of rain 🌧️ I’ve heard it can sometimes be the perfect time to catch certain species such as barbel and chub that will hold up in the slack waters and eddies along the river bank. I hit a few swims along the river in the morning to no avail, I then thought I’d hit a smaller tributary of the river on the way home for a few hours - which I found to be more productive. I just wish I could’ve stayed to catch a few more 😅🎣

I used to do exactly what you did with luncheon meat. Cut it into a square and hook it.
Then I changed my tactics.
Use a hair rig with a Korum Quickstop _(I'm sure there are other similar available!)._ They are attached to your hair when you're making it. You push it through the meat using a baiting needle. But I'd also rip of chunks of meat so it wasn't uniform in shape.
The amount of fish I caught went up and so did the quality. How many times in nature is a fish going to find something square or rectangular in shape?
But a nice pair of Chub in difficult conditions 8-))...
