got an 07 murano that started choking out on me during low speeds. Throttle completely dies in middle of traffic and battery and brake light come on and off randomly. And then it decides to go when it wants to or either stays in limp mode. A new battery fixed it for about a day and then it started wanting to do it again. i think it’s time for a new alternator. I already have it, how much you think they’ll charge just to install it?
Really hard to say. I've seen prices vary and can get expensive. Make sure to check the valve cover as well. If the valve cover is leaking, it could malfunction the new alternator.
Oil damaged my alternator and I have replaced a new alternator drove the car for two days packed it for some days I went back to the car found out the battery is completely drained. The day that the alternator was installed I noticed the nissan battery warning light didn't show up on the dashboard I don't know if it blow up or but when it was installed it was working fine
Do you have any way to check the battery? I have a battery charger that also checks the voltage. If you do have one, I would get someone with jumper cables and jump you off to get you started and with the battery charger hooked up, see if the new alternator is doing its job keeping the battery charged and watch and see what the voltage is reading when you do this. Batteries normally last 3 years. If your battery is over 3 years old, it's probably time to buy a new battery. But a battery charger will tell you if it's the battery or your alternator. Hope this helps. Let us know how it turned out for you.
I am in a similar befuddling situation. My vehicle started fine, I drove to the gas station and filled up. Started fine, then as I pulled out onto the road the engine lost power and I limped to the side of the road. Then put it in park and turned it off. Tried starting it and it wouldn't turn over- just a clicking in the engine compartment. Then the ABS light came on the dash, the parking brake light (which wasn't deployed) and then slowly the hazards blinked out and stopped and I couldn't even roll my electric windows up. I got a boost and made it to the mechanic. They replaced the battery then the following day the same thing happened. Got to work fine, started up great. Then after work put it in Reverse and nothing...no power. Boosted it but died at the first red stop light and limped off the road. Towed it to the mechanic. It sat for 2 days at the mechanics and they told me it started for them right away... which is strange seeing as the battery was so dead the second time it still wouldn't roll the windows up without a boost...sounds like it is either oil leaking onto the alternator OR the accelerator pedal which I have seen a few people comment on with this similar issue.
I feel for you. When they go into limp mode the battery is low on charge. If you properly charge a good battery you can drive around for a couple hours then it will repeat the failure symptoms assuming the alternator is not charging which I have witnessed four times (four different alternators) on my customers car. I think oil damage is highly suspect as is the accelerator pedal. Your mechanic probably put a new or rebuilt alternator in. If it's not Nissan, good luck. The timer is running before it fails. I'm returning the new one from Advance Auto I purchased that failed after a month and I bought that right after I returned the failed rebuilt one I bought from Advance auto. Im buying a used Nissan one from a salvage yard from a Murano with 50k miles. I'm getting really good at replacing them. I take the radiator out and it's so much easier.
I have a 2010 and I was driving back from the market and I had to same problem was like stuck in limp mode then I got back into front of my house I smelled like burnt wires I open my hood and I’m looking at the starter because there’s smoke coming from there and my wires was melted well that mean my alternator is no good?
I got same issues. Valve cover leaked oil all over alternator. Im wondering if I can clean it without removing with CRC cleaner. Also I heard Muranos dont like aftermarket alternators so may be a problem in future
Wouldn't hurt to try it. I would also try CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. I've used it on other electronic connections and it really cleans. Maybe it would work on the alternator as well. Oreilly's has it.
I replaced the whole valve cover. There is o-rings/gaskets around the spark plug holes of the valve cover that you can't get with just the gasket. And around the spark plugs in the valve cover will leak oil as well.
Please i am using nissan murano 2004 I need to ask some questions call I give you a call because this nissan murano 2004 is really giving pain getting frustrated
I think I have the same issue. After replacing valve covers one of the bolts (which is close to the alternator) was loose from the vibration and leaking oil. I was driving at night and my car lost power I was not able to accelerate and ABS and Brake lights were flashing. I pulled over; when the car is on P running on idle ABS and Brake lights were still flashing. I tried to drive but the car was not accelerating, it was kind of dying. After 8-10 min.idling I was able to drive it to the gas station which was .1/4 mile away very slow. I towed it home the next morning. Now, there is no lights on the dashboard. I tested the battery and the alternator with a multimeter. The battery shows 12.4V while the ignition is off. When the car is running it is 14.2V and slowly decreases to 12.9 after 20 min. running with the lights and A/C on. Do you think it is the alternator?
Yes, it was the oil leaking from the front valve cover down onto the alternator killing the alternator. Replaced the front valve cover and O'Reilleys warranteed the alternator and it's been running great since.
I have same problem with my 05 ,nobody can tell for sure what problem is,I watched all videos, changed alt. Battery, countless sensors..nothing has worked....nobody knows !
Great video! Thank you

I should mention that they tested the alternator which showed fine but they are retesting it today given it died again.

So were you talking about changing the valve cover itself or did you mean the valve cover gasket?

How much was the alternator at O'Reilly's?
Seems like it was around 150 for a reman.
Im having problem with my merano going in limp mode or low voltage mode i think i have to replace my alternator and battery....
I think you are correct. Let us know how it comes out for you.
My Murano was going into limp mode and found the culprit being the Excelerator pedal
Found me a used one and been excellent since

It does sound like the same thing. I would check closely to see if oil is leaking from the valve cover gasket.
@@alansunday was it the oil on the alternator? I am having same issue

Change the fuses next to the positive part of the battery.
Dude u talkn 2 much n explaining unnecessary suff about car we just wont 2 know how 2 fix it u talkn 2 dame much..!!! L🤣L
If he was not talking too much how could we have known his cousin was out in the country.
