Great job on the vid. 👍 I have seen a few other Holley Sniper videos with the same symptom (backfiring, pressure too high). Seems like a weak point in their design. Sounds like they are aware of that.

great point! Holley is a great company... that diaphragm fuel regulator seems jankey. I ended up biting the bullet and going with an external pressure regulator - Holley 12-882. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!

Man.. thanks for sharing that video.. best part is when you started enjoying drinking coffee.. just installed the EFI and i'm running into an issue after the other one.. I feel like I can't even drive around the block for once. my point is, it seems like I am not the only one who feels like as soon as you got something done, something else is not adding up ans it needs to get done..

The baseline was 1.20 msec, and once I narrowed down through trial & error, that 1.70 msec was too high (coast AFR went to 12), and 1.60 msec was too low (coast AFR went to 20). I settled on 1.64 msec. I was surprised at how much of an impact just .01 msec would have.

thanks for watching! honestly it's been pretty frustrating. Holley customer service is great, and there are tons of forums to get help and info. but I've finagled this thing over and over. every time I feel like I get it dialed, something else starts happening. I will say, though - living in the Pacific Northwest, with hot summers and snowy winters, it does fire up every time. nice not to have to mess with adjusting a carburetor for winter, then again for summer... kinda the reason why I went efi to begin with. I don't have experience with other brands of efi. I do know a guy who used the FAST one, and he seemed to like it a lot...

Have 351w stroker 410 and the sniper ran good at first……then richened up and fouled the plugs, oil was black after 100 miles too, started smoking on deceleration, smelled strong like fuel. We’re trying the O2 sensor and then high fuel pressure. It’s a mystery. It’s why people do newer crate swaps or go back to carbs. These efi systems for the four barrel intakes have a long way to go to be consumer friendly.

The FPR in the sniper is garbage, I had to replace mine cause it was running at 100psi. Put the new one in and within the first 40 miles it was running at 100psi again. So I bought an aeromotive

what did you ever find out . this is happening to me . I had 80 psi going in so I put a psi regulator with a return line on it and turned it down to 58 1/2 psi and that helped but did not solve the back firing . I would like to find out why it running so crappy. Please tell me if you solved the problem

well... that internal diaphragm type pressure regulator seems pretty jankey, so I ended up installing an external fuel pressure regulator - Holley 12-882 - and now it seems to be functioning... buuuut... after pulling the engine the cam was completely shot... so that was definitely the issue with the backfiring. it was a stock cam with stock flat tappet lifters... anyway, I hope that helps. thanks for watching!!!

weeellllll.... I ended up going with an external regulator. then I pulled the engine, took it apart... found lots of issues, flat cam, worn lifters, worn cylinder walls... took it to the machine shop, they found a crack in the oil valley. so now it's sitting in my shop waiting to be turned into a fire pit. I have a 383 for my truck I'm waiting to build. so, "fixed" it by throwing the old motor back in there. I'm actually working on a follow up video where I chase down all the possible issues... stay tuned for that
