  • Flying Triangles are often seen as a flashy move, but it is actually a very effective technique to develop a strong stand up game. Even if you have weak takedowns just the threat of the move can massively disrupt your opponents confidence in his takedowns because he was to worry about your attacks. Next video comprehensive on passing the de la riva guard coming out next week.

    Great video, to be honest i doubt i would ever attempt this move prior to watching this video. The instructions make alot of sense especially with right leg catching to support your weight.

    For self defense in the streets, you can do the flying triangle still. To avoid the slam I don't let my opponent hold me up, once your traingle locks in use the momentum of yourself falling combined with gravity to whip the guy's head/shoulder down into the ground as you fall leaning towards his most unbalanced side, once he falls usually it'll turn into a mounted triangle but if not, you have a normal triangle plus you slammed him. He'd have to be 100 lb heavier than you for him to withstand that amount of force manipulating his neck, head, and shoulders.

      Chris Hickman it’s high risk high reward, which usually is the type of move you don’t want to use in a street fight, but if you see the opportunity, as any “rule” in a street fight, if it works it works, just mind your surroundings

      A flying armbar is probably a better option in a street fight. Done correctly it will take your opponent down so they can't slam you.

      hook your arm through the leg so they cant lift you. can probably swing them to mount at this point and deal with the situation however you please

    I know this video is 4 years old but is there a chance that the opponent can get injured by suddenly carrying your weight? Obviously in the demo, he is expecting and knowing he will receive a flying triangle but I am curious if in a competition or gym roll, although not direct but due to having to carry a person's weight, what is the probability of knee injury?

    • @LilHoss4k
      @LilHoss4k 11 місяців тому

      There's a possibility. You shouldn't try this in competitions because you can break your own neck since your competitor is unlikely to support your weight and keep you up. Basically if you do it improperly even on a padded mat if your opponent doesn't support your weight you can break your neck due to the whole motion.
