I saw them in 1999 for the Darkest Days tour, and the crowd was really energetic. I saw them again in 2017, and you had the old "Too many cell phones in the air schtick". Although, at one point, Christopher did grab one of the phones out of the hands of a person and did a panorama of the room and stage before handing it back. So, I guess that person has some good memories on camera app now.

They opened for KISS during the 1996 reunion tour and blew the lid off the San José Sharks Arena. Damn, I miss them. One of the best live bands I ever saw.
I saw them in sacramento on that tour. Thought it was an odd pairing. I like SW... But was surprised they got th opening gig. They kicked ass. Then KISS brought the place to a head and blew it up! Awesome show!
I like how they realized the obsessive nature of the lyrics and play into that for the plot of the video. Christopher has got some pipes on him. The video is great too. Nice story line. Great acting. Good humor from the band. 10/10
I was visiting a friend of a friend over spring break, and he kept flipping on the TV and checking MTV. "Damn, it's not on." And then day 4..."THIS IS IT! EVERYONE GET IN HERE NOW!!" And that's how I was introduced to Stabbing Westward and this video.
I first discovered Stabbing Westward when I was a kid back in the mid 90's. I think it was 96 or 97. It was late one night and I had MTV on. This music video came on and I was instantly obsessed. So glad I did. I've been a SW fan ever since.
From divorce to addiction and then the most toxic relationship of my life....this band played in the background. That's a compliment....and these songs still give me life today.
Remember blasting this in my 89 dodge Daytona back in 96 … 2 Orion xtr 10” Orion amps , and eclipse head unit & speakers ! Man I wanna go back for one day !
My high school 87 Grand Prix sound system was built for this track. 18" sub in trunk, two 10" bass tubes in the back seat. Still enough room to seat 6 people. Turned your insides into jelly.
Stabbing Westward is the perfect combo of power bass, slightly mentally disturbed lyrics, and a frontman with the voice of a modern fallen angel. Dark, disturbed, yet seeking.....that is the feeling one has when listening to this band. And they just don't make them like this anymore!
4 years late. I found a band doing a similar sound but doing their own thing with it. Check out Thornhill's track 'Arkangel' ua-cam.com/video/ew04Md9YUvk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UNFD
I just realized how many stalkerish songs there were then. Garbage released "#1 Crush" in 1995, then Stabbing Westward came out with this one in 1996, and then in 1997 Portishead came out with "All Mine." What a great time for music.
those were good times. i was in high school in those days. yet, i was aware that trent reznor did have a problem with stabbing westward but he was conflicted since the drummer at that time was someone he used to play with in the exotic birds and played drums on the title track to "the downward spiral". i think the reason stabbing westward got pushed immensely at that time because NIN got successful and every record company wanted to get every band that sounded like NIN during a time when trent was inactive.
My # 1 song favourite from this band. 26 years ago when I first heard of this, Save yourself and What do I have to do. Seems like it was just yesterday but still I miss the rock hits of the 90s. Thanks UA-cam. With ♥️ from the Philippines.👍✌️🤘😉
I saw one of the two shows they did in 2017 (might be the year before) in Philly. He's still awesome. Got to meet him and the bass player who also plays bass for Orgy. That was an epic night! Fulfilled a dream of mine I had since I was 14.
Being a extreme metal head for over 25 years and a teenager in the 90s, I never gave bands like Stabbing, Gravity Kills, Filter etc much thought back then. I appreciate the hell out of them more now in the last few years. Love it now.
These guys got me through my teen years in the 90s and here it is 2019 and my dad passed away Christmas morning by my side so back they come to help some more R. I.P dad we all miss you so so much
Wither, Blister, Burn and Peel and parts of Darkest Days are almost a biography of My first marriage and the subsequent divorce. I was so wrapped up in the relationship that when in it ended I didn't want to go on. The closest I got was playing chicken with Semi-Trucks. In the music I found a shared pain that helped Me cope and carry on. Chris's lyrics were literally therapy.
I like 90s better than 70s 80s!!!! I’m used to these songs I love. My sons as teenagers played these. God I love these songs. Sing to them everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember in highschool, one time my boyfriend and I broke up and got back together, he wrote me a letter that had some of the lyrics to this song in it. I took him back and remember being impressed that he knew who Stabbing Westward was. Sadly, we met too early in life, had we met as adults, there could've been something. We stayed very close and always loved eachother though. Sadly he passed away about eleven years ago when we were 28. He never got the chance to get married or be a father, which he would have been wonderful. It was always bad timing with us. I miss him. Great song, great band, so glad I grew up with some good music.
Saw them live on the 20th Anniversary Tour for Darkest Days 2 years ago. Chris sounded as amazing as ever.... hit every single note like he hadn't missed a beat.
I have a love/hate relationship with this song, it's a great song but I was stalked in college when I lived in the dorms and it brings back bad memories. Love the music and they definitely got the obsessed mindset right!
They are always awesome. I saw the band in Portland Oregon on Nov 2017. I still have a pic taken with them. I had always loved them. Not only were they great musically speaking; but they are gems 💎 as human beings! Real sweethearts. I have the upmost respect for them! 🤎

How can I exist without you
I'm wandering around confused
Wondering why I tried
The more that you deny my pain
The more it intensifies
I pray for someone to ache for me
The way I ache for you
If you ignore that I'm alive
I've nothing to cling to
I don't know if I am real without you
What is left of me without you
I don't know what's real without you
How can I exist without you
I stare into this mirror
So tired of this life
If only you would speak to me
Or cared if I'm alive
Once I swore I would die for you
But I never meant like this

No I never meant like this

Ahh.. I saw them twice live in the 90's ... Still get goosebumps
Lucky you.
They opened for KISS during the 1996 reunion tour and blew the lid off the San José Sharks Arena. Damn, I miss them. One of the best live bands I ever saw.
yeah they also opened for Depeche Mode I was really close to stage and the lead singer was crazy and it was so loud but he was really into it lol
I saw them in sacramento on that tour. Thought it was an odd pairing. I like SW... But was surprised they got th opening gig. They kicked ass. Then KISS brought the place to a head and blew it up! Awesome show!
@@dmsalvador8303 . was that in oakland Dec. 11th? I believe I was there. Awesome show. Good combo.
EVERYONE GET IN HERE NOW!!"
And that's how I was introduced to Stabbing Westward and this video.
I first discovered Stabbing Westward when I was a kid back in the mid 90's. I think it was 96 or 97. It was late one night and I had MTV on. This music video came on and I was instantly obsessed. So glad I did. I've been a SW fan ever since.
Same here. I was born in 1984. I discovered them one morning when MTV's rude awakening was on, and have been a fan ever since 🍻
Same here I saw them on MTV in like 1996 and also hearing them on the radio. I was 7 at the time.
From divorce to addiction and then the most toxic relationship of my life....this band played in the background. That's a compliment....and these songs still give me life today.
I think this video absolutely needs to be re-scaned and re-uploaded in 4K.
my favorite music video of all videos
Remember blasting this in my 89 dodge Daytona back in 96 … 2 Orion xtr 10” Orion amps , and eclipse head unit & speakers ! Man I wanna go back for one day !
In 1996 I was blasting this in my 87 Dodge Daytona. I had two 12 inch XTRs. lol. Gotta love the 90s.
Agreed
Well put
4 years late. I found a band doing a similar sound but doing their own thing with it. Check out Thornhill's track 'Arkangel' ua-cam.com/video/ew04Md9YUvk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=UNFD
Bass player is in Orgy too
The drummer 😂
Hes the next john Bonham. I get a kick out of him tbh😂
So glad I saw these guys in 1997, I was 15. Still love them!
Probably the 1 band I really regret not ever seeing live.
Saw them at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia and it was baller.
@@DWRoelands since making this comment, I caught their 2019 tour in San Diego. Great show.
Awesome live band!
3:36 that shot is so iconic in my mind!!!
I just realized how many stalkerish songs there were then. Garbage released "#1 Crush" in 1995, then Stabbing Westward came out with this one in 1996, and then in 1997 Portishead came out with "All Mine." What a great time for music.
Heck most of Stabbing Westward's songs are about messed up relationships.
He wrote a whole album for a girl he lost ..all stalking
those were good times. i was in high school in those days. yet, i was aware that trent reznor did have a problem with stabbing westward but he was conflicted since the drummer at that time was someone he used to play with in the exotic birds and played drums on the title track to "the downward spiral". i think the reason stabbing westward got pushed immensely at that time because NIN got successful and every record company wanted to get every band that sounded like NIN during a time when trent was inactive.
This was my teen anthem. Chicago bands are awesome!
The 90's was such a golden age for Chicago music.
Ive seen these guys twice and his voice is great after all these years
I'm 67 years old and love this music
Top 5 videos of all time, imo.
Legends in their own write.
This is real. I'm lost everyday.I appreciate this song, hits my heart and life hard thanks Stabbing Westward
Only 2.4 million views? One of my favorite music videos, from when bands were creative with their videos.
I saw one of the two shows they did in 2017 (might be the year before) in Philly. He's still awesome. Got to meet him and the bass player who also plays bass for Orgy. That was an epic night! Fulfilled a dream of mine I had since I was 14.
They are going to be in NYC next month 😊
This video has far better script than 99% of movies out there.
Fuuuck...I forgot how much I love this band!
Being a extreme metal head for over 25 years and a teenager in the 90s, I never gave bands like Stabbing, Gravity Kills, Filter etc much thought back then. I appreciate the hell out of them more now in the last few years. Love it now.
the beat of this song gives me chills when I play it in my truck, I have a total sound package and it sounds amazing. I love this song so much.
This will still get heads banging a hundred years from now.
I miss the 90s
Back when we knew how to make kick ass music. I miss Stabbing Westward.... Twisted. Real. Raw.
I saw these guys live in 99 and it was my fourth concert ever and the first time I crowd surfed.
Dope
They were my first. Sadly they broke up right after that
good times
Me too zeta fest 99 south Florida
These guys got me through my teen years in the 90s and here it is 2019 and my dad passed away Christmas morning by my side so back they come to help some more
R. I.P dad we all miss you so so much
Its 3 years late but really sorry about your dad. Hope you are ok.
They got me through my teens too, man. Sorry about your dad.
It's been Years ago and healing 😔 finally
HELLO JULIE!! How can I exist without you!😮
This makes me grieve the fact that David Bowie (😢 RIP) never, to my knowledge, covered "something in the way." It's too beautiful.
- Maybe we should get Christopher.
- Naw man he's jamming.
Cool name
I love that moment lol
Best part
One of the best music videos of all time.
This song still rocks so fucking much to this day and always will!!! You cannot help but head bang when that iconic guitar riff kicks in!
Damn this song never gets old! I bought "Wither, Blister, Burn, & Peel" way back in day. This and "Shame" were by far the best songs on that CD!
Oh does this ever bring back memories. Old school!
I want a boyfriend who knows who Stabbing Westward are, and still has the 90s grunge look.
Shit... I just love it.
Amazing!
It's been a year. I'll bet you're still single AF.
Me too, where is my Chris Cornell? I still love Grunge, come to my page it's the Chris Cornell Fanclub on FB.
I’m here. Lol
Maximus Max I am still single AF, because I have standards!
IntoTheMindlessAbyss hit me up ;) haha
@@chrissimpson6701 Hells yes! I just joined ;)
This band literally saved My life....... I got the chance to tell Chris that in person a couple years ago at The Dreaming concert, great guy!
I miss him.
Great song, great band, so glad I grew up with some good music.
this song rocked back in the day. they were awsome live too. still love these songs.
One of my all time favs
I remember this song and it still kicks ass to this day!!!! I miss the 90's!!
WHAT A VOICE !!!
Clearly one of the most underrated "industrial metal" bands ever...
Saw them live on the 20th Anniversary Tour for Darkest Days 2 years ago. Chris sounded as amazing as ever.... hit every single note like he hadn't missed a beat.
This is the first SW song I ever heard. Played on the radio in the summer of 1997.
I’ve been trying to remember this song for years. I used to listen to this cassette all the time as a teen.
2022 and this song still kicks ass!!
I have a love/hate relationship with this song, it's a great song but I was stalked in college when I lived in the dorms and it brings back bad memories. Love the music and they definitely got the obsessed mindset right!
23 years later and this song is still just as amazing as the first time I heard it!
Yes great memories 🎉❤I’m still listening!!❤❤
They are always awesome. I saw the band in Portland Oregon on Nov 2017. I still have a pic taken with them. I had always loved them. Not only were they great musically speaking; but they are gems 💎 as human beings! Real sweethearts. I have the upmost respect for them! 🤎
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SONGS........LOVE IT
This is my favorite music video of all time.
