    Lyrics:
I only see myself reflected in your eyes
So all that I believe I am essentially are lies
And everything I've hoped to be or ever thought I was
Died with your belief in me so who the hell am I?
    I'm wondering 'round confused
    Wondering why I try
The more that you deny my pain
    The more it intensifies...
I pray for someone to ache for me the way I ache for you...
If you ignore that I'm alive
    I've nothing to cling to

+nicholas biddle I put them on this list because they were an important part of the early hard edged alternative sound of the 90's. It is also good to name check a band like them to help get them better recognition to some people who may have not heard of them. Who cares whether they belong on this list. They belong on a list of important 90's metal/altetnative.

Facts…It was an amazing concert year that year when 311 absolutely blew TF up I saw them around 32 times that summer of 96. Not that anyone cares but this song was a double edged sword bc I was dating this amazing woman & she was cool but I guess I did t have what it took to keep her. I used to always pretend to be the psycho guy in this video chasing around that dumb girl who actually reminded me a lot about her.I wish I could go back to the summer of 1996 & kick my own ass and tell the girl to royally KISS my ass & dump TF out her…Ahhh that was actually kind of cathartic getting that off my chest…She ended marrying a complete dork who starting balding at 17…Go get em dummy 🫵🏻🤮

I saw them in 1999 for the Darkest Days tour, and the crowd was really energetic. I saw them again in 2017, and you had the old "Too many cell phones in the air schtick". Although, at one point, Christopher did grab one of the phones out of the hands of a person and did a panorama of the room and stage before handing it back. So, I guess that person has some good memories on camera app now.

I just realized how many stalkerish songs there were then. Garbage released "#1 Crush" in 1995, then Stabbing Westward came out with this one in 1996, and then in 1997 Portishead came out with "All Mine." What a great time for music.

those were good times. i was in high school in those days. yet, i was aware that trent reznor did have a problem with stabbing westward but he was conflicted since the drummer at that time was someone he used to play with in the exotic birds and played drums on the title track to "the downward spiral". i think the reason stabbing westward got pushed immensely at that time because NIN got successful and every record company wanted to get every band that sounded like NIN during a time when trent was inactive.

Stabbing Westward is the perfect combo of power bass, slightly mentally disturbed lyrics, and a frontman with the voice of a modern fallen angel. Dark, disturbed, yet seeking.....that is the feeling one has when listening to this band. And they just don't make them like this anymore!

Wither, Blister, Burn and Peel and parts of Darkest Days are almost a biography of My first marriage and the subsequent divorce. I was so wrapped up in the relationship that when in it ended I didn't want to go on. The closest I got was playing chicken with Semi-Trucks. In the music I found a shared pain that helped Me cope and carry on. Chris's lyrics were literally therapy.

I took him back and remember being impressed that he knew who Stabbing Westward was. Sadly, we met too early in life, had we met as adults, there could've been something. We stayed very close and always loved eachother though. Sadly he passed away about eleven years ago when we were 28.
