      They wear very similarly on me! The Tatcha hangs onto blush/bronzer/highlight for longer and is a tiny bit more pore filling but those are very minor differences considering the very large price difference.

      Walmart and CVS are 2 other places to check! My CVS has expanded its Elf section to be as big as the other major brands. I haven't checked there yet but I'm hoping I can find a backup! And the Dior Skin Glow is vying for the top spot in my favorite foundations right now. It's so beautiful.

    Yep. I have both and am always amazed at how similar they are. Both help my makeup last significantly longer than most other primers I've used. I actually picked up an extra ELF when they first came to my Walmart and am super glad I did.

    • @michellesmith702
      @michellesmith702 5 років тому

      It's probably so selfish but I take a certain satisfaction whenever I see the backup sitting in the makeup cabinet. After years of having no solutions for my skin conditions, us oldies deserve our little indulgences 😉

    • @goow

      It's like, makeup and TV shows - as soon as I fall in love with one, it gets discontinued! So I always get backups of my favorite makeup in case it vanishes! 😂I probably use the "I'm old. I've earned it!" excuse a bit too much!

    I paused the video to post this. I did a 3product side by side in various combinations. Tatcha, Elf, Tarte Timeless in that pot. Primers andI don't get along. Zero difference at the start, zero difference after a few hours. Zero meaning when I used no primer on one side and one of the primers on the other side, no difference. I think I have a 2 part video about purging my 62 primer collection. Ugh. P.S. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Cheers, Lulu

    • @goow
      @goow  5 років тому

      I have almost the opposite issue where if I use no primer, just about every single foundation breaks down and breaks up after just a few hours. I don't know what it is about my body chemistry but even my favorite foundations go bust without primer. I could stand to do a primer declutter though - I have quite a few that I rarely use that my cousins could get better use from!

      Very very similar! And that's why I do the close-ups so you guys can draw your own conclusions (which can totally be different than mine!) If it's anything like some of the previous Elf big hits (like the SPF primer last year), once it comes back in stock it'll be everywhere. It's like they test their new products with small quantities and when they take off, then they mass-produce. It seems that way, anyway!

    This is like when I test out recipes for similar meals. Some are super fussy, but sooo delicious that I’ll go to that one every time (I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that requires browning the butter, a complicated mixing procedure, and at least an hour to chill the dough. Very much worth it). Others are like 50% more complicated, but only yield a 10% improvement over the easier recipes (there is no point to dredging the chicken breasts in flour for your “easy, weeknight pan sautéed” recipe). I’m just about out of my current primer, and I was going to try the Tatcha, but now that I’ve seen your results, I’m only trying it if I have some Sephora gift cards and I can get the trial size. Don’t know whether the price/performance ratio will be more Fussy Chocolate Chip Cookie or America’s Test Kitchen.

      Personally, the Tatcha is like the chocolate chip cookies for me. I so much enjoy the packaging and the scent and the whole experience of using it that it's highly likely I'll repurchase it. That said, I'll definitely work in the Elf some days to keep the daily cost of my face down! 😂

    Love this review, I want the more pore filler, so Tatcha still on my list, but buying elf for everyday. Thanks so much! Bought your recommended concealers from other reviews yesterday. Found Chanel Ultra works and doesn’t settle, but it isn’t great, had to return the Chanel Les Bieges, that was horrible, don’t waste your money. The Velvet, Chanel, wasn’t any good either. Got the samples for this Dior, I am your same color so far in all, for winter. Love love your reviews! BTW, son loved the owl funny video. Also trying Revlon photo ready candid, according to your videos! And trying Bareminersls stick, will see. Love your list link for all the foundations and their rating, constantly referring to it. Worth a shot - I find that when I have ingredient sensitivities it's usually to the natural ingredients and extracts. The Elf does have fewer, while still having the same base - so maybe it's missing whatever your skin doesn't like in the Tatcha!

    • @iamqueenkk
      @iamqueenkk 5 років тому

      Thank you for responding. It’s weird for me, I’m sensitive to traditional “sensitive skin” products like cetaphil and moo goo (I’m not sure if those are available outside Australia) and to ingredients like cucumber and rosehip (which are in so many sensitive skin brands) and since I’ve moved away from skincare with parabens and mineral oil I seem to have stopped having reactions. So I have found my best option is to buy all my skincare from Korea. Sadly the elf is hard to get from Australia - they seem to have only released a very small portion of their line here. It’s also not on iHerb which is my backup source when drugstore stuff isn’t sold in Australia.

    • @goow
      @goow  5 років тому

      My skin definitely loves Korean skin care. I haven't switched all of my products but I've incorporated quite a few. The face mask subscription I use, Facetory, is all K brands and I haven't had a negative reaction to a single one in almost a year of using them.

      Geek Out of Water - I use the angry skin kit from the brand dear, klairs that I order from wishtrend. I’m now working to find sunscreen, cleanser and primer that works for me. I really like (I’ve used it a couple of times and I haven’t reacted yet thankfully) the banilla clean it zero purity makeup removal balm/oil.

    My partner just walked past me and said “Are you doing squats while watching a woman wearing cat ears put on makeup??” 😂 Yup, multitasking!
    I’ve been keeping my beady eyes out for this ELF primer since watching another side by side comparison, but I don’t think it’s hit the Australian stockists yet, and probably won’t be for awhile if it’s selling out in the US. Every time I think about purchasing the Tatcha Silk Canvas my wallet bursts into flames, so I will be patient and hope for the best with ELF.
    I’d be up for more comparisons too, they are really helpful!

    Love this! I have both and find them to be more or less the same once applied and after I have makeup on. Tbh, the Tatcha does *feel* more luxurious, though the price is rough! When I first started with Tatcha, I was underwhelmed, but soon found it lovely! It makes me skin look so beautiful somehow. I’m glad there are now options. ☺️

      I'm glad for the options, too! I definitely appreciate a luxurious experience and for that reason I'm likely to repurchase the Tatcha, but I like having some less expensive options to use on a day-to-day basis when I'm trying to keep the daily cost of my face down 😂

    Brilliant! I can't wait of Elf Oz to get this - it'll be between $16 & $24 here (we get charged up to 3x the US prices), but the Tacha's $80 here - so it's gonna be Elf all the way. I'm wondering how the the Elf compares to the Revlon Pore Filling primer (the other supposedly really good "pore challenging" primer and at $30 here, still a hell of a lot cheaper than Tacha). I'm thinking the Elf might be smoother/less matte (not sure but the Revlon does seem to look a tad mattifying on some people). Have you used it? Once I've finished my 2 current on-the-go pore primers, I'll be in the market for something new.

    • @goow
      @goow  5 років тому +1

      I love the Revlon Pore Filling Primer too. That one is a thicker consistency and I don't like to use it on my whole face. I just press that into my cheek pores - usually on top of whatever smoothing or hydrating primer I'm using. The Revlon fills pores better than both the Elf and the Tatcha. The Elf and Tatcha are not quite thick enough to fill my pores (thick isn't the right word, but both seem more smoothing than pore-filling to me). The Revlon fills them completely so you can't even see them anymore.

    • @lovemyrainydays
      @lovemyrainydays 5 років тому

      @@goow Interesting - Looks like I could need both... the Rev sounds like just what I need for the massive pores down my nose bridge & inner cheeks either side of my nose (holdover from my younger super-oily days I suppose).

    “Elf has more of the laying on top of ur skin look” what do u mean by that, is that positive/negative? Also ELF made ur foundation significantly smoother than without right? (Or was it just a tiny bit?) 😊❤️

    • @goow
      @goow  5 років тому

      Negative in the sense that, I could see the product on my skin as opposed to it being kind of seamless with my skin. Definitely smoother with the Elf than with no primer. The negatives on the Elf are very minor - so much so that I don't think the difference in the Tatcha is worth the price based on what they look like side by side.

      Ah! Well I do most of my shopping online! You will find www.sosubysj.com/pages/stockists in random chemists. Of course you'll want to check out a *big* Boots to see what's standard high street fare and their No7 range, but I'm sure you'd already planned to do that! And Superdrug, which is relatively new to Ireland.... then Arnotts & Brown Thomas for high end, and an M&S for needlessly expensive skin and haircare (Cowshed) but most of the brands they stock will be familiar to you. Daniel Sandler is not in the shops... at least not here www.danielsandler.com and you probably know him from Pixiwoos anyway! Hope you have a great trip. That stuff literally makes me look soooo much younger. I’m 43. I don’t like the tacha. It not as good as the strivectin at all!!!!! I use the tacha under the eyes. I just get the sample size. It takes such a small amount. It normally lasts about 3 1/3 months. For under the eyes. Paying 20 instead of 50 is better for my pocket. Because I use some expensive products... but hands down.
