I'm very excited for this, especially when you said it feels more hydrating! This is the only primer that has ever extended the wear of my makeup but the balm occasionally emphasizes dry patches.
I’m definitely interested in this one. The original just didn’t do anything for me. I was so annoyed because everyone loves the Silk Canvas balm!
Tatcha is so smart. Putting the product in a pump will make you go through it faster and spend more $$. Gotta give it them they are smart.

I will definitely buy this as I love the original and I also love the Elf Poreless Putty Primer. I know it doesn’t have the skincare benefits but it’s a great alternative if someone doesn’t want to buy the Tatcha one. Great review Mel.

Oh I may look at the elf one, my daughter is thinking of doing an order with them. I normally buy the Tarte Smooth operator, but use make up less frequently now and feel it is a waste to buy that. Xx
Minandi Heski I have only tried the original one. I believe they have 3 different ones now. This is the one called Elf Poreless Putty Primer.
Minandi Heski definitely try the Poreless Putty Primer by elf! It’s amazing and definitely comparable to the tatcha - I’ve tried both!

I’ve been anti-primer for years, but I purchased the original Silk Canvas, and I LOVE it. Definitely going to pick this one up! I’m 42 with dry skin, the original works so wonderfully for me. I’m no longer anti-primer! Ty for the great review Mel! 💕

I love using the og silk canvas on my face and eyes.....I don't use anything else! Tatcha has to be one of the best skin care brands there is. I also think the prices are not that bad compared to others that are considered high end. I can not wait to try this!! Been counting down the the days🤗
I have been doubting whether to get this one or not... My HG primer is MAC's Natural Radiance, it is the one that works best for me! I'm 50, and although I don't have any wrinkles and still have oily skin, my skin is starting to think it is "mature", so I am getting new concerns. Your video just made me say YES! I will get in line when this is released so I can get it.
The original always seemed slightly heavy for me (probably using too much!), so I’ll definitely pick this up!

It has totally transformed my makeup application & being 54 with dry dehydrated skin I can actually wear foundation without my skin feeling dry & tight. After watching this I’m definitely going to try the new one as I think being a dry skin sufferer this may be even better for me. You’re absolutely gorgeous & your makeup looks beautiful. I literally just ordered both I figure I’ll use one for winter and one for summer my skin is super oily in summer but in the winter I’m dry so I think they will work amazing!!! You look gorgeous girl

Omg. Literally just wiped off my eye makeup as i was playing with it in mirror...tried OG silk canvas as eye primer. DID NOT WORK.
I bought this the day it released. Omg I have not stopped using it. It is sooooooooo good! I absolutely love it! It a lighter formulas and perfect for my oily combo skin. My makeup stayed put even after a long 16 hour day at work.
Hi Mel! Great review. Just wish this wasn’t so expensive. $52 for a liquid ounce is a pretty hefty price tag. That price seemed more worth it with the balm as it lasts forever. Thanks for the review! 💕

Mel I was wondering about that. I have the silk canvas based on your recommendation and I love it. I tried yesterday their smoothing primer from a Sephora sample and it's the bomb. I love the pump too and after my silk canvas is done I'll get the new one.
As I'm still struggling with my skin, I'm curious about the new version, especially since I'm drier than you & older. May have to get a sample. ❤

Can't wait to try it! The convenience of the pump has me sold. Although I love the original the packaging is bulky and it is easy to scoop out too much. Being able to put it on like this is a huge bonus - and I need all the hydration I can get with my dry skin.

Thank you for this comparison. I have the sample of the liquid one and the full size of the original. I hardly use the original but have been loving the new liquid one. Now I am set on finishing my original one so I can buy the full size of the liquid.
This type of comparison is so helpful. I hope you will continue doing this kind of review (like the two Armani concealers). Your reviews are so thorough. Our choices can be overwhelming sometimes.
I think the right side did look more hydrated so I will be purchasing. I put a piece of tape on top of my top of the cream one so I can keep track of it. It is so small it is easy to lose that’s for sure. Thanks
The liquid will go so quickly tho! That’s just a marketing ploy to get repurchase clients even faster. I’ll stick with the original. 💕

vanessa la descarada the powder is so chalky! Try the hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Etheral or Diffused Light instead ❤️

vanessa la descarada dim light is the worst, I didn’t like it either! Try the other 2... under the eyes they are unlike anything else I’ve ever tried.

Mel, can you please test the new liquid primer on your eyes with wet shadows and report back? I have the same problem with crepey lids when I attempt to foil shadows (especially the beautiful metallics from Juvia’s Place). I’ve been looking for a base that might prevent that from happening. Granted, not all of it is going to be completely prevented as I’m a fair bit older than you, but I’ll take what I can get! Thanks as always and much love from Canada! ❤️😘🇨🇦

Good Morning Mel 🌞! I think you hit the nail on the head! I think putting this into a pump makes it easier. It also helps with bacteria control, containing it in a pump, which might allow longer shelf life!🤷🏼♀️ Plus, I feel I have better control over a pump on how much product I use. Even though there is the little disk to dig out product in the original, sometimes one can grab too much and then there is the cross contamination when putting product back the excess into the pan. Those are just my own thoughts. (No I’m not a germaphobe🤦🏼♀️🤣🤣🤣). After watching this, I’d be interested in trying out a small one to see if I like it better than my current favorite primers! Hey @melthompson You can make cream shadows with the original Silk Canvas too. Just a scraping of a powder shadow mixed with a little of the SC and vòila. Cream shadow. Can prime the lips too 💋

I feel like I'm the only one tatcha Silk canvas doesn't work for. I've tried so many times with different foundations and every time it looks awful.
Alisa Marie it was oily for me, and I’m normal to dry skin.
Didn’t work for me either. Really tried hard to like it but nope. It hates me.
It only works for me if I’m just using a tinted moisturizer over it. Then I get a smooth finish that seems to gradually fade throughout the day instead of sliding (which most makeup usually does after a while). But if I use it under a medium or full coverage foundation it’s moving within minutes, even if I only use a tiny bit.
i bought it after seeing so many people rave about it. I decided to test it out a day I had work and barely a few hours into my shift my coworkers asks me why my face looked so oily! I ran to the breakroom and saw that my makeup looked absolutely horrendous! I knew it was the primer forsure since I didn't change anything else in my routine. Right now the only primer that gives me amazing results is YSL's touche eclat blur primer. I've gone through 2 1/2 containers of them since 2017 and it never fails to make my makeup look flawless and smooth but it keeps it looking that way throughout the day too. I've worn that stuff in the GA pit of a BTS concert and my makeup still looked pretty good after LOL
Alisa OMG the first time I bought the first primer I was so confused. It didnt do jack for me and my base was all type of mess. Recently I bought the liquid one and guess what .... it performed the same as the fenty hydrating primer. I did a review on it on my channel.... sooo ya dear u r not the only one. feel u!

I am definitely going to try this. I use the regular Tatcha now so I will most likely like the new one. I’m especially interested in it for the eyes. My eyelids are so dry I think this might be a good answer to that. Thanks so much for your review of this product. Thank you....I've been wondering about this. Another way I use the original is kind of weird. I'm not a fan of facial mists, so I pat a little of the Silk canvas on my under eye crinkles. It smoothes them out really well, without ruining the powder on the rest of my face. 😂

If you search for the silk canvas on qvc.com you can watch the brand owner talk about the product and it’s intended uses/benefits. The disc is intended for teaching you how much to use and then it can be discarded.

I’ve been anticipating this release since I heard about it. I’m not a fan of the solid because I always seemed to grab too much making my makeup look too heavy and feel too heavy. I’m excited about the liquid WITH a pump.. Not sure about use for eyes since I have mature issues and discolouration on lids and corners and... ugh.
Yeah when the balm version came out the Tatcha owner did a IG story showin how much more vibrant eyeshadow looks over top of the silk canvas balm vs not!
Hopefully they have a mini size like they do with the original tatcha primer 💙💛💟💚💜
