Fun fact, many people's first wins are in the Wolfer challenge because you aren't as overwhelmed by choice and can focus on skills to enhance your wolves.
@@baggypantsman @baggypantsman1 Fun fact, my first win was in the Wolfer challenge because I wasn't overwhelmed by choice and could focus on skills that enhanced my wolves haha I'd love to win with just Giant Bears.. but I'm not sure if that would even be possible
Recently discovered your channel, it's fantastic to find such a thoughtful and insightful review channel so well curated and concerned with unearthing hidden gems, please keep up the great work.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I'm a big fan of trying out these smaller games with interesting ideas so I'll definitely keep making videos on them Love the username btw, great scene
It's one of those slightly annoying things about niche games. In order for someone to find out about them.. they basically have to already know about them haha. Hope you still enjoyed the video!
I really enjoy your videos, the first time I've saw you was for the mini motorways review. Your video's quality are really good and doesn't match with the low viewership, keep doing the nice work. I also started following on steam to stay up with your recommendations 👍👍👍
Thank you! I'm glad you've enjoyed them! The low viewership doesn't really bother me too much, it's hard for people to find the videos if they've never even heard of the games haha
One of the coolest examples of synergy. One spell creates undead if target was living creature. But what to do if all your enemies are ghosts, demons and golems? Summon alive units yourself and then transform them into undead.
It's just so satisfying, every time I go back into Rift Wizard and look for a new build I find half a dozen new synergies I've played like 40 hours and there are still spells that I've never even used!
Completely agree, nothing overly flashy in the design but just nails the strategy and content. And there are still about 100 monsters I've never seen..
@@Table53 when I lose, I always know it was my fault, there is always an "oh shit, I forgot about..." moment, where I realize something I could have done better. It's weirdly perfect. I'm still hung on level 8.
@@CapnSnackbeard It is really good like that. There is still luck involved, but never without a way to mitigate it or make the best of a bad option Levels ~6-10 are killer to begin with! That's where the monsters really test if your build works or not haha
@@hemangchauhan2864 Original lineage of roguelikes is way older than Rogue. :P "Beneath Apple Manor" (1978) predates Rogue by two years but wasn't first either. In 1975 on University of Illinois some students created few "roguelikes" already. Check out games like "dnd", "pedit5" and "m199h". Keep in mind some of the vague names are due to limited storage of PLATO system and students tried to avoid detection as it would lead to game removal. These were the very first computer RPG games ever made and all of them would be called obvious roguelikes today. :)
There's a 1% Achievement in Rift Wizard for beating the game in a mode where "Summon Wolf" is the *only* spell you can use.

Giant bear only has indeed been done by someone in the discord community :)
@@khoops_gmz Oh man, that means it's possible.. now I'm going to have to try again haha
Yeah … while achievable, bears only is pretty sub optimal and most likely needs a fairly potent shrine to help it out.
Your channel became my font for games when I don't have anything to play. Thank you for your work!
Very happy to hear that! It's exactly the sort of thing I want this channel to be!
This looks interesting! Your channel is always great for finding good hidden and obscure games!
Thank you! Hopefully some of them won't be obscure forever haha

This sort of review won't make the rounds at most news outlets, and while this absolutely isn't my thing, it's still good to know it exists.

Very clear explanation of an appealing looking game.
Thank you! If you enjoy strategising and thinking in your roguelikes I can't recommend this highly enough!

Well made dungeon crawlers will never not be interesting.
"Dungeon crawler" is such a wide genre as well, so the range of experiences you can get from games matching that description is also huge!
@@Table53 Anything that shares some ancestory with Rogue and the original lineage of rogue likes + hardcore RPGs like Wizardry and Might & Magic.
