It at least got lots of attention within its core demographic. But it would be nice to see more attention from roguelite fans because this is a lot more approachable than many traditional roguelikes.
This is definitely my favorite new roguelike released in the past few years. There are so many interesting ideas in here that push the genre forward. I'm 400 hours in and I still find new things to experiment with all the time.
Some tips/corrections. When you're starting, you do not need to settle for starting with a 1-cost spell. You may be able to reach an orb before choosing, or you can even use the Teleporter that you start with to get to one, though that's obviously a tradeoff. For your Draught of Memories use, it's super beneficial to have the Blink spell, so you can grab more of them, up to 6. You can also get the Ignore LOS upgrade for Blink. It's super powerful in this game. Im not sure if you know this, but going through a rift to look at the layout does not commit you to that rift. You can back out with ESC. Also, don't undervalue Skills. They're often more powerful to pick up than learning a new spell.
Thank you so much for the tips my friend! I didn't think about getting an orb to skip a 1 cost spell on the first floor--cool idea! I do love that fireball, tho ;D Blink with Draught seems ideal, but I was thinking that sandbagging something might not be the best for a beginner. Definitely something to look out for later as I get better at understanding what builds to target ;) Yes! I cover this in the video that you are not commited to a rift and explain how you can preview the enemies and learn about them before you decide. I actually love this about the game and it's such a great reminder to always look before you warp haha ;) I hear you on skills--they are sick! I love passive stuff for economy, which is why I took a skill on pick 2 in this run! Those hellhounds are my best doggos haha ;D Thanks for all your help on stream with this--looking forward to playing more :D
couldn't you have checked if you could've gotten more from the draught of memories in either of the next rifts? even if you wouldn't have been able to use it with the fire discount it'd be more SP
This is a good point! I thought about this but I wanted to use it early instead of sandbag it for a potential better spot as I wanted 2 fire abilities right away, to show the dogs and get a new spell. Buying two fire things at the circle means I saved 2 SP, which is 1 more than I would have had if I saved the draught and tried to find a better occasion for the draught. In this case, I would need at least 2 orbs next to each other to break even AND I wouldn't have the second spell to use in the next realm to help my mana economy. I think both lines of play are totally valid, which is why this is a great game :)
Rift Wizard 2 released!
Awesome! Gotta check it out!
Wish this game got more attention when it released, really incredible gem.
I agree! I wish I had played it sooner as it's so great--but I'm really pumped to get to play it now ^_^

Haha, awesome! Yeah, this game is fantastic. Less story than Qud, but such a cool puzzle to solve.
Haha, awesome! This game is fantastic--I hope you are enjoying it!

You can check what the upgrades do even owning the spell by hovering over the spell and pushing page up/down.

More people need to play Rift Wizard
Yes! It's amazing!
I assumed they were spell points too. It's bloody rift wizard.
Haha, I am with you--I secretly call them spell points ;)
@@DrIncompetent They still are. What the developer intended doesn't matter. 😂

Haha, I don't know but if you find some please let me know because I need my fix as well! Haha
That's a... fairly competent guide to be honest. You just had one job, Doc, and failed.
OH!
Haha, this game is so good!
