  • I bought the Lego Brand Store (set #40574) last month in the Lego store in Brighton, England.
I never like buildings when they don't have a roof, and it seemed odd that half the building had one floor, whereas the other half had 2 floors - so I extended the top floor over all the ground floor.
    PARTS LIST:
With thanks to ‪@RobbMajor‬ in the comments below, who put this parts list together for everything you need for this MOD:

I like the final open view. As a final option, you can place other buildings beside this one so you don't have to make side walls. Same with the backside. Buildings with no backsides can be used up against the wall in a city, but if the city doesn't have a wall to lay against, you can place another building behind it. Cool videos, very enjoyful.

    • @MinifigJez
      @MinifigJez  Рік тому +3

Yes, I agree, it definitely looks better open. and you're completely right, if I place other buildings next to it, I won't need to add side walls.

Did you ever add on to it to have the store opened and close the back up? This is great. I bought 3 of these sets to make a modular. I’d love to see how you enclose it all the way with the back side opened up

    • @MinifigJez

No, I put this one on the back burner. I'll probably return to it when I eventually make a Lego City one day.

@@MinifigJez well I’d like to see you get back to it sometime. I really like what you did with it so far. I’m not good at making things myself without instructions or videos unfortunately. So I’ll certainly be back if you start doing it again. I’ll still check out your stuff regardless but I’d love to see what your idea is in finishing it with the sides. Do you think I’d need another set to this? I bought 3 of them with the idea of making one of the rebrickable sets but I do like yours much more.

@@bigdaddyj452 I haven't put a lot of thought in this but...
I've made several set MODs by buying two and building them back-to-back - This could work with this set, and you'd just need to use windows, or bricks from the 3rd set, to replace the front doors on the back-to-back one (if that makes sense) So that it doesn't;t have a big set of doors on both the front AND the back!
I'm not sure how much it would help, but I also have a bunch of videos in my "City MODs" playlist and there are several which use two sets to double up and put back-to-back, like the Car Wash, the Family House & the Modern House. They might help you with the principles.
That's all I can think of, off the top of my head, I hope it helps. The link to my City MODs playlist is here: ua-cam.com/play/PL0A-CMNXDNYOBUnSw5eiG_Sh_3XM2SJ2a.html
Let me know how you get on.

@@MinifigJez appreciate that info thank you. My guess is you’d likely need 4 total sets to make it with the sides opened up. I just don’t know for sure. If you ever decide to make instructions for a closed up version with the sides opened up I’d be happy to buy instructions on rebrickable. I think folks would be really interested in that honestly. No worries though if you don’t fool with that but I’ll be checking your stuff out and keeping my fingers crossed you come back to this one day. Thanks much for the info and help.

@@bigdaddyj452 No problem, happy to help. I have so many videos on my "to do" list and I'm just making Rebrickable instructions for my Duracell Train Tanker Wagon at the moment, and unfortunately, Lego is just a fun hobby that has to take a back seat to life, so this will go on the list, but I won't be able to get to it for a while. - But in the mean time I hope you like watching some of my other videos, and that they give you some inspiration. The London Underground train and station playlist is quite fun. and if you like City, the earlier. link should be of interest too.

    • @MinifigJez

A second set would fix the walls etc, but not give you the right parts for the roof.
I just used some parts from my own spares, and ordered about 80 other bits from Bricklink.com.
If you don't mind about not having a roof, two sets would enclose the store really nicely.
