Can’t wait to play as Leon’s cousin
I thought the same thing... SH was meant to be like RE back in the 90s but fortunately Team Silent had its own way. Now Konami's early vision is finally happening so many years later and I'm not happy about it... 😢
They need to make Dino Crisis next , can u imagine a survival horror dinosaur game in today’s time ?

My only real complaint besides some of the animations is why do the guns sound like they have silencers
cuz it's Silent Hill! what if the weapons aren't even real, and it's all in James head :V!!
@@OskarReyAllen bro😭💀
According to Arkadiusz Reikowski, Bloober Team sound designer:
"Basically, stuff like this happens when you cut the frequencies of the sound design to put the music at the front. Not on us. Don't worry, gunshots in game are pretty powerful"
It seems different while u play and experience some of dead bodies
Because the people making it are incompetent
no need to rush guys, take your time.
It’s okay, Rocky. You go when you feel like it
Lol
The animations are a bit…off. But I imagine/hope that this is really still a work in progress with time and intent to improve.
No they won't, animations don't change that much,
The animations were made like this on purpose to simulate a PS1 game and the difficulty of the unprepared protagonist, I personally found it incredible
@@kawninjaful …I ain’t think about it like that. I’ll have to rewatch it with that in mind.
@@kawninjaful Honestly I do not think that this is a valid excuse. Having animations of a unprepared protagonist doenst equal having bad animations. I also think that they feel way off - but tbh in general i feel that it doesnt look like a game from 2024

If I'd saw this with absolutely no context, I thought it looks like a Resident Evil 2 mod
yeah, made by a small dev group in some distant country.
As a RE fan, it's normal for you to roast this game, but you have to know the difference between SH and RE first, dude:
Camera perspective: Silent Hill 2 Remake uses an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, while RE 2 Remake uses a fixed third-person perspective.
Emphasis on psychological horror: Silent Hill 2 Remake focuses more on psychological horror and atmosphere, while RE 2 Remake focuses more on action and jump scares.
Combat mechanics: Silent Hill 2 Remake has slower, more methodical combat, while RE 2 Remake has faster, more action-packed combat
Story and characters: Silent Hill 2 Remake has a more complex and nuanced story and characters, while RE 2 Remake has a simpler and more straightforward story and characters.
It's worth noting that Silent Hill 2 Origins, released in 2001, also incorporated action elements into its gameplay, predating RE 2 Remake by several years. This demonstrates that the Silent Hill series has explored action-oriented concepts independently of RE, and that Silent Hill 2 Remake's gameplay is not simply a copy of RE 2 Remake.
I'd think it was a fan made remake of SH 2 in UE5
@@uluaheiwhy’d you write this like chat gpt
Agree, Silent Hill and Resident evil almost has the same gameplay camera. take example RE7 and RE8 copying Silent Hills P.T Demo that has the first person camera first than Resident evil. even the original RE and SH has the fixed camera as well. but beside all of that they're both has the different Theme where silent hill like you say exploring more complex of psychological horror and terror, while resident evil more like SC-Fi horror oriented.@@uluahei
i hope they add the over the shoulder camera AND perhaps a fixed camera angle style like the original and turn down the shake on the fov
Fixed camera angle was never a creative choice it was the only way to do it back then, it's not functional, the controls are terrible and you have no freedom to aim or look properly some indie studios do it for the Nostalgia but a AAA company will never do it again.
I’m only playing this first person. Can’t wait. If you on console tho there won’t be nothing
There weren’t ton of fixed camera angles. There were a few here and there, but it wasn’t the whole game.
Yes you right
No bro, no fixed camera, resident evil 2 remake was absurdly good and didn't need that.
PLEASE FIX THE ANIMATIONS.
I understand this is still in development.
Please polish the walking animations and polish the animation where James open doors.
Smooth it out just like how RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE has amazing animations when Leon interacts with doors, getting hit, etc.
The gun sounds could be better.
Please Bloober Team I know you can do it just listen to the fans and stay focused on the path.
Looking forward to this remake!!!!
EXACTLY!
They've claimed that the game has been done for a while now, and they were apparently just waiting for Konami to give them the go ahead to release
It's Konami.. this will be a soulless cash grab, devoid of any quality or improvements.
Perhaps Konami said to put it back in the oven?
bro the animations are designed like that on purpose to replicate how they were in the original sh2, the gunshots had the frequencies cut to let the music in front but in game apparently they are supposed to sound normal
To those asking for a release date it’s better to not have one some of the animation look odd let them polish the product.
Bloober Team, the Polish devs are known for their unpolished games!
If you're asking for smooth fight animations, you're not asking for a Silent Hill 2 game. "Please daddy Konami, remake this game, but remove the tension and gameplay mechanics that made it a classic. Please daddy Konami, it doesn't matter if I don't know anything about games or game design, update it for me, daddy."

I realy liked the part where the nurse says its parkouring time and starts to parkour all over the place 🤣
Seeing the nurse vault over the chest high cover like this is gears of war was hilarious.
I feel like a good deal of what makes the melee animations look stiff is due to the fact that the weapons are bouncing off the enemies instead of going through them like most games handle melee attacks animations.
The firearm sounds definitely need some work and I'm not crazy about the filter over the screen when the lying figure gets too close to James. I think they should just intensify the noise filter when enemies grab him.
Also how the heck is James getting grappled by a lying figure? They don't even have arms.

@@mechboltxl4591 Corps don't make decisions based on "better game". They see numbers, and the numbers of popularity of Silent Hill 2 plus the amount of cash Pyramid Head has brought them is quite big, even if Silent Hill 1 was the one that gave them the most profit itself. That's why they choose SH2, cause it holds the less risk. Konami is pouring a lot of hope in this franchise again, and the lesser the risk based on numbers, the better.

Silent Evil 2 remake
The animations are a bit wierd but hope you will give them the respect it deserves ❤
What will be really interesting about this game is how they handle the choices made by the original game when it came to camera angles, etc. if you have full control of the camera, the game can’t use the same tricks to build suspense, etc.
y si va ser totalmente remake o le van a cambiar cosas como al final fantasy 7 xD?
I appreciate the effort put into the current iteration of the project, but it is imperative to address certain concerns to align the game more closely with the distinctive atmosphere of Silent Hill. To achieve this, a comprehensive revision of several elements is necessary.
Firstly, the texture work appears overly clean, lacking the gritty and unsettling ambiance that defines Silent Hill. It is crucial to revisit the models' texture work, drawing inspiration from the original atmosphere where the otherworld seamlessly blended with our reality. Additionally, character design, particularly James, seems overly polished, and adjustments are needed to create a more immersive experience.
The environmental aspects, such as lighting and fog, require careful reconsideration. The fog should be denser, and the lighting needs to be darker to evoke the isolating and claustrophobic feeling reminiscent of the original Silent Hill. The aim is to make every corner feel ominous and potentially perilous, capturing the essence of the original game.
Regarding combat, a substantial overhaul is necessary. Eliminating quick time events is paramount, as they do not align with the desired gaming experience. The combat system, currently resembling the Resi2 remake, needs refinement to exude a unique and authentic Silent Hill atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the P.T demo could provide valuable insights into creating an effective psychological horror experience, emphasizing fear and terror over excessive blood and gore.
Weapon mechanics should introduce an element of fragility, akin to the Breath of the Wild style, enhancing the survival aspect of James's journey. Limited supplies and the constant threat of death based on decisions made contribute to the core narrative, emphasizing the survival horror elements integral to the Silent Hill franchise.
In conclusion, this feedback is not meant as criticism but as a sincere desire to see the game reach its full potential. As a devoted fan familiar with the extensive Silent Hill media, I envision this project as a revival of the series rather than a potential setback. Addressing these concerns diligently will undoubtedly lead to a more authentic and satisfying Silent Hill experience, both for longstanding fans and newcomers alike. I want this to be a revival of the series, not the nails in its coffin.
This is made by Bloober Team. I heard that their past products were mediocre, so I'm kinda worried. Also this looks like a Resident Evil Mod on their remake engine
I can't wait for the remastered music.
Not sure if it will be as scary with convinient combat, hope they will find a way to make player want to avoid monsters if possible. Otherwise it may become more of a shooter.

Bloober turned a psychological horror in a barebone clone of RE2Remake.

There are no damage physics going on here. You can see any many points like at 1:08 that he shoots them, there are some particle effects from the gun firing and from the impact on the creature, but then no visible damage. This is very disappointing that they took the lazy route of designing combat. Ya I know the OG game didn't have this either, but that was more of a limitation at the time. And while I don't want them to do what RE did with their damage stuff, It would have been nice to see something that gave the appearance of something gruesome. Not for the sake of looking gory, but displayed in an unsettling way to further add to his mental distress. Further more it make it feel static and less alive, less real when you don't even put the minimal effort to at the very least make a blood stain where the bullet hit. It just felt very underwhelming.
There’s definitely physical damage look again
Obviously, this remake will present and play quite differently from the beloved original -- Even so, I have to say this has me excited. I'm honestly keeping my expectations pretty mid, but I'm looking forward to this regardless. If it plays well and adheres to the source material in a faithful and honorable manner, I'll be satisfied.
I’m so excited 😆 although I’m getting some Malfoy vibes from James 😂
This trailer comes off as Konami/Bloober looking at Capcom's version of the assignment and not doing it on their own for themselves and their own development. Konami/Bloober, please consider some of the other comments here-that offer constructive feedback-between now and the end of development/whenever the release date ends up being.
That said, between the "modernization" of the gameplay and any reimagining of the events of SH2, I suppose this may suffice as a remake-with more polishing-if it distinguishes itself enough from the original, while still being a good game/faithful remake [i.e., like how Capcom made the RE2 & RE4 remakes different enough from the originals that both the remakes and originals have their merits that (still) make them each worth playing today-if they are going to take cues from the Capcom playbook]. Given how far SH2 remake is in development, I'm not sure how realistic incorporating a lot of the feedback here would be.
Regardless, a modernizered SH2 remake that is a carbon-copy of the events of the original, but with RE engine remake-style gameplay could go either way imo. However, it would be nice for SH2 to distinguish itself enough from the REmakes because there are already plenty of those, and I can just play one of the REmakes if I wanted that experience. But, I guess I won't complain too much either and am interested in supporting this product if SH2 remake turns out sufficient for what it is/may be. It would just be great to see the SH franchise lean into its own identity in this era (à la P.T./Silent Hills during the PS4 era) as it did back during the SH1-4 days with Team Silent. RIP Team Silent and Silent Hills, and best of luck to Bloober with finishing this SH2 remake.
Just say you never played Silent Hill 2. Asking for RE combat in this game shows a fundamental lack of ability to distinguish what made these games different. Go play your Capcom updates if you want brand new games skinned with nostalgia. People who actually played SH2 want to experience an updated SH2, not a hand holding action shooter.
Some afterthoughts: Revisited the original SH1 and SH2 E3 trailers today, and it's interesting because the combat in SH1 and the original SH2 was somewhere between late 90s survival horror (i.e., original Resident Evil 1-3) and modern RE engine REmake style combat; and this was mostly due to not having fully fixed camera angles a majority of the time. So, in hindsight, og SH 2 (and even SH1, for that matter) combat-at time of its release in 2001-was kind of a bridge between pure, tank control combat (i.e., og Resident evil 1-3) and the "action-horror" style combat that, more or less, began with the original RE 4 by 2005-at least in its feel compared to, say, the 2002 Resident Evil remake, which was one of its contemporaries of the time that stuck with fixed camera angles and tank controls.
Also, for some reason, the monsters in this SH2 remake trailer have a "smoother" looking texture (vs the ones appearing og SH2), which strikes my eye as a bit off-almost as if they're, somehow, less detailed and more bland-looking than the original monsters, which were excellent for their time and in general. The sound and overall design of the monsters and combat in og SH2 had a more distinguishing, visceral psychological horror aesthetic that was more overtly something out of a PTSD fever dream than the (very liberally) "biologically plausible" creatures that appear in the RE series. All that to say: I don't expect the SH2 remake monsters to look exactly like the original ones, but if I had to choose between the textures and overall vibe of the ones in this trailer versus the original game, I'd honestly probably go with the og SH2 monster designs-at least based on this SH2 remake trailer.
In summary, my main points are that-upon further reflection-imo:
1) It's kinda weird for Konami/Bloober to release a "combat reveal" versus an overall trailer that accomplishes providing a more holistic sense of the game like how those original SH 1 & 2 E3 trailers did.
2) One of the main differences between RE and SH combat, in the late 90s and early 00s, was that RE used fixed cameras and tank controls; whereas while SH's camera mostly wasn't fixed, it also used tank controls. So, I guess the line has always been somewhat blurred between RE and SH's combat when taking into account differences in camera angles and controls, and now that line appears to be less blurred due to using the same, "over-the-shoulder" camera angles that most third-person games use nowadays-horror-based or not.
3) Based on this trailer, SH 2 remake's monster designs (i.e., textures and sound) are kind of underwhelming, imo, for today in 2024 relative to the caliber of how well og SH 2's monster designs have aged and especially for how superb they were for their time in 2001.
That said, I'm still curious to see how this SH2 remake turns out, as long as they consider and try to incorporate some of the feedback on this trailer.
You really think Konami and Bloober care about anything that fans have to say? Both studios are awful
you do know thats what Silent Hill was originally? Konami wanted their own RE, Silent Hill wouldn't even exist if RE didn't create Survival Horror (I don't consider the first two Alone in the Dark games real survival horror since their more point and click logic puzzle games with Tank controls) and likewise this Remake wouldn't exist if RE2make didn't resolidify the genre again, so it's only natural a company like Konami is going to have their remake do what worked for RE2make while hopefully doing its own stuff to help it stand on its own, that's just how genre evolution works in the industry, that's why everythings a knock-off or a Clone at first until enough exist to become its own genre

As a man, who played original Silent Hill 2 the same year it was released, and as a fan of the Japanese tetralogy I have to say - it's better than I expected. Not great, but pretty good. QTE's gotta go and what's the deal with green blood? I hope it's some rendering error or some kind of a censorship setting, because it looks really bad. Also gotta mention that guitar tone during the solo - ugh. But overall I'm looking forward to this and probably going to buy during sale, it's definitely not pre-order or get-it-on-release-date stuff.

My only complaints so far are that textures both on James and the enemies look flat, that QTE thing on screen and that not subtle phrase on the wall.
One thing I have to say: I loved the music. The guitar sounds amazing. I really hope that they focus on the atmosphere, and let the combat on 2nd plane, not turning the game in a action game. Please!
Oh boy the jank is strong with this one. Not surprising coming from you guys. Also, why are you still trying to emulate Resident Evil??
they obviously don't understand what game they are remaking
Seeing the nurse vault over the chest high cover like this is gears of war was hilarious. And yea who would figure the combat from a team that has never made a game with any combat would look janky lol.
Thank you 😍 I can't wait!
im so excited about the game, but it looks like the gameplay (combat animation/walking...) needs a lot of work, there is something missing about it... hope it will be fixed
That on screen X prompt looks horrible! I really hope you can turn that off.
This new Resident Evil look promising!
Yeah exactly just that the last re look way better 😂
Este juego se siente como esos proyectos "ocarina del tiempo en unreal engine 4"
Eso mismo pensé, no quiero que nos arrojen cualquier cosa.
Pero creo que mucha gente lo jugará por la nostalgia
Oh, you mean that Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine project that has been getting massive praise for several years? That project that every single person in the comments is blown away by? That project that literally every person that sees it says they would happily pay $60 to play? I'm not really sure if this was meant as an insult, but it doesn't work the way you intended. The OOT U4 project has garnered nothing but the highest praises. So what exactly is your insult?
@@atomdecay looks like a proyect (not an actual game) made by 1 person.
@@fantasmarobatortas5 Well, it is still in early-mid development, so it isnt super surprising that some things need polish. This was more intended to give us something to hold us over & let us know the project is still happening, not a final gameplay release trailer.
I feel like this game will need another year for polishing some stuff. I like the environment, I feel like it's more in the Re style. But it mostly fine with it.
Looks great. Day one pick up for me. Important fact - this is not a PS5 exclusive. This is a one year timed exclusive on the PS5, then it comes to the Series X.
okay as much as the combat looks...well IFFY the music slapped (as always). akira yamaoka always hits
It dis slapp nothing at all lol this remix of the musik was dog💩 they will f this game up...
This gameplay looks like a budget Resident Evil 4 remake - in a bad way.
I remember growing up watching my brother play this game. I was too scared to play it on my own. Now that I played countless horror games. Time to finish this one 😅
I never played SH2 back in the day. I played it last year and it’s unbelievable. I completed it twice. It’s the only old game I’ve ever played that wasn’t for nostalgic purposes.
Finish it
Pro tip, don't play it through this remake.
Yeah I plan on playing the original. I played RE2 N64 countless times. The remake was good for RE2 but so much changed.
@@chavogaming1 Good.
hmmmm not so excited anymore tbh. i think the camera behind the shoulder is too close . why would you want the character blocking most of the view ? raise the camera or zoom out a bit i reckon
