    HI !! I’m Japanese.
    1990 to 2010, some girls loved this style, but it was really really small amount. I guess they didn’t wear such a clothes except in Harajuku or Shinjuku, because their look are tooooo unique. On the other hand, 2017 look is quite natural.

      And Harajuku can also pretty much be worn whenever I believe.

    Oooh, I wish you had gotten into the reasoning why lolita and really cutesy styles became popular. They were the Japanese version of punk for women, essentially - rejecting the entire concept of mature woman that they were being forced into at a young age. It was seen as a more repulsive trend to men, which made it even more popular with women.

    • @raisamu9
      @raisamu9 6 років тому +10

      Reimo actually it’s not really a lie. Back then it was traditional for women to focus everything they had into becoming “proper” wives and such and putting the family first. Meaning learning to be a proper “lady”. Lolita was started by women who wanted to go against these traditions and allow themselves to focus on their own happiness than just the happiness of the man of the house. So back when Lolita started it was pretty frowned upon there is a video by Scarfing Scarves, a Lolita youtuber, they made a two part video about how Lolita is a feminist fashion style. In part 1 they explain the history of how Lolita started. I would suggest watching that if you’re interested

      the average length of time for experimenting with fashion in the Harajuku area is 3 years.
      young people enjoy it, then inevitably grow older and need to worry about making a living and paying their own way in life.
      plus, style is so diverse it seems a bit difficult for foreigners to understand. in the west you have a handful of style 'categories'. people watch videos like these and complain - the truth is they still have trouble trying to establish style sets/cliques like our cultures condition us to. they won't be getting that information cuz there are literally too many to count.
      always thought the Japanese truly got what fashion really meant. it can be as diverse as their population, ffs.

      Actually you're kinda wrong there... There was a legitimate Goth scene in Japan but it was very small compared to the UK and the USA. Bands like Malice Mizer, Dir En Grey, and X-Japan were not Goth bands, Visual Kei was like a mix of Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, and Punk Rock. There were no actual styling of Goth music in that genre. And if you compare a Japanese Goth band like Kokushoku Elegy, Madame Edwarda, Gilles De Rais, or G-Schmitt, you'll hear the difference. :)

    That is not a kimono. It's a nagajuban(Underkimono), it's underwear! Why did you even include it if you have a real furisode(without a fitting nagajuban!) in the next take?? Also a otaiko musubi is not worn with a furisode. Also there are free videos and tutorials all over the internet about how to correctly wear a kimono. Watch one!

      teapotOctopode lol im a Japanese,actually it depends if you want to wear something inside the Kimono ( ・-・)

    • @KingaOwczarska
      @KingaOwczarska 7 років тому +25

      As a Japanese, you should know that not wearing anything under a kimono destroys it as you usually don't wash kimono - especially silk ones. You hopefully also know that wearing a collar even with the simplest of kimono is considered traditional. Not wearing a collar is permissible only in case of yukata and actually, the absence of the collar is not a sign that it there is no underwear. It means there is no nagajuban - still, a hadajuban is required even under a yukata.

    • @glitschqualle
      @glitschqualle 7 років тому +3

      I have read... well... some books and blogs about kimonos and I have never ever seen someone wear a furisode or any silk kimono without a proper nagajuban or hada juban but if you say so...
      I can only reflect what I learned.

    • @severone_ichi
      @severone_ichi 7 років тому +8

      I was also noticing this, it’s so weird to not do proper research before you start with something like this. It’s obvious that it is not the right way. They use the nagajuban as a ‘normal’ kimono and under the furisode they didn’t use a proper nagajuban at all? Please research such a topic because it gives off the wrong image and message.

    I'd like to actually look at the average wardrobe of cultures throughout the era. Not just the best clothing people would normally reserve for special occasions. I find it more interesting to see what people dressed like normally throughout the ages since they would give actual hints of the age they lived in.
