I can't even describe how much I love this video. It's not only the wildness of someone going from hip-length hair to a buzz cut, it is educational, it's funny. The swapping between long and shorter hair kills me!! It is so good! It's amazing!!
When she took out the scissors and actually cut her hair, my jaw dropped... I've never seen a UA-camr do anything that permanent for a video. WOW, you have my full respect
Can you imagine how much planning and organizing this took to be able to know when she could cut her hair as needed over 500 years and which parts she needed longer and the in between? Then putting it all together, and editing.. that's insanely dedicated and amazing. I've never seen a video like this.
I have a weird take away from this video, the way you didn't mention the mod movement in the sixties being almost the first androgynous style. I feel like it was an important moment in the History of fashion and find it really weird the focus was on longer hair cuts, it's not like they were just more popular because the mod movement genuinely thrived through all the 60s,70s and eighties and then to make an amazing strong style comeback in the 90s due to British bands like blur
I’m still totally go smacked by this video 2 days after viewing it! I’ve followed Morgan for a while now as well as several of her historic interest cohorts, and their hair has been such a large part of their identity. I’m wondering if Morgan has any regrets with going through such a drastic change?
That was my thought exactly! Especially with having to plan out which styles to do while still with long hair. Needing to rememeber to film each of those styles before chopping, then editing all the footage to get it all in chronological order 👍🙌
Agreed. (Phenomenal video!). That being said, the 40s hairstyle reaaly suits her,(IMO). Granted I may be a teensy bit biased as I love the old-fashioned 40-50s "pin-up look".
I like that she has a bit more of a SMILE tho! A lot of the portrait subjects look so severe! (I understand that is how they ‘did’ it but I think I would have been rebellious!😱😁👻)
It’s the 1st time I see such dedication, I have seen all these big youtubers that do these videos and I never fully understood how they can’t get the 80’s or 90’s right..... With all their 7 Million subscribers and they do an 80’s or 90’s hair looking like it’s 2010........ I liked ALL the looks she recreated, you don’t need to be an artist to do masterpieces, all you need is the passion and will to do it, that’s the magic & she’s got it
That 40s hair actually compliments your face very nicely, the same as the curly bob, it took my breath away a little it really makes you look like a movie star, slay
"I wanna cut my hair but i don't just wanna cut my hair. I wanna make it into an in depth journey through hair history while I slowly cut my hair in a heavily researched, scripted and edited amazing video" Gosh, what a FANTASTIC video. All the time, the planning, the back and forth in filming and the linear editing. This is a real movie
I started watching this thinking, “How is she going to pull this off without cutting her hair?” Then, you started cutting. At some point, my mouth dropped open. I was just surprised by how big of a chop you were going for. I thought the thumbnail was some photoshop, not an actual buzz cut. You looked amazing through all the decades and centuries!
I am just shocked! I have such a huge attachment to my long hair and seriously grieved my locks whenever I had to cut my hair. I’m incredibly impressed with her commitment to this video and just how beautiful she looked throughout the different decades! What an amazing video!
I was floored when Morgan got the scissors out, and was like "no way", but when she pulled the clippers out....😲. I am SO impressed by the research, planning, editing, sheer work, and dedication that went into this video! I must also admit to a slight bit of jealousy that she looks so good in every hairstyle! Even the buzz cut. Morgan, may you enjoy the freedom of the lack of hair, and if you decide to grow it back out, try not feel too crazy hating it in the interim as I always do. (Of course, you thankfully didn't do those unfortunate 70s hairstyles, the pixie and the short shag, very sensible of you. My mother foisted those upon me in elementary school, and sadly, there is pictorial evidence.)
Something i never even stopped to think about before is how much our face (or at least the perception of it) changes depending on our hair. Every 40 seconds she looked like an entire different person 😂
@@MalusDemonium i love how when I started to watch this video i read this comment and thought about commenting something along these lines, then decided to come back and do it just to see that it's already been done.

Just going to sit here a minute and appreciate the amount of editing that must have went into this since she filmed in order of lengths and then ordered the footage chronologically...
@@jansonciereszko4968 y'all are so wrong, lmao. I said ANY hairstyle. That means A.N.Y. ANY. You don't agree don't reply like why waste your time doing that
the first snip I literally went "G A S P" like, a loud and surprised gasp of shock, I'm blown away by the dedication. That must be YEARS worth of hair, good on you!
I had this video in the background, not really paying attention and just listening to her talk, and the absolute whiplash I experienced when I looked over and her hair was suddenly shoulder length
@@erinthepigeon904 As someone who literally shaves my head once every two months, yes, I do know that it's just hair and that it grows back. But people tend to get attached to their hair, especially when it's so long, because it takes years of care to get it to that length.
I sat down, exhausted, fully expecting to kind of skip through the video or just not finish it because it was close to bedtime. However, she did an amazing job at engaging me and I forgot what time it was. This video is done so well and truly a masterpiece.
I've watched this with increasingly wide eyes, "She's NOT?!" "She IS!" Classy stealth over Morgan. It's a big deal to cut your hair off! You must be just about floating from the change of weight
I had long hair, not as long as her but pretty long, and cut it down to a pixie mostly in order to donate the hair. It was SO MUCH FUN! My hairdresser was so happy to get to do this with me and we just had so much fun. And the weight difference and easy showers were great too!
Cut my hair like 2 years ago and before I cut it, it was so hard to brush out due to the thickness XD Anyways, once I cut it I felt FREE from the weight. It was about halfway on my back, and my head was always leaning back because of the WEIGHT!
I'm not even eight minutes in yet and I was just stunned that she really cut off the sections on the sides of her head for the 1630s look!! I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of it over the later eras. I thought she was just going to do the long hairstyles in any given period, when she began... this is seriously gutsy.
When she first pulled out the scissors I audibly gasped. Such dedication! This was one of the coolest videos I've seen on historical fashion. It was awesome to see what the hairstyles would have looked like in reality on a real person. Morgan is amazing!
SAME I gasped so loudly when she first took out the scissors you should’ve heard me when she raised her hands slightly towards the end of the video and revealed the electric shaver she was holding
@Tanya Clevenger I did that too, I had hair to my bum, and cut it right off very very short. It was very liberating and afterwards I realised to never cut it again that short! So yes, some people are long hair lovers and some short hair.. And some can never grow their hair really really long.:)
Something that's interesting to note about the older centuries is that we're only seeing the hair of people who could afford portraits. I wonder how many other popular styles there were amongst those who could not afford portraits.
Not only that, but we are seeing the hairstyles people would choose when they're getting a portrait done. They definitely could have styles that are easier to maintain for days when nothing special is happening.
I didn't believe it! I was like "there's an editing trick there or something" but quickly realized "nope. She really went there!" 😳 The crippling anxiety I get just thinking about cutting a few inches off because "ugh, it's gonna take me 6 months to get that back..." and she chops off literal years of growth as nonchalantly as getting out of bed in the morning... I mean, WOW. 🙌
You know.... I never really liked many of the older hairstyles as presented within the paintings... but seeing these hairstyles on a living person? They are actually incredibly cute!! Thank you for this wonderful video!
I have watched this video so many times over the last year since it came out, just marvelling over the planning and editing that went into getting this chronologically correct. But also can I just say how much you absolutely nailed these, because as soon as 1970s you came on the screen I was immediately reminded of my mother, who was born in the late 50s, a teen in the 70s, and wore that feathered front style all the way through my childhood til at least the mid 2000s. IIRC she literally only stopped doing it when her hot roller set died 😂 Also as soon as 1990s you came on I was like "hey, Monica Lewinsky!" Amazing how these things get burned into our memory, especially when we're kids. Anyway! Still loving this video and I think it should be used for reference for decades to come ❤
Cutting off all that length, in different ways, then going in for the full chop + a buzz cut at the end? Mad RESPECT. You're gorgeous! From someone who lost her locks last year, due to chemo but is now enjoying a pixie cut as it grows back in, your vid is awesome! It also reminded me of all the fun ways we can add hair (wigs, extentions, etc) or just decoration. I have been enjoying my collection of fun 90s era scarfs and beaded headbands again. The beaded headbands are also a partial throwback to the 1920s-30s. I think at this junction, humans have done just about everything we can possibly do with our hair. The current trend of playing with bright faux colors is what will really stick in my memory for the early 2020's. Cheers! 💟

I am a hairdresser and the history of hairstyles was so interesting. You did a fantastic video! Did not expect you to buzz your hair at the end. It looks stunning in you!

This is pretty unique for a hairstyle today, but the transition to 1680s at the 8:32 mark where you have long flowing hair and cute curly thin fringe bangs actually looks so incredible on you!
I don't know if I can express the surprise I felt when she actually cut her hair. That's commitment! Edit: She has, in fact, cut her hair more, and then buzzed it off. You've gotten a new subscriber.
Right?!?!? Like, Morgan is fully allowed to do whatever she wants with her own hair (OBVIOUSLY), but I was SO shooketh when she started cutting... and then when 1800s pixie cut Morgan jumped in I was like WAIT OMG SPOILERS FOR LATER?!?!?

I absolutely loved the "I'm going to need that front hair I cut off back again for this one, so...." and then flip and it was back. 🤣 It's clear the cut was very real, but way to pretend, after actually doing the ones that needed long hair first, out of order. That was fun.
The amount of thought and preplanning that went into this and the order of the filming is amazing! I would love to know how long it took to film with having to switch back and forth between cuts/eras.
Not only was I impressed that she busted out scissors, but she must rock “arms day” at the gym! My arms are tired after doing one french braid on my own head. 😂
I’m an hairdresser and I’ve been wearing vintage clothes and hairstyles since 2016. I always look for a correct representation of hair on social media, books, photographs… and I MUST SAY with all my heart that you did SOMETHING AMAZING! You’ve taken a journey in history, cutting your own hair to make it extremely correct. I don’t really have words left, this will be remembered and I will watch it every time I’ll feel the need to replicate some of this marvellous hairstyles! Girl, YOU NAILED IT! You have my total respect and appreciation! 🙌🏻
I’ve never watched such an informative, thorough, entertaining video from such a dedicated UA-camr. Literally went from feet of hair to a buzz cut. I commend you madam 👏
This was a masterpiece. This better be trending asap. The effort, the research, the amazing final haircut. Dude. Like, bravo. Seriously. You should be so proud.
@@lokibek they meant to not put a spoiler which is why they didn't say what the actual cut was but considering where her hair started to the final cut for the purpose of a video, it's amazing. Most of us would never.
While I've never had hair quite as long as her, I've definitely gone from bra strap length hair to a short pixie cut a couple of times in my life. Usually when you get to that point, you're just done with messing with the long hair and are excited to get rid of it lol. My hairdressers were usually more nervous than I was hahahaha. I will say the worst part is the growing out process. Soooo many awkward in between lengths to get through. I'm lucky that my hair grows incredibly fast, so chopping it all off is never that big of a deal to me.
@@bunny_0288 I agree. I had long hair quite a few times in my life and the last one was down to my butt. You get to apoint wher eyou're just DONE with it and want it GONE!!!
@@bunny_0288 Haha~ Similar experience with hair dressers. My hair grows fast as well and have had several long periods where maintaining a short style wasn't feasible.....and then you go in and tell them to cut it all off.....oh, and I want a side shave too....oh, and lets start bleaching it out so it can be purple~......and they just stare with that nervous smile asking, "Oh, are....you super sure?" like five times.... I don't envy them their jobs. I assume most of them are a bit gun shy from having screaming diva meltdowns when they have to snip a few inches off of their crazy client's heat damaged hair and 'butcher' them.... Honestly, girls. @@MorganDonner Would you be so kind as to post the footage of you doing these hairstyles on yourself in real time? Some of these look absolutely amazing, and I'd like to try them on myself (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), but I'm having difficulty following the blitz-through. I totally understand why you sped those bits up (otherwise I'm sure this would have been several hours long rather than 45 minutes). Thanks a ton, and you look adorable in all of them! 😁
Absolutely brilliant. She clearly did tons of research and practice, and imparted her knowledge beautifully and with great charm. I'm old, I've studied hairstyles informally over the years, but this is the first time I've found anything of this depth and thoroughness! Each style was spot on - hair designers for period movies would do well to follow her example. And damn if she doesn't look good in every single style!
As someone who recently had to cut off all their hair for some pretty personal reasons, seeing you do this absolutely beautiful educational project while also casually taking off more and more of your own hair was somehow very healing to me. So amazing in so many ways!
I had to do have my hair cut short a few years back as well (Damaged right hand with possible unlimited loss of feeling in it) I went to the hair salon and told them to please cut my long hair to a short easily manageable cut before I'm forced to walk around with a mat on my head. After seeing this amazing video I regret not even taking before and after pics or something. @Lymaara: I hope you get to enjoy your shorter hair no matter the reason for it :)
I got my hair cut a few years ago and ever since I have never let it grow over my shoulders. I took it really easily and it is just hair after all. There is so much you can do with it and I think more people should explore with their hair and not try to stay with the current trend
I had to cut all my hair off cause my hairdresser ruined it I asked for a fringe and she cut it very short and also cut all my hair at the back of when I specifically told her not too
@@jazzy3442 Oh no! Cutting your hair short should always be your own decision. Even if it's one forced by circumstance (thanks MS I hated it) but it should still be your own decision. I hope the shorter cut was a good one and for free.
When you took those two pieces and proceeded to cut them. NO REGRETS. Yes, I'm in. I can feel already that this is going to be a roller coaster of hairstyles and hair transformations! Ok, now that I've watched it all: The way this video has been filmed BLOWS MY MIND. I've been trying to recreate the real order of what came first and last in order to do each of one of the hairstyles chronologically, and my head almost exploded. This is AMAZING. This is Lord of the rings filming schedule level. Genius.
i'm honestly most impressed at the planned transitions and filming cuts needed to pull this off between the years/periods/lengths of hair no small feat of logistics!
Professional hairdresser here, I love your commitment to all that hair getting cut off. The light patches in your hair that you talked about is duotrichochromia (duo= 2, trich= hair/scalp, chroma= colour, meaning 2 hair colours) it is a fairly uncommon mutation but ultimately nothing to worry about besides maybe personal taste. It doesn't make you bald faster or get grey hair faster, it's simply just a patch (or few) of different hair colours. There is a form of duotrichochromia however that is more common in men and that is facial duotrichochromia, where the moustache and the beard are differently coloured, usually the moustache can be lighter than the rest of the facial hair.
Before my hubby changed to his present, white "Santa" look, he had no less than four colours in his beard. Now, it's just white, as is his hair. His hair was just dark brown, although greying FAST after we met ... :P
@@TrekkieGrrrl Beards can be a bit funky yeah. I myself have a blend of dark brown, ginger and light blonde hairs growing on my face, not in patches though, just individual hair strands at random locations.
My dad had really dark hair, almost black, but his beard and moustache were decidedly auburn. (His father had carrot-colored hair.) I always wondered what that was called.
What I am really getting from this is we, in general, have a tendency to keep getting styles fluffier and fluffier and bigger and bigger until a generation just decides "okay that's enough of that" and suddenly it deflates and the process restarts.
Its also the same with clothing. Things like sleeves and skirts get fuller or longer or in some way slowly evolves into an extreme where you really have nowhere else to go but down. and the it gets slimmer and slimmer until you have nowhere to go but up.
I find it interesting not only watching the change in hairstyles, which is really cool, but also the explosion of technology over the last 100 years, and most particularly in the last 30-40. I'm only 26, but the technological advances even in my lifetime have been enormous, and that is pretty clearly demonstrated here even though the video is about hair and not technology. This is such a fun video to watch!
my jaw dropped to the floor when you shaved all that hair off, totally didn't expect that, but you still rocked EVERY SINGLE hairstyle, the dedication, the research, and the final results were all masterpieces 🥰🥰
I'm just amazed at how pretty she looked in every hairstyle, not single one fo them looked weird, she just looked THAT pretty and I'm so happy and thankful for every little detail that you showed throughout the whole video. You can sense the passion she has for this just listening to her talk
When you snipped that first bit of hair, I literally gasped, then proceeded to watch in amazement! That was a lotta work you sacrificed for this video, before and after! Dedication, girl, dedication.
What i appreciate in your video as another history buff is that you didnt just pass the pre 20th century cuts in one century you actually did each decade, something historians in general never seem to do
I’d have gotten to the 1610’s, and stopped. This must have taken hours upon hours, if not a week. She has determination, and for that, I watched the entire thing.
A lot of the women in the paintings you referenced had entire teams of people dedicated to doing their hair for them and it took hours. The fact that you were able to nearly replicate them in a short amount of time is incredibly impressive!
As someone who has maintained thigh-to-knee-length hair for the past 5-ish years, I gotta say I definitely had some DISTRESS at the hair coming off. Your dedication to this video is amazing, and you look cute in all of the styles!
@@rahh127A lot of it is just genetics, but I also only use sulfate-free shampoos, use a hair mask/deep conditioner a couple of times a month, and never use heat on my hair. Also, I will swear by Marrakesh by Earthly Body - their oils and Endz cream are amazing, and smell so good, too!

I so often see fashion history people write off the 17th Century as "ugly" but as a fan of the Louis XIII-XIV period in general I found it INCREDIBLE to see portraits that I've studied come to life.
17 century ugly? Disagreed at least on the noble males. 17 century male nobles wore natural long hair (not a wig yet) and did actually dress well (not the boring suits or t-shirts, neither the too much of rococo)
My thoughts during this video: 6:45 min : "What? Did she just cut her hair?!" 31:25 min : "Ok that's what I would call commitment!" 42:19 min : "No way!" 😳 😅 I loved your video, watched the entire transformation and learned a lot about hair style I didn't know before 🤍 Thanks to your commitment for all of us who aren't that brave to try all of these 🙈🤍 and just like someone said before me: This video is a masterpiece 🤍🤍🤍
I have to join all of the other commenters in saying your planning out of all of these different hairstyles in order to make sure you had the right length for all of them was freaking impressive. It also makes a lot of sense now why you didn't mind Abby experimenting on your hair. If it all has to go, you might as well have some fun with it first.
Morgan: I want to get a buzz cut Also Morgan: why don't I make a super detailed video about 500 years of hairdos and haircuts in the process? Great work! (And you look amazing btw!)
By 1870 I thought you have more upstyling skill than ALOT of trained stylists. My hat off to you! Very enjoyable and looking forward to watching the rest. And yes, chopping your hair to style it authentically was an unexpected surprise!
The whole time I was watching I could not stop thinking about just how much effort and planning had to be put into this. This is incredible and I hope it becomes a massive breakthrough video for you! You deserve WAY more appreciation.
The shock value of this video is through the roof. I can imagine a ton of people freaking out with every cut to your hair. It was a very intetesting video and very informative!!! I think I really know now which historical haircuts I like the most
I also was one of those people who freaked out. Not because the hair looks bad on her but because I've been trying to grow my hair out for 2 years and I'm still about 6 months away from my goal of waste Long. I have nightmares when I go to the beauty salon to get my hair trimmed.
@@BS-ne5cr I have the same goal of waist length and I’m about a year or so away from it, I can’t even watch other people have their hair cut in professional salon videos anymore because it feels like it’s happening to me and it stresses me out 😩 this video was painful haha
Yes! I was freaking out! But not for me; as far as I'm concerned, it's just hair, it grows. But I know how people with long hair typically are about it, so it was very surprising to see how blasé she was about it. Good for her. Personally, I just love having short hair now for at least the last decade. The shorter the better!
Watching her long hair made me want to grow it long again, then she kept cutting it...and cutting it...and then the buzz cut? Holy moly!!! This was an amazing video, I can't believe how much work it must have been! Love it!
Seeing the hairstyles (particularly the older ones) outside of paintings and photographs really showed how time consuming a lot of these hairstyles really were
I cannot even imagine how complicated/confusing the behind the scenes was for this video! I mean she literally had to figure out which lengths to do for which decades and do them back to back despite not actually being in order!
She also essentially also had to figure out what lengths she would need to have her hair for each section. While she makes a joke of "getting her long hair back" she either used her old hair as extensions or filmed it out of order. Like props to her for not only researching this and doing her best to be accurate but also the filming and editing needed to get this to flow smoothly out of filming order. It would have required quite a bit of planning and forethought as to how and when exactly to cut the hair (also have to be sure the take for the previous section is right since there are many points of no return in this process).
I‘m a bald man with zero ties to fashion and who doesn’t care about his looks at all. Nonetheless, the depth and dedication you put into this video really fascinated me. No idea why the algorithm recommended it but I’m glad. 🙏🏻
I can't even begin to deacribe the wow factor here! You had to have been bouncing around between decades to allow yourself the correct haircut/style, then the amount of editing at the end so its in chronological order! Plus the fact that you cut so much hair without flinching. Finally, you rocked every single cut and style! Ive never been so wowed by a YT video before! Way to go!!! 👏
Right?! I remember kids ironing their hair before there were electric straighteners, but there I am with my "Brillo pad" or "Q-tip" curls in the back row of school pictures. Teased unmercifully all thru school.
I think that’s partly because before electric irons and straighteners were invented, curly hair was easier to achieve, and partly because before shampooing frequently became normal, curly hair looked better.
Todo mundo usa cabelo liso, acho que muita gente tá assumindo o cabelo ondulado ou cacheado crespo mais ainda sim lógico que existem pessoas de cabelo liso mais realmente o tempo muda muita coisa
Curly, curled, and wavy hair is very trendy right now. Which I love because I have very wavy hair/loose curls and I love accentuating them with my mullet. But when I went to Cosmo school at 23, 6 years ago, we were taught perms for boards to get our licenses and told we'd never do them unless it was for loose curls or beachy waves (in fact we spent a lot more time on relaxing textured hair, which was shitty bc we learned nothing else about textured and coily hair). But now tight curl perms are very much back in and my hair stylist friends all regularly do perms. I think the only time I really see people clinging to straight hair is if they're really into y2k fashion or millennials who peaked in high school.
The first time you casually held up scissors and chopped - without a single bit of fanfare - I gasped and clapped. By the end of this video, STANDING OVATION, MA’AM!! I buzzed mine at the beginning of covid, and have zero regrets. Hair grows, trends come and go, but we get one life. Your video demonstrates that like no other I have ever seen. BRAVO 👏
The first 450 years I was just like “oh!” at all the hairstyles. It helped seeing how they might’ve been constructed and seeing them on an actual person really helped make them feel real. The 1770s in particular I was like “oh that’s like REALLY possible.” Absolutely wild! The last 50 years I was just like “Oh I have a pic of my grandma like that. Oh I have a pic of my mom like that. Oh man I have a pic of myself like that.”
Everyone’s talking about her cutting her hair showing dedication, but can we also just appreciate the absolute headache it must’ve been to plan out the order of filming? She would’ve needed to film from styles that needed the longest cut to shortest cut while still making sure the video made chronological sense and was cut neatly. This probably required a really really detailed outline and script to make sure she didn’t accidentally cut her hair for one decade then realize she still needed it longer to film a different decade.
I am a middle aged dude and I watched this whole thing. I am amazed at the depth and history you went into the hairstyles. Furthermore, the commitment to cutting your hair. Your editing of the video is fantastic as well. Like other commenters on here... this video is a masterpiece video. Great job and thank you for entertaining and educating us.
@@HelloKitty60621 Yeah, I hope someone makes a male version of this. And perhaps a video going further back. I'd love to see styles going all the way back to prior to the Bronze age Collaps all the way to modern times, for different ethnic groups, cultures, nations, continents, minority groups etc.
so refreshing to watch a video where the person who cuts their own hair does not freak out. Morgan is her usual calm self, and I love it. must have taken tremendous time and I really appreciate that she shared it with us. thank you Morgan.
Right?! Not so much refreshing for me as it was just astounding. I was so ready for at least one brief bit of crying but she was completely mentally prepared by the looks of it. I think she may have mentioned in one other video that she cuts her own hair regularly so that's probably how she was so calm, if I'm remembering that correctly.

That was my thought exactly! Especially with having to plan out which styles to do while still with long hair. Needing to rememeber to film each of those styles before chopping, then editing all the footage to get it all in chronological order 👍🙌

I've been trying to recreate the real order of what came first and last in order to do each of one of the hairstyles chronologically, and my head almost exploded. This is AMAZING. This is Lord of the rings filming schedule level. Genius.
I randomly cut chunks of my hair off without hesitation and now I have very short hair

@✧ Lishu ✧ oh, thank you ✨🙏🏻☺️
There are a lot of people with hair that long and I'm one of those people
i'm honestly most impressed at the planned transitions and filming cuts needed to pull this off between the years/periods/lengths of hair
no small feat of logistics!
I was thinking the same thing -- the storyboarding that went into this!
The amount of planning involved boggles my mind....
Indeed! it must have taken quite some time
She had great vision and even greater execution. I was in awe!
Right bc realistically she did not film it chronologically in order of years but the editing presented it like it.
This is one of the best and most thought trough videos about hairstyles through the decade that I’ve seen so far. So cool!
Thank you professional Hairdresser side of UA-cam!
Thank you for this info. I've always wondered about my light patch of hair.
“It gets real big in the 80’s for a bit” LMAO. That apparently applied to the 1580’s as much as it did to the 1980’s. 🤣
Haha my exact thougt!
I know, I think that was the most interesting part, some decades having similar ideas regardless of century
@@aneiasl it’s so true! It’s kinda neat. People don’t change much over the centuries! 🥰
It's a recurrent theme, all the 80s have big hair!
@@aneiasl yup. The 30s are often very extra.
I can’t remember where, but supposedly there was a study that women’s skirts got shorter in general, the better an economy at the time was doing.
And glasses!
This is such a fun video to watch!

she has the facial structure that just about any style goes well with
When you snipped that first bit of hair, I literally gasped, then proceeded to watch in amazement!
She has determination, and for that, I watched the entire thing.
applause to this comment
A lot of the women in the paintings you referenced had entire teams of people dedicated to doing their hair for them and it took hours. The fact that you were able to nearly replicate them in a short amount of time is incredibly impressive!
All the more depressing that the peasants who wanted to look like the Queen Elizabeth could only afford to look like the Dairy Queen.

Awesome hair, Gal! Whoa!
It distressed me too and my hair is a lot shorter than yours or hers!!! I literally gasped when she just so casually cut her hair 😭😭😭

How do you grow your hair out that long!! I've been trying for years and it stays at my hips
I am in awe! It's amazing to me how you were able to do all these hairstyles yourself. I can barely make a ponytail look good on myself 😓

Also Morgan: why don't I make a super detailed video about 500 years of hairdos and haircuts in the process?
The editing alone was amazing... She truly made an amazing experience even better... 🤗
I like how she interrupted herself with the 1800s pixi!
The shock value of this video is through the roof. I can imagine a ton of people freaking out with every cut to your hair.
It was a very intetesting video and very informative!!! I think I really know now which historical haircuts I like the most
can confirm, i was one of the people freaking out
I also was one of those people who freaked out. Not because the hair looks bad on her but because I've been trying to grow my hair out for 2 years and I'm still about 6 months away from my goal of waste Long. I have nightmares when I go to the beauty salon to get my hair trimmed.
Also freaking out. I have very long hair and love Morgan's hair videos. I'm shell-shocked right now!
Yeah that’s what I meant…
This feels like a public service. Bravo, Morgan! ♥️

As someone with curly wavy hair, I’m amazed at how much of hair in the past was styled curly vs today where everyone goes straight hair.
Right?! I remember kids ironing their hair before there were electric straighteners, but there I am with my "Brillo pad" or "Q-tip" curls in the back row of school pictures. Teased unmercifully all thru school.
Fun fact: The iron curler was invented before the iron straightener.
The last 50 years - that part 😂
Everyone’s talking about her cutting her hair showing dedication, but can we also just appreciate the absolute headache it must’ve been to plan out the order of filming? She would’ve needed to film from styles that needed the longest cut to shortest cut while still making sure the video made chronological sense and was cut neatly. This probably required a really really detailed outline and script to make sure she didn’t accidentally cut her hair for one decade then realize she still needed it longer to film a different decade.
When I see her holding a scissors, I was like IS SHE GOING TO CUT HER BEAUTIFUL LONG HAIR?? That's A WHOLE COMMITMENT
I am a middle aged dude and I watched this whole thing. I am amazed at the depth and history you went into the hairstyles. Furthermore, the commitment to cutting your hair.
