Rose Tyler- honestly I have two modes, full glam or a t-shirt and shorts, so I feel that HARD MICHELLE ROSS- Me too!! From the first time we saw them it was clear that they just get each other, and the deep love they have for one another now is so beautiful
This was the video that introduced me to Lolita fashion. The video kept getting recommended to me and one day I decided to watch and I fell in love. I have never been to amazed by such beautiful fashion before and it just spoke to me. Now after 4 whole years of daydreaming of these dresses and 3 years into sewing, I couldn’t have been more grateful to come across this video. It quite literally changed my life

As someone who grew up obsessed with lolita fashion I was just smiling the whole time. Never worn it and never will but I know the feeling of joy at wearing what you truly want and not caring what others think. That's why I love harajuku.
safiya is one of the handful of you tubers that really understands how to respect a culture without overstepping while still giving us quality content, bat kween
I was literally just saying this to my partner as I was watching. She's always consulting actual experts and acknowledging the limits of her understanding and trying to expand them.
It's like wearing a kimono because its pretty and wearing it all wrong, not knowing what it means, and wonder why people are looking at you weird. Also you could tell rin rin was uncomfortable when she compared her clothes to Tyler's gym shorts, that was rude.
Can we all just appreciate how much she goes out of her comfort zone to try different cultural norms, and how respectful she is every time? Like yes queen
It's amazing how in depth Safiya goes into the history, reasoning, and options available for these looks. Her explanations are easily my favorite part of her videos.
My son is trying to hint to me that he wants to try incorporating Lolita style without fully committing to saying it. I'm excited to be on this journey with him 💕 So happy places like this exist and with many kind, open-minded people.

Love the end style. She is so pretty. It really makes me want to try out the Lolita fashion. I just love how she looks in that outfit. I’m so glad she picked that one. She looks fabulous. The makeup and hair really adds to it too.
I dressed in lolita from 2010 to 2012 and had a blast in a glass. I remember plodding around downtown LA in rocking horse shoes running to and from the trains on my way to lolita meetups. I even recognize a couple of the girls in the fairytale boutique shots! It's such a gorgeous style!

I watched this video when it first came out four years ago, and it was my first encounter with lolita. It immediately stuck with me as a look I always wanted to try. I spent two years researching the style near obsessively before trying to use pieces I already owned to make lolita coords as there are no lolita stores in my country and online shopping is not something I trust myself to do. I kept trying for the past couple of years and stayed lurking in the community, never loosing passion for the style despite trying very different styles along the way. Two days ago I got my first ever brand piece and I owe it all to this video. Thank you.

I fell in love with this fashion back in 2009..brought some ita dresses (milanoo, cheap websites etc..) as the usual beginner mistake, but ever since I got my first Angelic Pretty JSK it was all over for me. I've since moved on to baby the stars shine bright since im older now, but i love this fashion.
This video inspired the topic for my end-of-term research paper last year! I wrote about the development of kawaii culture and its relationship with cuteness as rebellion. I hope you're okay with being quoted in an academic article lmao (proper citations were made, of course!)

Seriously, I feel like it looks incredible on her. Especially the blotted burgundy lip and the blush under the eyes. She looks like the most beautiful ghost.
The most refreshing thing about Saf's videos is 1) her soothing, broadcaster/podcaster voice and 2) that she gives us so much knowledge with every video. Honestly the only UA-camr I watch that I look forward to their videos.
@@xlectraheart it's not, it's a common line found in virtually all genres. "Are you a government agent?" "No!" "Exactly what a government agent would say.."
I love how educational and respectful you videos are. You always do your research and try to get local advice rather than just storming in like you know and own everything. It's such a breath of fresh air in the youtube community. Mad props to you .
Safiya and Tyler’s relationship has similar energy to Jenna and Julien’s and it’s one of the reasons I find their videos so enjoyable. Stan healthy and adorable relationships
Stupidgracie that’s a great comparison and I totally agree. I admire how they show genuine love towards each other because they have something special and don’t exploit that for views.
I love how nice a calm the employees were although they didn't know or speak her language. It's so cute how supportive they were Edit: wow, thank you for all the likes!!
I just recently saw a very pretty lady in a beautiful cotton candy pink wig (or it was just her hair, and in that case, wow her hair is amazing) and poofy dress with some cute shoes at a local arcade and I was actually speechless because I never see that kind of thing where I live, but it’s cool to see people express themselves!
Rinrin did a great job with your makeup, you should implement that on your daily makeupppp. But gosh I love rinrin, I hope you can make more videos with her in the futureeee
Heya! Just wanna say that there isn't really a lolita makeup style, and that during old school times, wearing no makeup at all was the norm so you could focus on the beauty of the dress.
I think a pastel/light coloured wig would've made a big difference to the sweet coordinates. But it also might just be that she emanates a gothic aura :)))
Thank you, Saf for clarifying that "Lolita" means something else in Japan, compared to the American definition. Also.... RinRin is frickin' adorable! *
Lolita the book was written by a Russian and first published in France so I wouldn't describe it as an "American definition". But I also appreciated the clarification in difference.
As a lolita, this is one of my favorite videos I've watched where people explore lolita! Thank you for doing such a good job with this and being respectful to the fashion!
Man. My daughter is into Lolita Style wardrobe and the amount of Westerners that think she's dressing up all pervy for older men because of that darn book...it's like no dammit. Just no. They need to watch this video.
@@sewerratwithabaguette1443 Indeed. Many times have I said, "You're the one who's mind went there." Then many start citing the book as to why. Which may just be a weak attempt at justification?
I absolutely love this video, she's so informed and respectful of the culture and Rin Rin and the shop owners are so on board with dressing her up in their styles Like the rewatchability on this video is insanely high
I feel like if I had rin Rin to take me shopping id never feel self conscious again, you can tell in their culture that making the customer feel safe and nice is very important, right down to the clapping when you walk out of the dressing room, it's a small detail but I'm sure that just adds to feeling welcome in that environment, which is so nice when your trying something new ❤️ loved all the dresses and how well you researched this as well
I've got to be honest, When the eyepatch was added to the blue and black dress it reminded me of Ciel Phantomhive from black butler, Like the whole outfit screamed Ciel Phantomhive once that was added

Seriously, I feel like it looks incredible on her. Especially the blotted burgundy lip and the blush under the eyes. She looks like the most beautiful ghost.
Yesss, safiya looking sooo cutee✨
She looks SO good
ロリータファッションが海外でも興味持ってもらえて嬉しい〜!
Safiya always looks beautiful but holy molly did she look gorgeous in that outfit and that makeup!!
ikr! it really suited her and that makeup looked amazing on her wow
Sash so very jealous of how gorgeous she is in everything and I’d love to dress like that xx
The makeup was very complimentary on her!
The most refreshing thing about Saf's videos is 1) her soothing, broadcaster/podcaster voice and 2) that she gives us so much knowledge with every video.
Honestly the only UA-camr I watch that I look forward to their videos.
I honestly can't think of a youtuber that has better video content. I'm always surprised by how much I enjoy each video
"I'm of course not a pirate"
Exactly what a pirate would say..
What movie is that referencing? It sounds familiar ^.^
NaLu Fulfilia_jeiel
Probably pirates of the Caribbean
@@xlectraheart it's not, it's a common line found in virtually all genres.
"Are you a government agent?"
"No!"
"Exactly what a government agent would say.."
This was my comfort video I’d rewatch constantly. The makeup looks absolutely stunning on her
I’m glad saf tried more than one style, even though it may not have been her style. She always seems to get the full experience
I love how educational and respectful you videos are. You always do your research and try to get local advice rather than just storming in like you know and own everything. It's such a breath of fresh air in the youtube community. Mad props to you
.
I admire how Tyler has such a great attitude in these videos. He genuinely likes seeing Safiya happy and hypes her up along the way.
Safiya and Tyler’s relationship has similar energy to Jenna and Julien’s and it’s one of the reasons I find their videos so enjoyable. Stan healthy and adorable relationships
@@stupidgracie3997 genuinely two of my favorite people on this platform
Right! He is incredibly supportive and genuinely excited to be sharing these experiences with her.
Stupidgracie that’s a great comparison and I totally agree. I admire how they show genuine love towards each other because they have something special and don’t exploit that for views.
One question, WHY THE HECK DOES SHE LOOK GOOD IN EVERY STYLE/OUTFIT! She seriously looks so good in everything
RinRin is so pure of heart, aww.. I hope only good things come to her
I love how nice a calm the employees were although they didn't know or speak her language. It's so cute how supportive they were
Edit: wow, thank you for all the likes!!
I ve been to Japan they're all like that 😁
It's their thing being nice to people even if they don't speak their language. It's polite.
@@Creatorsan ok, I just have never been to a country that doesn't speak my language, so I didnt know that's how they were 😊🥰
@@Maelin. I've never been ether but I do know certain places behave in certain ways :/
@@Creatorsan Yeah me too, its like a culture in a sort of way
Also I just have to say that the makeup totally suits you... you should do a more toned down version for day-to-day! Living for the high blush.
I loved it so much I want to have it on myself! Really pretty
*actual footage of a UA-camr behaving ethically in Japan*
Yea thank god they got help from a Japanese native. Alone they probably would have done wrong as many others.
Logan Paul who?
Pewdiepie?
Sun :c c.
what about pewdiepie?
when Safiya opened the curtain with her platform heels, she reminded me of that big bird meme where he kicks down the door LMAO
This is a copied comment
Nah that reminds of shreks somebody once told me
It reminded me of when alice ate the thing (cake?) that made her bigger
I’m wheezing.
@@NAMINE0306 Yeah
Rinrin did a great job with your makeup, you should implement that on your daily makeupppp. But gosh I love rinrin, I hope you can make more videos with her in the futureeee
RinRin is such a sweetheart, a great person to help out trying a new style!
It’s so nice that RinRin wore a very lowkey outfit to give Safiya all the spot light. She’s really nice!
Maryam QUEEN …thats lowkey?
Chloe she means the black outfit she wore the second day :)
"Now we're matching"
Omg was I the only one who thought that was so precious??
Thank you for featuring my makeup 19:26 💖🥰💖 loved your final coord you looked super cute! 😍
T Cake oh my god that’s you! I love your makeup sooo much! It’s so good. Also, I love your style.♥️♥️♥️
@@loll1265 aww thank you so much! 💖💖💖 You are too sweet ^^ I feel super lucky to have been included 🥰
T Cake you definitely deserve it!♥️
Your work is truly stunning,
I love your videos !!
This made me so warm and happy watching RinRin and the shop staff so enthusiastically outfitting you and their genuine pleasure to share
Rin Rin: Let me see
Saf: ** cutely turns to her **
Rin Rin: Cute
Lol I love these two
19:50?
Exactly. This was the moment I decided they work well together :D
I love how every time Safiya comes out with a new outfit, the girls just simultaneously do the little claps
Same
Real friends support each other
It’s so cute!!!😋😋
*little aristocratic claps intensify*
I laughed unexpectedly when Safiya came out being a giant in the very high shoes 😂😍
Honestly same 😂
Same, and it’s late at night. I think I woke my mom up 😂
Kathrine I love you. Salam from muslim Indonesia. Thanks.
I love how respectful she is about everything. She is just so kind and things. I love her so much x
omg Japanese lolita makeup suits you so well!! it brings out your eyes beautifully!!!
Yesss
Agreed! It suited her so well!
Heya! Just wanna say that there isn't really a lolita makeup style, and that during old school times, wearing no makeup at all was the norm so you could focus on the beauty of the dress.
I agree!
The navy and black look was awesome... and then they added the butterflies and it was TO DIE FOR
Yes I totally agree
I definitely prefer the gothic lolita looks on Saf, but I'm not super mad at the more traditional, lighter lolita looks.
I think a pastel/light coloured wig would've made a big difference to the sweet coordinates. But it also might just be that she emanates a gothic aura :)))
I really liked the second to last outfit
The gothic looks actually are more traditional. The sweet stuff has gotten out of hand last fifteen years lmao
As someone who admires Lolita fashion online but has no idea which brands are 'big' and which aren't, seeing Ozz Croce and Q-Pot made me really happy
Thank you, Saf for clarifying that "Lolita" means something else in Japan, compared to the American definition. Also.... RinRin is frickin' adorable! *
What american definition?
@@idratherbewithmycatrightnow theres an infamous book about pedophilia by the same name
Lolita the book was written by a Russian and first published in France so I wouldn't describe it as an "American definition". But I also appreciated the clarification in difference.
ffliberty Could you explain what it is and why people think it’s pedophilia?
@ffliberty humbert literally fantasizes about little girls sexually??? you're saying that's not pedophilic??
As a lolita, this is one of my favorite videos I've watched where people explore lolita! Thank you for doing such a good job with this and being respectful to the fashion!
My favourite thing about her is how respectful and willing to try different things she is
totally agree! ♡
That's hilarious. What is there to be respectful of? It's cosplaying. Lump them right in with furries.
Leslie A the only thing that’s hilarious is you being a bitch 💁🏾♀️
@@UnamusedBouche It isn't cosplay? lolita is a fashion, like goth or decora are fashions
Man. My daughter is into Lolita Style wardrobe and the amount of Westerners that think she's dressing up all pervy for older men because of that darn book...it's like no dammit. Just no. They need to watch this video.
dori411 what book
@@MrCool-lb2gb Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. I think she mentions it in the video. I have to watch it again.
Dang I’m so sorry
I honestly think it’s their problem for thinking of children(?)/teens like that it’s kinda gross.
@@sewerratwithabaguette1443 Indeed. Many times have I said, "You're the one who's mind went there." Then many start citing the book as to why. Which may just be a weak attempt at justification?
"...but they do also make me a giant."
*Literal Amazon princess steps out of the curtain*
I absolutely love this video, she's so informed and respectful of the culture and Rin Rin and the shop owners are so on board with dressing her up in their styles
Like the rewatchability on this video is insanely high
I've watched this video at least 5 times now. Still amazing. I regret nothing.
I’ve seen this video over 20 times so far. Mostly because I just love Safiya, but also because I’m so interested in Lolita.
I’m so glad I’m not the only weirdo who rewatches her videos like 20 times each lol.
I feel like if I had rin Rin to take me shopping id never feel self conscious again, you can tell in their culture that making the customer feel safe and nice is very important, right down to the clapping when you walk out of the dressing room, it's a small detail but I'm sure that just adds to feeling welcome in that environment, which is so nice when your trying something new ❤️ loved all the dresses and how well you researched this as well
I just want a Lolita outfit... There's a side of me that loves to dress up, then there's the other one wearing sweat pants and a sweater
i know... i wish i owned some clothes like this...
Damn...I felt that 😅
I want to try because I'm curious but yeah samee
amazon has many clothes like this!
@@yay5014 sameee, i looove dressing up but my daily style is also just very plain and boring
I've got to be honest, When the eyepatch was added to the blue and black dress it reminded me of Ciel Phantomhive from black butler, Like the whole outfit screamed Ciel Phantomhive once that was added
I love how respectfully Safiya goes about trying out everything she does.
"Giant" Safiya is a perfect allusion to when Alice ate one part of the mushroom/ wafers to grow.
I live for the idea of Literal Giant Safiya
the makeup really suits you! Rinrin did a really good job!
I agree!!
agreed! the whole outfit in general was awesome but the makeup was my favorite part
Agreed it’s so beautiful
Veno Centeno I definitely agree!
