They skipped the 2010s (VSCO girls don’t count as 2010s cause they only appeared for a brief time in 2019). As a 2000 baby I am thoroughly disappointed
I love how EVERYONE is talking about Vsco and NOBODY is noticing how much it changed. My great baba is 96-and still going strong- and was born in 1924. Imagine seeing what she has seen in her lifetime, WW2, the fashion, political drama, the people, new inventions. It’s all so crazy to me😮🤍 And who knows! Maybe Vsco wasn’t very popular until 2018ish. (I’m such an uncultured child that I have NO IDEA when Vsco became a trend)
What's funny too is how not just alot of people wanna look mature now but also like a child with cartoon nostgaia and bright colors named kid core very similar to the harajuku styles in Japan and alternative counterculture scenes of the 60s and 90s both mod & kinderwhore
As a teenage girl is the 2000s, I promise you that no one I knew ever wore a sequin top with a patterned mini skirt. Ever. It was all about American Eagle, Abercrombie, and Hollister.
the 2010s fashion era shouldn’t be represented as “vsco” because a lot of people have different styles such as emo, indie (my personal favorite) and aesthetic and muchh moreee! VSCO is definitely not all our generation wore and i don’t want my kids looking at this and thinking we wore THAT. not all people are into VSCO.
It's supposed to be majority and the major trends. Not everyone in the 1980's dressed like that, there were others styles like grunge or preppy. It's more just like what was trending and all over the place, fashion is what is popular and VSCO was super popular. In the 2010's the major fashion was dressing like you were a camp councillor (pardon me if that was spelt wrong.) I would say if anything aesthetic and the styles you are saying only became super popular in 2020. Also, dressing "VSCO" was pretty popular before tiktok took it and blew it up.
In the 80s they also wore long t-shirts with a belt around the waist as a dress. In the 90s all our clothes were big. Then we started wearing tight pants and knee length tights with bottun shirt
20s 30s 40s and 50s dresses were rarely ever as short as they showed at all. And in the 70s the counter culture was still just that, counter the culture. They were not the norm and most people did not follow that. These videos are so commonly misinformed and so many fashion historians hate these videos just stop or get better resources
I was a teenager in the 90s and i don't remember anyone dressing like that back then. The more prevalent 90s style was more grunge--bulldog shoes, Doc Martens, baby tees, plaid skirts, chokers, tiny backpacks, and neon. Think Empire Records or Dazed and Confused.
There were many styles in the 80s, and I think the coolest is denim on denim, the mini skirt, the baggy jeans, rocker chick (or power chick), glam rocker, the denim vest, blazers, sweaters, the belts, and many more!!!
That 2000's look only starting around the end of the 90's and lasted like a year.. trust me I was teen then and we definitely didn't dress like Lizzie Maguire.. 🙄 what was popular were those ambrocrombie and finch polo tops (in bold but not horribly bright colors definitely no neon highlighter colors like today) with blue jeans and pearls.. pearl necklaces got really popular in 03 at my highschool. So did tight high ponytails with cheerleader bows and flare jeans were hot On the other spectrum, hot topic punk styles were big too.. black big baggy pants with lots of belts that did nothing to hold up said pants, lots of long spiky hair, printed tshirts with band logos and hello kitty in gothic lolita fashion. With a splash of neon pink shoelaces if you're a girl on your all black skatershoes
For 2020's fashion , I think the broad term "aesthetic" would fit because a lot of girls/boys/people are finding themselves in different clothing styles and aesthetic styles . Most are a throwback to the past with a modernised twist
They really don't represent a whole decade. Glamour just gets a lot of things wrong in videos like this one. I don't dislike vsco girls, but they're just not an accurate representation of the 2010s.
@@ashildrtheswift3028 Glamour should just stop doing these videos or find someone who's a proper fashion historian. idk how they manage too mess up like this
i think the fact that they chose a vsco girl outfit to represent the entire decade just shows how every single one of this outfits was not universal, which is pretty obvious. there's no reason to get upset at the creators of the video because they never claimed this is the *only* thing *all* teenagers wore. we know that the 90's/00's had a rise in goth/emo, especially in the teenage community, but you can do your own research about that lol
Don't worry! You're not the only one who is convinced by these videos. I recommend looking up vintage fashion UA-camrs for more accurate videos. I watched a video last night called "500 years of hair" and it's really cool.
“they wore calf length dresses” then why does the dress that she’s wearing barely go past her knees?? this is so inaccurate ( & any video in this format is bound to be inaccurate because not only are they using modern cuts & brands to try & mimic historical fashion but it’s impossible to fully sum up a decades fashion using only one model & outfit )
As a tween for the 2000s, I wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit. Shoulda gone with faded bell bottoms and spaghetti strap crop, or peasant top. Also crimps, they were everywhere. But to any person who wore a shiny blue top with houndstooth plaid skirt and could pull it off the power to you.
2020s: Pajamas. Pajamas were a popular style of outfit often worn since everyone stayed quarantined so it didn’t matter what you wore. It was often accessorised with messy bed-ridden hair and dark circles under the eyes, often caused by a shortage of sleep that was most likely triggered by endless nights of binging kdramas and spending all day on school zooms doing nothing but rethink ur life.

Exactly like what about everything before 2019?
Because if you read it it’s said that the 2010s people followed trends so they just provided us with the latest trend
This video should have been called “teen girl fashion in USA” because vsco is obviously just an American trend.....
Dude it wasnt even a trend in america. It was a joke. The clothing choice makes me question all the other outfits in this video.
It was a thing up here in Canada, too...?
Buzzfeed is in the USA
Char that just doesn’t make any difference
It’s trend on turkey too i don’t think it’s just an american trend
vsco girls were literally a thing for summer 2019 and died out a few months ago.

are we gonna about VSCO girls being a trend for like a year when the dominant themes of the majority of the 2010s was classic pretty with natural makeup, crop tops, denim and nude colors
Yeah
y’all rlly needed to sum up a decade of teen fashion for the 2010’s & came up with vsco?? that was such a short trend at the very end of the decade
By the way the 2000s and 2010s were represented, I doubt the rest were true.

It may not be your style so don’t cancel it

Um the 90's girl looked like she'd walked off the set of Grease. Wayyy off!
90'a grunge/pop ? Where's that at? 🤦🏼♀️
@chesca...totally missed off!! They should have included that!
The 2010’s girl looked more like how I dressed in the 90’s with the exception of the length of the shorts.
This whole thing is incredibly inaccurate.
@@myarenne7342 Just because they have one or a few more pictures of an outfit, does not mean it was popular during that era.

Can we bring the 50’s fashion back though? 🤓
the 2010s fashion era shouldn’t be represented as “vsco” because a lot of people have different styles such as emo, indie (my personal favorite) and aesthetic and muchh moreee! VSCO is definitely not all our generation wore and i don’t want my kids looking at this and thinking we wore THAT. not all people are into VSCO.
not all people are emo or indie
or aesthetic :/
Also the vsco trend lasted less than a year, and they’re using it to represent a whole decade.

Is no one gonna talk about how 1920s girl low-key looked like a mini Emma Chamberlain
I do not know anyone who dressed like that in the 2010's.

The outfit the girl wore first when she started walked in for the 2010's represented the style of today more than what they made her wear after.
So did tight high ponytails with cheerleader bows and flare jeans were hot
On the other spectrum, hot topic punk styles were big too.. black big baggy pants with lots of belts that did nothing to hold up said pants, lots of long spiky hair, printed tshirts with band logos and hello kitty in gothic lolita fashion. With a splash of neon pink shoelaces if you're a girl on your all black skatershoes
For 2020's fashion , I think the broad term "aesthetic" would fit because a lot of girls/boys/people are finding themselves in different clothing styles and aesthetic styles . Most are a throwback to the past with a modernised twist

i think the fact that they chose a vsco girl outfit to represent the entire decade just shows how every single one of this outfits was not universal, which is pretty obvious. there's no reason to get upset at the creators of the video because they never claimed this is the *only* thing *all* teenagers wore. we know that the 90's/00's had a rise in goth/emo, especially in the teenage community, but you can do your own research about that lol
