Nikon does 200 RAW files if and only if the Compressed RAW are selected, it does around 79 RAW with uncompressed RAW. where Canon is doing 173 Uncompressed RAWs.
Jared Polin there was a fineprint for that 200 RAW claim, and even I didn't know it until someone else pointed it to me. One place where Nikon D5 beats Canon 1Dx Mark II is battery life, it has seriously impressive battery life which mirrorless cameras cant even have in their dreams. Croo ookie I still prefer Nikon's Lossless compressed RAW over Sony "lossless" Compressed RAW.
Nikon advertises 153 focus points with 99 cross type. But of these only 55 AF points and 35 cross type are user selectable. At f8, only 15 AF points are available. Where as Canon has 61AF/41 cross type all user selectable even at f8. With all the additional customization capabilities for subject tracking, Canon will be ahead in real life. Add the video capability, the D5 is beaten hands down. And price wise a $500 less. It will not be surprise if Canon 1Dx Mark ii beat Nikon D5 easily in sales numbers at least in the ratio 2:1.
Nicely Done Jared! Can't wait to have it in hand... it's going to be a wonderful new tool! I can't honestly see anyone jumping ship to Canon or Nikon over one new body... thanks for the comparison... I never know what Canon is doing because I just don't use them... great vid!
Go with the one from the system you are using. It's fun to compare these cameras but at the end of the day its whatever system you are building. Only camera testers need both.
Both are tech wonders. Just go with whatever you have glass for. It sounds like they making the D5 be able to shoot 4k for 30min now. Most aren't able to view/stream true high quality 30fps 4K right now let alone in 60fps so I don't really care about that. Sure I know for editing you can do slow mo, but I honestly don't care personally. But to each his own. If you are buying this camera HEAVILY for video then get the Canon. As long as they update the D5 to being able to shoot at least 30 min if you need it then I'd personally go for the D5 (if I was even buying it). It's still VERY high quality 4K video so it's a bit unfair to say it "sucks."
+martinaee Downscaling 4K to 1080p produces a still wonderful image that most stream players and internet speeds can produce. The 60 fps 1080p downscaled 4K with a high bitrate will produce the cleanest 1080 video possible.
True. Which probably won't matter on YT though since all video gets butchered and compressed heavily. I'm not saying you aren't right, but it just doesn't matter to me much. The D5 4k will still be fantastic and we're still in an era where most people can't even stream it or watch it so acting like it's so "inferior" is a bit melodramatic at the moment lol.ArodFanStand
+Dom V. To be fair... who is buying a 6000 dollar pro stills camera for video? There are better cheaper options than either of these right now for video. Video on these is kind of a bonus, but I doubt many are saying: "YES... now I can buy 6,000 dollar 4k camera!"
+martinaee "Which probably won't matter on YT though since all video gets butchered and compressed heavily." I think you're wrong on the notion to assume that as long as YT compresses, then the source quality doesn't matter. On the contrary. If you have better source file (1dxm2), it will hold-up more than a already inferior source (d5). For same reason, I'd rather watch a downscaled 4k video than a native 1080 video.
I do shoot with Nikon, but not a 'brand' guy. I will shoot with whatever I can get my hands on. Would cost too much to swap to Canon for not big enough a difference as I don't shoot all that much video.Besides, the prices these will be, I just can't afford or justify it for the foreseeable future.
I see there are some comments about 1DX Mark II will autofocus in f8 will all focus points and D5 only does 15. There is one big catch to that (another typical marketing). f8 all focus points on 1DX works only with their newest TC. It won't work under any other condition that provides f8.
I'm already a canon user so I would definitely go with the 1DX II (although it is WAY above anything I could ever afford), the higher FPS ist just amazing. I just hope Canon finally caught up on Dynamic range. I used a Sony A7R for a month next to a 5D Mk3 and my min was blown, Sonys Image Quality was simply outstanding.
Hey Jared, one question about 4K on the Canon: Does the Canon use the full sensor for 4K or crop like the Nikon? It sounds like they are using the whole thing because the frame grab mode would be messed up otherwise.
i shot nikon for years way back in the film era, Of course we used Hassleblads for portraits. Until Nikon gets that greenish yellow problem fixed. I'm sticking with canon. Currently using the eos 1dx and the Nikon D3s which is the last pro camera that nikon made that doesn't have that problem. I love the feel of nikon and wish they would fix this problem. I have a ton of Nikon lenses i'm holding on to.
I have nikon dx glass. i shoot a lot sports and the iso of my d2xs is 800. Not that good for low light. So for my next camera when i get that much cash which should i go full frame nikon maybe ( d3s or d4 ) or canon (1ds mk ii or mkiii)? regardless i need better class for the full frame versions. What should i get?
Is the DualPixel AF not available in the 80D instead of 70D? I had my Hands on on the only testing Model in Switzerland and it was really great. Theyve locked the Card slot, so i couldnt test the ISO-Perf that much but it is a really great Machine!
Nikon D5 hands down for stills I have plenty of GH4's for video. I currently shoot with 3 x D4's with fixed prime lens's one of them a 200 F2 VR2. Holding the D1X (like you said) is holding a unbalanced brick (not that bricks are balanced). Shocked how bad the D1X felt in the hands since I am life long Nikon shooter. Was looking at moving over due to the faster focus on D1X vs D4. Excited about the better fast focus on the D5. Held off on the D4s in anticipation of the D5. My XQD is on preorder from NPS!!! Great job as usual. Some of my second shooters shoot with 5D Mark iii and I process all the output. Canon is so far behind Nikon on low light noise and color and flash output (in real life run and gun wedding photography). With 1,000,000 images shot annually and processed on an EIZO monitor it's so noticeable in those two scenarios that Nikon is "The King of Quality". Hopefully Nikon feels it should discount the D5 to $5,999 to compete with Canon so that I can save a grand on unit 2 and 3 and get two more SB5000's. Nothing wrong with good competition to drive the quality up and the prices down.
These two cameras are awesome, but Canon take the lead for video. And if you really need a flagship (i mean REALLY) for what ever reason, and need serious video capability, the answer is on the table. Since vid today plays a very important role in media, Canon 1DXII seems to be the obvious choice. Talking just about the machine and specs obvious.
Well said! Mr. Jarid. The best camera review between Canon vs. Nikon flagship cameras on you tube ( non biased ) by all means, if you have the money to spend might as well get them both!
I am very interested to see how the canon does with its video. With the DCI at 60 fps that is what is expected to come out of the Panasonic GH5, whenever that finally gets released. Id be interested how their video capabilities match up with each other. Then maybe you are looking at a GH5 as your video shooter and the nikon for stills, if you cant afford to get the nikon and canon 1dx ii
+DracariaEntertainment GH5 will also be a crop sensor making a 14mm a 28mm and a 70mm a140mm and poor low light performance with its much smaller sensor.
Hi Jared-I've been in bed with NIKON for over 20 years so I definitely go for the NIKON for Photos Shoots and I'll use the CANON for videos. Plain and simple! What do you think?
It all comes down to which has the better sensor, and auto focus, e.g., will you be able to get at least a somewhat acceptable image at 1600 ISO? For the canon, will you be able to rent one? e.g, see if you can take it to 3200ISO without it becoming Swiss cheese in the middle of a blizzard..
On all the reviews I've watched the Nikon d810 performed and look better than the canon and can film in flat profile which is amazing for colour grading. For photos the Nikon was much sharper when zoomed in a picture example the details of someone's face etc or a wall. Maybe wait because who knows they might have new cameras that are alike the 2 but with 4K which would be amazing.
Great overview, Jared! You missed though a very important point about autofocus. The new Canon will autofocus in f/8 with all cross-type sensors and the Nikon with just 15? (I thought).
Fro - you are spot-on. Would be cool if you could shoot a still on both cameras. Let me see noise, artifacts and so on at a million ISO. (the more I thought about it, YOU pick the ISO). Fringing, etc. We already know the Canon would blow the Nikon out of the water on video. But stills pushed to high extremes? That would be cool to see sir.
Great video Jarad, as always! Question, which of the Canon features do you think will be in the 5D mk iv when they finally decide to bring it out? The 4K shooting?
To put it simply, if I had to choose, it would be Nikon before Canon. Before I choose though, I want to see what the Pentax full frame will have on it.
+phynx2006 Nah, Don't care much for the mirror-less cameras. I'm not saying they are bad by any means because they are better then not having any camera at all. Thing I like about Pentax is, I can put any lens made by Pentax over the last 60 years on my camera plus any other lens that was made with a M42 screw mount.
+lick jam I run Pentax glass and yes you are right in that you loose all auto functions. If you listen to Jared Polin long enough, he tells people to get out of auto anyways. The reason I would take a Nikon before a Canon is that I have held and used a Nikon and they seen to be well built. Canon, on the other hand, their lens line up is like no other. It seems that Canon makes a lens in just about every focal length anybody could want.
Only just seen this Video , I would go for the Nikon All day long . If i could afford it i think im a Nikon lover full stop , Being poor from the steel city of Sheffield ( Wednesday) England i bought the Nikon D7200 with the 55 - 105 But would love to own a D4 or D5 at some point but i would like to gain some good glass first .........Great Stuff Fro ....Keep up the good work son .
We will just have to wait and see for more hands on reviews and hardcore field test with both of these Monsters. Therefore still waiting for that Canon DR. There was a rumor saying it has 15-DR I hope is confirm. Still waiting on the 5D Mark IV release.
I mean, both of these releasing just means that the industry is moving that much more forward. That's the way I'm looking at it. It's good news for us consumers. 2016 is looking good.
Also, isn't the D5 4k recording 3 minutes because that's how long it can record before hitting the 4096MB file size limit and doesn't it just record on a new file continuously? I think that's sounds like a simple firmware update, considering that it sounds like the D5 runs their cards in FAT32, as opposed to the 1DXII running in exFAT.
Patient 71 Yeah, I thought about that, too... idk, I don't really look at these cameras and think about their video capturing capabilities, so much as their still capabilities.. but having the tech inside only means that it'll trickle down to future, non $6000 cameras. Progress. lol
Well done, and thank you. A clear exposition of the specifications. I had been looking for your comments, as you are one of my trusted sources of information.
You forgot the battery life... Nikon (3,780 shots (CIPA)) and Canon (1,210 shots (CIPA)) and "But there is a catch - you will have to use the newest LP-E19 battery on the 1D X Mark II to get 14 fps" photographylife.com/nikon-d5-vs-canon-1d-x-mark-ii
Having moved from Canon to Nikon in 2015, I have to agree that Canon tends to do better AF, not only in their cameras but also their lenses. Nikons new G series primes are an AF embarrassment. Still, Canons DR has been lagging behind for a few years now, and that's a big deal to some people.
+gurudeclan Losing in DR means you still getting a photo but losing in AF in another word means out of focus just producing useless photo speed without accuracy is a total crap, not to mention it is slower
***** Not true. Depends what you're shooting, and what's important to you. If I was shooting sports, I would shoot Canon. But I shoot portraits, so I choose the superior image quality of Nikon.
Yup you are right, Nikon have superior image quality in terms of DR and ISO thanks to Sony's incredible sensor technology Normally sports journalist will prefer canon over Nikon generally, but in Landscape photography Nikon have better performance than Canon due to DR and the structure of the sensor Nikon tends to have more colour density in Green and Blue whereas Canon have higher density in Red, that's why Nikon producing bluer sky and greenish forest, while Canon have better skin tone as they are richer in red, where Nikon users find it very hard to match Canon's natural skin tone in PS Nikon have slight advantage in Strobe flash, but it is still hard to compete with canon's richer skin tone due to the nature of their sensor In portrait photography, where we play a lot with the artificial light, we don't have any struggle in low light issue, and we don't see any problem in DR as it is just a very tiny different If, I mean if DR is a real issue then we automatically look for the best solution, the medium format camera, way better than any Full Frame format can deliver, we can hardly find a reason to go Nikon unless one's has built up his system in Nikon. If you don't care about skin tone and close up details and play a lot with strobe flash then Nikon will be the best for you. I love both Nikon and Canon, I owned Canon DSLRs and Nikon Film SLRs, they are just so classic and lovely to play with :)
Don't forget the Canon offers all focus points at f8 now. Wildlife shooters are going to love that. You can also strip 8.8mp jpegs from video from the Canon. Oops, sorry, I used the 'J' word. If I was in the market to go Nikon or go Canon and wanted one of these bodies I think I'd be torn between the two. EDIT: Ignore all that, Jared, I just watched your other video.
Nicholas R.M. Well. People nowadays want 2 things in one. So both companies try to do that with their DSLRs and of you notice some shows or some movies are infact shot with DSLRs not so much with video cameras anymore
Nikon for the better image quality (less noise, better dynamic range) and much better handling Canon for the better video quality (but then I would take Sony/Pansonic) Would love to test that beast.
I wouldn't order new cameras just yet. I will switch from 1DX to 1DX ll by end of the year. Remember guys that the new released cameras are not 100% spot on. Both cameras need to be tested first and bunch of firmware's have to be released to fix the issues with the newborn.
I know I'm old, but... does the 1D shoot at 24fps (like my T5i does)? All this 4K, 60fps means nothing to me. I personally hate the look of 60fps. It's great for video games, but not real life motion. to answer my own question.. yes, yes it does- Bugs me that a selling point is 60fps. I guess you young kids like that kind of thing. haha
+Zed Chuva 60p is the max it will do at 4k. It will also do 30/25p and 24p. 60p isn't just for smooth playback, but for slow-motion shots. Rendering at 24p gives your 60p shots a 2.5x slow mo!
I don't understand the spec comparison and guess work. If you shoot near uncompressed MPEG, it'll look great vs badly compressed JPEG. Formats mean nothing, even bitrate says very little as an old, bad codec can make giant files with crap video quality, but a newer algorithm can get much smaller files with higher quality. Remember when we streamed tiny Real Media video? Now we're streaming 4k video and even that looks like crap compared to what comes out of a camera before compression. Let's actually test the cameras...
Why did you make a video about the flagship models of both Canon and Nikon? You said yourself that your target is beginners and have done nothing to help advance the beginners into intermediate and pro. Please correct me if I'm wrong but you have no interest in appealing to pro photographers of whom would purchase these cameras. Help me understand the reasoning of making/posting this video on your channel.
+Just Saying I agree with you, when I got out of film there is a lot of things I looked at and the first thing I looked at was me, there is probably more parts of me then parts of any camera system. The first was money, what I would be shooting, type of climate and so on. To say the cameras are totally different is a slight miss, I feel I can take the 1Dx mark II and do a great portrait and the 5Dsr to a sporting event.
scoobygpc of course you can shoot a great portrait with a 1dx and (its a bit harder) shoot a sport event with a 5dsr. you can even do both with a 60d. its about what the camera's are made for. they are both made for different types of photography and don't compete with each other. the complement each other. if i where a sports photographer, a 5dsr just isn't the right tool for the job.
+Just Saying yep I went to shoot photos yesterday with the 5DS and reaffirmed me I have it good. Ima keep my camera and maybe slide by using the 1DX MKII money for 3 Profoto B1's. Then I would be on a whole nother level
I would go with Canon since I have Canon Now.. I do agree that Nikon will edge out a bit in stills.. Maybe not quality of image or sharpness which I think will be close to equal.. But for action shooters that need it. Since I am really heading toward film making I love the canon video features you described and I believe it will be in the bag of many pros and even Hollywood studio pros to compliment their C500's etc. I would often be taking stills from my 4K videos. This will REALLY be great for wedding photographers who want to shoot video during the ceremony and being able to grab so many different moments that may be missed with taking photos. 30 or even 60 frames every second will be available to them. They will be able to deliver both cinema quality Video and Capture stills that most will miss. For these weddings will be great to have a second shooter there as well with a high megapixel camera for those really high detail shots. A pro wedding photographer would have a winning kit with the 1DX MK II and a 5DS. Along side a great set of lenses 11-24, 24-70, 70-200 and a Macro.
About the focus points * Canon has few triple cross type(not just double) focus points while nikon will probably have just double. Triple cross types are way more accurate than double.
if you care money or video then canon but if not about money and you dont care about video then nikon. if u all ready use canon and have many canon lens then u pick canon but if nikon then nikon and anyway if i need video then i can buy video camera.
I would like to believe that I understand enough about photography that it would not matter to me which one I had I could make it work for me. However with that being said if I had to choose one I would pick the Canon. The Canon seem to be the better tool that fits my style.
I'm a little sad at the price. Not that I don't think it's worth it lmao, just out of my price range. It's just too bad for filmmakers/videographers that the camera is so expensive because it's an overall beast of a camera. I would like if canon did a decent stills camera with that beautiful 4K and 120fps that would compete with the Sony A7sii. Maybe let's see what the 5d iv has to offer :)
Nikon is ALWAYS better on photos, Canon/Sony rule the video (they make cinema & camcorders) one of these days I'll actually have to shoot some video on my D810 (haven't done so in the year I've owned it)

You have to mention the crop mode on each camera. 1.5X for 4K on the Nikon, 1.3x for 4K on the Canon. Canon wins!
Canon is the clear winner if you are buying for the first time, however I would go with Nikon purely due to the fact I already have a load of Nikon lenses.
Both are amazing cameras. I've been in bed with Canon for a long time and now I am too old to have an affair with Nikon. :)
+Wesley Jones Best Nikon vs Canon comment ever :-)
+Jonathan Pearson HoHoHoHo LoL
+Wesley Jones that's gross :-\
+sonomoha are you seriously taking it seriously? 😂 it's not that deep fam
+Wesley Jones I agree I have way too many Canon glass.. but I'm not blind to Nikon. Great job Nikon.

akitori27 What? Canon has never made a compressed raw format. So what are you talking about?

Today, I'm proud to be a Canon addict (:
can you tell me which camera you are using for this video?
I would go with the 1dx mk ii because I already have Canon glass and I'm a sucker for the high fps and the customizable autofocus.
great review of capabilities. straight forward, no stuttering and dragging it out. thank you.
Sold all my Nikon gear last year, i'm getting the Canon 1dx mkii soon, gonna love the video performance.

Same, I dont know how people get enough money for these. ???
Doesnt the D5 have 2 Expeed 5 processors, one only for the focusing system and the other one for the rest?

thoughts on coming canon 80d
Canon wins in the video department Nikon in the photo that's 100% accurate
+Allen Gopro wins photo by small margin but loses video by a huge margin. Both awesome though.
Very nice review.......I know what camera i'm going to get with the help of your review.........
With your Atomos Shogun and Assassin you are better of with Nikon D5 for 4K recording, Canon 1D x mk II can't do external 4K recording.
Do you ever use RED cameras? I'm wondering what your thoughts are on them?
Thanks!
Great camera! I have the 1dx love the fact i could shoot with both cards but why would they do CFast And CF why not keep it the same?

It all comes down to which has the better sensor, and auto focus, e.g., will you be able to get at least a somewhat acceptable image at 1600 ISO?
For the canon, will you be able to rent one? e.g, see if you can take it to 3200ISO without it becoming Swiss cheese in the middle of a blizzard..
Canon wins because I already own a few lenses. LOL
Nikon for stills. You forgot to mention that Nikon has much better dynamic range.
Next time the comparision point would be: Which DSLR has the best signal of receiving call
I'm so heavily invested in Canon glass it's a no brainer. !DX II already ordered..
hey jared! canon 5d mark iii nikon d810 or should I wait?
On all the reviews I've watched the Nikon d810 performed and look better than the canon and can film in flat profile which is amazing for colour grading. For photos the Nikon was much sharper when zoomed in a picture example the details of someone's face etc or a wall. Maybe wait because who knows they might have new cameras that are alike the 2 but with 4K which would be amazing.
+dominickd16 thanks man :)
I’ve been longing to have a dslr but some people said it doesn’t matter which camera you have it depends on the person.
I have a couple of pieces I would like you to critique when u have a chance...thank you
which one for wedding photography?
+Ĉãll Ḿè MãŘįõ Nintendo 3ds with the rear camera.
Canon
Motorola razer flip phone
+Ĉãll Ḿè MãŘįõ Pinhole camera made from a shoe box - light weight, collapsible and cheap. Also, you could use the exterior for advertising ;)
Kodak disposable cameras are the way to go for weddings.
To put it simply, if I had to choose, it would be Nikon before Canon. Before I choose though, I want to see what the Pentax full frame will have on it.
+bigdave46148 That's a pretty "big" comment, why not just get it over with and go for a mirror-less Sony, that's simple enough hahaha
+bigdave46148 so do you have Pentax glass? Nikon glass or none of the above.
+bigdave46148 even if thats true you'd have none of the auto functions that the body provides being 60 bloody years old.
Can 1DXm2 compare with C300m2?
Both are EF mount, 4K 60fps, but 1DXm2 is so much cheaper!
6d mark ii any news ???
Nikon photo win video lose. Cannon lose video win. Conclusion: buy D5 and a real video camera.
+ryanyomomma could also be heat issue. lots of cameras that can record 4K are hampered by heat.
Nikon will probably destroy the Canon on Dynamic Range.. as usual.
+gurudeclan yeah (base ISO) but not on higher ISO levels.
+gurudeclan Losing in DR means you still getting a photo
but losing in AF in another word means out of focus just producing useless photo
speed without accuracy is a total crap, not to mention it is slower
*****
Not true. Depends what you're shooting, and what's important to you. If I was shooting sports, I would shoot Canon. But I shoot portraits, so I choose the superior image quality of Nikon.
Yup you are right, Nikon have superior image quality in terms of DR and ISO thanks to Sony's incredible sensor technology
Normally sports journalist will prefer canon over Nikon generally, but in Landscape photography Nikon have better performance than Canon due to DR and the structure of the sensor
Nikon tends to have more colour density in Green and Blue whereas Canon have higher density in Red, that's why Nikon producing bluer sky and greenish forest, while Canon have better skin tone as they are richer in red, where Nikon users find it very hard to match Canon's natural skin tone in PS
Nikon have slight advantage in Strobe flash, but it is still hard to compete with canon's richer skin tone due to the nature of their sensor
In portrait photography, where we play a lot with the artificial light, we don't have any struggle in low light issue, and we don't see any problem in DR as it is just a very tiny different
If, I mean if DR is a real issue then we automatically look for the best solution, the medium format camera, way better than any Full Frame format can deliver, we can hardly find a reason to go Nikon unless one's has built up his system in Nikon.
Who cares about video on a top of the range DSLR? Get a video camera if what you need to film a movie, not a still camera!
Nicholas R.M. Well. People nowadays want 2 things in one. So both companies try to do that with their DSLRs and of you notice some shows or some movies are infact shot with DSLRs not so much with video cameras anymore
I'm really liking the canon touch screen on this. I really hope the 6d mark II uses this sensor or something similar!
I like that you're a Nikon guy but can still give a balanced a fair review, thanks!
Nikon for the better image quality (less noise, better dynamic range) and much better handling
Canon for the better video quality (but then I would take Sony/Pansonic)
Would love to test that beast.
I wouldn't order new cameras just yet. I will switch from 1DX to 1DX ll by end of the year. Remember guys that the new released cameras are not 100% spot on. Both cameras need to be tested first and bunch of firmware's have to be released to fix the issues with the newborn.
sorry you cannot select focus points using touch screen in D5 only swipe pictures. Canon allows that
Why does that camera have GPS?
I like the swooshes when the scene changes.... it's the little things.
What do You mena once 2 is better than one and then twice more ISO is the same?!!!!
Nikon bodies feel weird in my hand regarding gripping it. I don't know why though
For me I'd go Canon for the reason you said. Shooting video and photos, I'd rather have more on the video side than the still side.
i m doing photography and video both together.. i m going for nikon d5 ..canon 4k files are tooooo big a 1mint video file size is around 15gb
Simple pick, Canon, I don't have the money after getting the 5Dsr.
tie breaker is glass Canon for me.
Thanks Boss Man Fro
I'm in same boat I bought the 5DSR
+scoobygpc the 5ds(r) is a completely different camera, if one needs a 1dx a 5ds is not good enough. if one needs a 5ds, a 1dx isn not good enough...
+Just Saying
I agree with you, when I got out of film there is a lot of
things I looked at and the first thing I looked at was me, there is probably more
parts of me then parts of any camera system. The first was money, what I would
be shooting, type of climate and so on. To say the cameras are totally different
is a slight miss, I feel I can take the 1Dx mark II and do a great portrait and
the 5Dsr to a sporting event.
scoobygpc of course you can shoot a great portrait with a 1dx and (its a bit harder) shoot a sport event with a 5dsr. you can even do both with a 60d. its about what the camera's are made for. they are both made for different types of photography and don't compete with each other. the complement each other.
if i where a sports photographer, a 5dsr just isn't the right tool for the job.
+Just Saying yep I went to shoot photos yesterday with the 5DS and reaffirmed me I have it good. Ima keep my camera and maybe slide by using the 1DX MKII money for 3 Profoto B1's. Then I would be on a whole nother level
canon has dual-pixel tech in the sensor itself meaning better focus when in live view
good unbias review. keep up the good work. I'm a canon and my brother is a Nikon guy.
Jared has joined the darkside of the (Canon) force.
It's true. I have seen most of his reviews..(Canon... vs Nikon...), He chose Nikon.
how about 4K HDMI out?
people does mean that "EV -3" means underexposure by 3 stops? Like attach a 0.9 ND filter and you have -3 EV. It isn't same thing as -3 LV!
Nikon D5 The best Camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why I watch something that I will not ever buy
About the focus points * Canon has few triple cross type(not just double) focus points while nikon will probably have just double. Triple cross types are way more accurate than double.
Man I think this might be a good upgrade from my T3i.
mjpeg is too big but less processing as it keeps the heat down.....very high on hard drive storage
Ordered the D500
if you care money or video then canon but if not about money and you dont care about video then nikon.
if u all ready use canon and have many canon lens then u pick canon but if nikon then nikon and anyway if i need video then i can buy video camera.
i dont think you was fair cause when i nikon out shined the canon you didnt give nikon all the checks it deserved example iso and mp
I would like to believe that I understand enough about photography that it would not matter to me which one I had I could make it work for me. However with that being said if I had to choose one I would pick the Canon. The Canon seem to be the better tool that fits my style.
Fair comparison. Good job
I'll go with Canon Eos 1DX Mark II
Christian Rasmussen me too
I'm waiting for a hands on review but however a great video!!!
Maybe let's see what the 5d iv has to offer :)
also the new glass for canon is getting better than ever
5d mk iv?
+Justin Yanger nothing
+Justin Yanger Canon 5DX :)
+Justin Yanger 6d mk ii?
+Justin Yanger - target is 2020 :P
Justin Yanger pentax 645z??
Nikon is ALWAYS better on photos, Canon/Sony rule the video (they make cinema & camcorders) one of these days I'll actually have to shoot some video on my D810 (haven't done so in the year I've owned it)
You have to mention the crop mode on each camera. 1.5X for 4K on the Nikon, 1.3x for 4K on the Canon. Canon wins!
Nikon d5 because for me camera is really meant for taking picture and for me steel picture is more important for me thats why ill take the nikon.
Canon is the clear winner if you are buying for the first time, however I would go with Nikon purely due to the fact I already have a load of Nikon lenses.
