Quentin Reynolds this is a day in the life of an officer (low rank officer but still an officer) so it's presumably entirely different compared to an enlisted rank
I work as a software manager and my day is 10 times more stressful and physical than the army by the looks of things. I start with a run into work and I don't get to sit and ponder over my food. This guys life looks relaxed to say the least.
Ashling Malone he is an officer which means he gets to relax and not answer to anyone except the XO which is the executive officer and the CO which is the commander. All this gym time and him walking to work when he wants to is officer bullshit. Enlisted have it way worse it’s more manual labor and long days. He’s built like a tank because he can go to the gym for hours without anyone calling him making him work till 8 or longer.
@@rasher331 I have a feeling his can go to SHIT in a real hurry...with no opportunity to resign. I know from my time in '86-'88 (as an 2LT, 1LT) that when you were "on" (whether time and energy draining non-war [back then...not counting ongoing Cold War]), you didn't have time for shit. But when you were off, you tried to make the most of it. I had little luck myself because when I got back from field, I was behind two weeks of meetings, staff shit, nuke surety drills (Arty BN S-2). But...that was a long time ago. I was a workout dog but I sadly gave it up during my time with Uncle Sugar. One of the reasons I moved on. And of course, as soon as I resign, Cold war, after 45 yrs, ends and my friend comes to Ft. Polk (yr after I leave) and tells me how there's no training money and he spends all his time...in the gym (humble though it was)!! Gotta luv it.
Dear Nick, as a medical student who has many ROTC personnel who I study with, I often wonder if the jacked and strong public image (as you display) of the military is typical of the average service person, or merely a dedicated and vocal percentage. FYI, you're awesome and an inspiration
Theres more fit people in the military than there are in the civilian sector but id say 20-30% of the people on any base are the “buff military image”. Wish it was closer to 90% but alot of peoples jobs dont require them to be in shape
Nick! Any aspirations for Ran Bat (not just school) or selection/Q man? I did both during my time. Keep that PT up and don't be afraid to aspire to serve in that higher capacity brother. It will also inspire your troops... After OCS (I was also an 11A, prior service though), I actually felt that FTXs drained troop strength/work rate (PT scores always go down) and were NOT good indicators of duties during deployment/battle rhythm. Also, during my 8yr tenure, I never got WHY joes respected the tabs so much-I actually think it is more envy than respect. When youre triple tabbed, ppl ask stupidest questions and look at you like you're another sprees or something. You're still young-put in that 4187 for selection bro, trust me you won't regret it
Great video! I'm awaiting selection to attend OCS with the Marines and to see (even if it's Army) a perspective about day to day activities as a platoon leader is very interesting. I especially liked the interview with your platoon sergeant. Kill!
hey man you really motivated me to get off my ass and join. I'm going in to be 11B and have the rank of an E2 from my 4 year investment in J.R.O.T.C. Thanks for being such an influence on my life man. thank you and stay awesome.
1st...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!! I support 110% our military. I love your attitude, you take your time in the military with pride. Both of my sons are Army, one just finished his 6 year commitment and the other just started... I think you will make a awesome leader and hope my son get station where you are and under your PL leadership... Thank you again for your service.... May God be with you...
I was a platoon leader in Germany for two years and I can say that in the 9 years i've been back in the states, I can say that I'm surprised at what is still there, even in Asia. When I got back home, I saw a vine (Yes, I know, a vine) from a guy back in Germany. It blew me away with nostalgia, much like this one. This we'll defend!
I loved the part 4:15ish talking to the Platoon Sergent. I'm USMC Enlisted Infantry. My best Platoon Commander was 3rd generation officer and 2nd generation Naval Academy. My Platoon Commander nailed it. His dad (like his dad before) busted his little (I'm special, I'm an officer) bubble and told him to learn every thing he possibly could from his Platoon Sergent and everyone else under his command. They have experience, you don't. Our first "Get to know you formation" was amazing. The other platoons were pissed off about getting another butter bar. Ours was in a state of shock. "I think he's going to be all right". He then told us they guys history. This was peace time, but our senior enlisted had combat experience. The Platoon Sergent, in this video, seemed to be as diplomatic as possible. What did he think of you? He thought you were a worthless drain on his resources that he had to train. The question in his mind was "will this be an easy trainee?" or "pain in the ass trainee?" DON'T be a pain in the ass. Learn everything you can. If what you "know" contradicts what your enlisted "know" listen. And listen again. Ask why they think they are right. And What can you do better.
MY father was stationed at camp casey there's an awesome pizza place called hallelujah pizza it's amazing you should definitely visit it. I can give you there info if you want to
This is nice! I am also an infantry platoon leader in Korea. its surprising that you are now in Korea. Thanks for your service and deployment in this country!
When I was in the Army I spent most of my time powerlifting and online college. The most I've pulled in the gym was a 500 benchpress, 700 deadlift, 700 squat and still passed my PT test.
So amazing watching this for first time while I'm following Nick for a year now and I can see how much he have been improved at every field In his life.
@Hammerschlägen M but all that shit aside, if things are done right by both NCO and junior officer, by the time LT makes it to Captain, he, by his own learning and observation and trial and error, combined with guidance from NCO, should be on his way to being an effective leader. Or are you going to say that top runs company and capt, too, is an idiot? I guess that goes to BN, where the SGM is in charge of BN maneuver tactics. I get what youre saying until kid can find the men's room but if that silly shit goes on two long, I'd guess THAT Lt would not be around long...certainly not past Cpt.
he does want to smack him but he needs to act professional on camera. all of this is rehearsed. if i pull out a phone or camera to record anything and i am not the PAO then i get people screaming at me.
+Alessandro Pangia not sure why he is saying he plans the pt sessions though. the junior enlisted should be doing the planning and performing all the instruction and in charge of the PRT.
Jeez, you mean enforcing political ideology and arms deals. You guys need to drop the hard on you have for people in the army. It's literally just another job in this country.
New guy here. Ex Marine. EAS 1992. Thank you Nick for the tour and how you guys do things these days. Thanks to youtube I can keep up with whats going on in the military. Nick tell me what you think about the news lately about these ex military guys ambushing police officers and killing them.
I love that enlisting is a source for a lot of people to find purpose. The narcissistic side of me says, don't ever say something is hard. I'm really out of shape and can meet every Navy PT qualifier.
keep doing military videos man. gives your channel an edge other fitness channels dont have. Also, youre not going to be in much longer so use it as a tool while you have it!

I really appreciate videos like this that open the eyes of those who don't know what things are really like and just assume. Really eye opening, and honestly an awesome point of view. Thanks for sharing your life.
Prior enlisted Navy here, love your videos. I may have been part of the E4 mafia, but I am trying to go OCS Army (I know, I know). Keep up the great work sir!
Dang it’s crazy how I watched this video before joining. Now I’m at camp Casey working out at that very gym (Carey fitness center) that you are in this video.
Seems like I am going to use some of the meals you Prep. I'm loosing weight. I'm at 245. Was 199.1 last year December 11th. I was 265 in may/June last year. Did a crash diet. My best friend passed away dec. 11, and I stopped caring and gained weight. I have been going to the gym twice a week for the last two week. Trying to make it atleast 5 days. Thank you for your service. You are pushing me to get back into shape and I know it's a long short but would like to get into shape as you are.
Good Evening, sir I am a high school student living in Seoul. I guess you would be re-assigned into somewhere else, since you said that it is fifth month in nine month deployment to South Korea in your video. But still, I really want to thank you for your service from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your effort to make my country a more safer place to live.
+Vipermilsim-22 Reserve Officers' Training Corps during college you take military classes and have pt 3 days a week you can do that for 4 yrs also receiving a scholarship or you can do it for 2 years after you complete a 28 day leadership training course in kentucky. Search army rotc to find out more.
I am impressed, I never saw Army guys running and lifting as much as you are,or were, except for Rangers! I am a Marine who has done training with Rangers and been stationed at a Army base before!
There were lots of soldiers stationed with me at Bragg that lifted and ran a lot on their on. The Army has the best of all the Branches the Gyms, Field Houses, and Workout equipment. Check out U.S. Army 1st Sergeant Diamond Ott based out of Ft. Hood. He has lots of videos on UA-cam. The guy is a beast.
Thanks for your service brother! I was about to join up at 18 but the chief of police said id have a full time job as soon as i finished the academy so I decided to do LE. If you ever leave the military you can be my beat partner any day!
23years 11Boo....Was at Camp Hovey Korea 77-78, 1/23 Inf, and wow how stuff has changed. We lived in quanset huts, tin half moon shacks essentially, had to light fires under the outside oil tank to keep it liquid enough to flow to inside stove in winter, our PT equipment was a broom handle with both ends having a bucket with hardened cement, and a pull up bar. We ran to the ASP between Hovey and Casey, or up the yama between Hovey and TokoRi. Sterno cooking Ramen de canteen cup was our usual only 'snack' other than mess hall hours, and we still had ration cards. We had the PX, and little other than snack food and soda, healthy food was not an option, and we were rationed at that.Traditions never change, just the times, I saw a video of Camp Hovey as it is now, and did not recognize the place.
chris L yeah they did!...they planned all their breaks, vacations, time away from their charges, booty time,PX time, meeting times, weapons maintainance time and on and on!
God bless you SFC Muniz for putting up with this PL. Keep that 550 cord close hand, this one will wander off and get lost if you're not careful. But dont worry, like he said 50 times, Hes the baws! he writes them orders!
2nd lts need to humble to put up with shitsacks like you and learn from the ncos around them and their beginning experiences, how else do they become truly competent commanders!
I think this is valuable training for new and veteran soldiers - say if a new soldier learned "how the unit works" or "how to be a successful soldier (sailor, airman, marine) as a block of instruction, would help develop future leaders and make those already in leadership jobs easier. Take recipes for success from the stronger soldiers in fitness, nutrition, time management, etc . Evaluate the weak, learn how to apply said recipe to each individual soldier, etc etc. Make them feel like they are part of a team, and has a support system. Because, based on my experience there is no clear path to success, if left on your own. Many fall by the wayside, fighting uphill battles on their own..
You'd never see a British officer doing these videos.. The guys would think less of him. I'm surprised you don't get a lot of shit for the videos off your guys
im sure the platoon and PSG talk shit bout him. we all did it to our new incoming PL who thought he could just start running the platoon like nothing haha. we were all Combat vets and he was fresh outta west point haha. hed tell us one thing and our PSG would be like, "were gonna do this, sir" hahaha
you will never see an U.S. Marine Officer neither lolz but is cool to see the officer POV even if is Army which is WAAYYY different. (enlisted E-4 in the USMC)
its good seeing the difference in command style an the fitness in the British army its always tabbing with over 35 lb plus and shit loads of combat fitness ie all hard cardioid
Trust me... us NCOs do think very much the less of him. And, while I'm not there to reign his dumb ass in, I can assure you his soldiers both:think he is a profiteering ass- clown, and have no faith in his ability to lead them in a combat situation.
Could you make a video all about ranger school/being a ranger and how you were able to go to ranger school and process of it all? My fiancé is active duty MP and he's getting deployed to Germany next week and wants to do ranger school when he comes back and then try to become a warrant officer. His old PL was really pushing him to do ranger and was willing to help him out but he got switched to a different team and the chances of getting in now are a lot different since his new PL is a total shitbag and completely useless as a leader. Is there a way he can get in without his sgt's help?
I have a video on my channel just about ranger school. It's the one with a ranger tab as a thumbnail. Have him get with the BN schools NCO to complete a Ranger School packet, get a pre ranger date and ranger date. If he really wants to go he can move past his PL in the chain of command to get a school date.
+Nick Bare Okay thank you I'll look for it!! He's very determined and ambitious, he graduated AIT with a PT score of 356 if that says anything about him being an overachiever lol. Love your videos man keep it up!
+Kray Kray At AIT graduation he received an honorary award for scoring 356. He doesn't mention it to anyone though, bragging about your achievements is about the douchiest thing you can do. The only people who know about it are the ones I tell cause I'm a proud fiancé 😂 he's currently deployed so when he comes back he's going to send in his ranger packet.
Usually in ranger school they will weed out high achievers - just saying it falls under anti -selection. If he wanna survive ranger school be more of a team player and supporting your buddies. In their eyes that is golden leader. They dun want single heroes because war are not won alone.
Hey nick! I found out about you not too long ago but today I was scrolling looking for the Infantryman’s Creed and I cross upon this video. I noticed that is a 7 years old video! Seeing this inspires me a lot to keep following my dreams! And do what it needs to be done! Thank you for what you do!!!
Zane W it’s the fact he is a LT and he comes off in a cocky attitude and likes saying how much HE commands the platoon and having the NCOs execute his orders.
Keep up the good work LT.....remember that your PSG and 1st SGT are watching you every day....there are two reps that follow every new PL....and you know which one is the most important...
+Nick Bare either way hope you keep putting out content as we can expect great things from you, have you thought about cross fit? sorry for all the questions new sub
I've never had the opportunity to go on a combat deployment and I've been on active duty for over 3 years now. I'm personally not a crossfit fan but do enjoy some functional fitness training from time to time.
+kurt mccarthy I miss the suck odd as that sounds. Something about knowing that your day can't get Fd over any more than this. I miss the long road march. I don't miss blisters the size of a baseball.😉 11c

@@lifevlog6216 Where I come from it doesn't matter how high you climb the work ethic is always the same. Earn an honest days wage.
Dear Nick,
as a medical student who has many ROTC personnel who I study with, I often wonder if the jacked and strong public image (as you display) of the military is typical of the average service person, or merely a dedicated and vocal percentage. FYI, you're awesome and an inspiration
Theres more fit people in the military than there are in the civilian sector but id say 20-30% of the people on any base are the “buff military image”. Wish it was closer to 90% but alot of peoples jobs dont require them to be in shape
It's awesome to see things most of us don't get to see ;)
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Amy!
You're still young-put in that 4187 for selection bro, trust me you won't regret it
@Nick your a 2nd LT ?
They should do a "Day in the life of a private in the infantry while hazing was still going on."
Fucvkkkk yeahhh.
I'd love to see "A Weekend in the life of and Active Duty Private"!
“Was”??
@@_uchihia_yeager_6594 Not that it's not there, it's just they're not tough on new people anymore.

Great video! I'm awaiting selection to attend OCS with the Marines and to see (even if it's Army) a perspective about day to day activities as a platoon leader is very interesting. I especially liked the interview with your platoon sergeant. Kill!
Thanks man. Best of luck to you.
What are you trying to get selected for, juniors? I'm an officer candidate.
+Cameron Miles cool story
+Cameron Miles 10 weeks OCC. I'm on the board this week for January
+TheStoutKid I think I know two candidates going then!
hey man you really motivated me to get off my ass and join. I'm going in to be 11B and have the rank of an E2 from my 4 year investment in J.R.O.T.C. Thanks for being such an influence on my life man. thank you and stay awesome.
MAYO Kelly how’s the journey going
Luigi?
How'd it go?

Odd thing I noticed, the Army is still using the same ink pens. haha
Lol
I noticed the same thing lol.
Skill craft!
those pens and cockroaches, will be the only things left in the end.
Ink pens? Can't you just say pens?
Great way to mix up the videos. keeping the content fresh. great video.
Thanks!
MY father was stationed at camp casey there's an awesome pizza place called hallelujah pizza it's amazing you should definitely visit it. I can give you there info if you want to
i was wondering why your room was so nice and then i remembered youre an officer lmfao.
This is nice! I am also an infantry platoon leader in Korea. its surprising that you are now in Korea. Thanks for your service and deployment in this country!
Best of luck Nick from a Marine acting platoon commander (RVN) 1967-68.
Thank you! As a future Infantry Officer this video is really helpful. I'm off to IBOLC this OCT!
When I was in the Army I spent most of my time powerlifting and online college. The most I've pulled in the gym was a 500 benchpress, 700 deadlift, 700 squat and still passed my PT test.
How was the online college classes?
Congratulations, you’re very special.
I like this type of vid sir! Pretty cool for your Plt Sgt to be in the vid also
I love your videos! I had no idea you watched Nick as well!
Definitely man I do! The Army is a big family/brother hood so I support every single one of 'em
Yeah I thought it would be a good touch! Thanks man.
+Nick Bare love it sir
So amazing watching this for first time while I'm following Nick for a year now and I can see how much he have been improved at every field In his life.
Thank you for your service, LT. America!
Life of a platoon leader: Kiss ranking officer's asses and once or twice a week, make a point to ask your NCOs if everything is on track.
Then leave them to beast the fuck out of each other in the lines whilst you go home to your hot wife you met in college with your own house
He is the most dangerous thing on the battlefield, an LT.
Warfighter Fitness His never been in combat. Only combat his seen is in the gym.
tatum ergo I’m pretty sure O-1s have charge of a platoon my guy.
I'm so glad I found this channel. Thanks so much!
I like this guy. My father is retired Army. Much respect. Glad he's sharing these experiences.
Right on hard on ! All Americans are proud of you ! And be sure to mind your pace.
that e7 looks like he wants to smack you
he does want to smack him but he needs to act professional on camera. all of this is rehearsed. if i pull out a phone or camera to record anything and i am not the PAO then i get people screaming at me.
Indeed.
+Alessandro Pangia not sure why he is saying he plans the pt sessions though. the junior enlisted should be doing the planning and performing all the instruction and in charge of the PRT.
sandersriprap I have not been on deployement in Korea, so I cannot tell unfortunately.

The best line a infantry platoon leader says to his men. "In my experience." Hahahaha.

Good Evening, sir
I am a high school student living in Seoul.
I guess you would be re-assigned into somewhere else, since you said that it is fifth month in nine month deployment to South Korea in your video.
But still, I really want to thank you for your service from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for your effort to make my country a more safer place to live.
He's no longer in the Army and as you can see other videos on his channel, he's a multi millionaire business owner based off in Texas.

I'll try and get one up.
Yeah, I'm planning on going to ROTC in college and I'm really interested in what he has to say.
Hey if you don't mind me asking what ecatly is ROTC and what does it stand for?

Damn this looks nothing like my boys infantry experience in Afghanistan lmfao, not to be discourteous.
There's two worlds in the Army - garrison and non-garrison. Your "boy" lives the same life when he's not deployed.
Salute to your Boys
these guys dont see combat....like ever. Not in Korea anyway
that's forward deployed, man.
what's your boy's look like?
As soon as I found out you were an officer everything clicked so quick lol
Thank you for your service🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm just here too see what LTs be doing cus mines be MIA until final formation
YOU ARE THE AMERICAN DREAM!!! CONGRATS (watching this video 5 years after first posted)
A PL plans PT?!?! That's NCO business.
Good shit though. Like the vid.
chris L h
chris L yeah they did!...they planned all their breaks, vacations, time away from their charges, booty time,PX time, meeting times, weapons maintainance time and on and on!
Atleast at my unit my pl almost always plans pt.
djbenzo its NCO business in the Marine Corps. The army needs an officer to do anything apparently.
Lmao, he's such an officer. That is all.
God bless you SFC Muniz for putting up with this PL. Keep that 550 cord close hand, this one will wander off and get lost if you're not careful. But dont worry, like he said 50 times, Hes the baws! he writes them orders!
haha
LMFAO Crushed him like a sandcastle.
2nd lts need to humble to put up with shitsacks like you and learn from the ncos around them and their beginning experiences, how else do they become truly competent commanders!
He launched so many insults his way and the LT didn't catch one.
I remember in AIT hiding in my wall locker to avoid PT because of a bad hangover. God bless that wall locker.
Man I just got out. Got my DD214. Feels too good.
liar
How can I prove it to you :(
Come on man, you don't have to prove yourself to a random entity on the internet.
Yea anyone with the username duuuuuuuuuuuh doesnt need to have anything proven to him.
haha me 2 man. It feels good to be a civilian again, but i do miss the commissary, tricare, and gyms.
+Neil Bradley but thanks for insight sir
Trust me... us NCOs do think very much the less of him. And, while I'm not there to reign his dumb ass in, I can assure you his soldiers both:think he is a profiteering ass- clown, and have no faith in his ability to lead them in a combat situation.
Oh shit..i thought you were Matt Ward lmao..anywho, good vid

Im in a middle school program and right now I'm a First Lieutenant and a company commander :) will be a Captain soon.
Thanks for serving - a lot of respect! Also great video!! 👍🏻
So is an infantry platoon leader in the Army equivalent to an infantry platoon commander in the Marines?
Killa-King Kong yes, it is.
PT scale only goes up to 300. Pro tip for him if he makes ranger pre selection don't throw out numbers above a 300 its not cool.
Ok, lunch is super 'bro-tastic'.. I love it! (hahaahahahaha)
And your Sgt looked a bit nervous
