How to connect Rode Videomicro mic to an iPhone

Short guidance how to connect your Rode Videomicro to an Iphone. The key is to use Apple lightining to headphone 3.5mm jack adaptor and TRRS to TRS cable (CS 7). I was trying to use "aple certified" third party adapter and it wasn't working with the mic. So my advice is use the apple one.

IF ANOTHER SEES THIS: Please if you know how I can extend my TRS to TRRS cable in order to put this mic on a boom poll and still be able to plug it into my phone, please let me know. I have the short TRS to TRRS cable from rode, but I need around 10 feet of chord for this boom.

I’m trying to use this and I think I have the same external cords as you but I tried on an iPhone 13 max and it doesn’t pick up the sound and also a 12 that just muted the sound completely. There’s no setting to make it work, right?

I have the same issue. In my last attempt to make this work, I will purchase a genuine Apple connector since the one I have is a generic one from Amazon. Hope it helps!

Sadly I am having the same issue where my cable doesn’t pick up the microphone for some reason. Works via headphones but not as TRRS despite following the advice here. Very frustrating this. 😢

Has to be genuine Apple cable, but now after few years and updates and new phones god knows what is the issue, I went DJI mic recently and it works flawlessly
