Good grief Rachael are you staying up all night. You are so prolific at the moment. Always enjoy your work. You are so net and tidy as well as talented. Thank you.
I am always enchanted by the results of shrinking down an image with shrink plastic. You have created such lovely embellishments. I ALWAYS learn from you. When I was in grade 7 a boy gave me a sweet pendant he had made from shrink plastic. How completely adorable. I always remember that when I think about shrink plastic. :-) This inspires me to get out the shrink plastic and play!!
I certainly did in joy that! I haven’t experimented with shrink plastic in years. I think I still have some in my stash from when my kids were young. I will have pull it out and see what I can come up with! I love seeing you apply and shade your colors. I have not had any art classes even when I was young, so I am eager to learn. I love how you called heating the plastic “the fun” part. To me it is always the scary part. I worry I won’t do it right. TFS
Shrink plastic is super fun to play with, and there are so many cool things you can make from it. I don't use it that often, but when I do, I always enjoy the process - even the "scary" bit, lol
Black is also very fun. I made some jewellery pieces out of black a few years ago. I used Brilliance metallic inks on them, and they worked wonderfully well on the black. Have fun with it :-)
LOVE the shapes of these pieces! I also love the colored pencils much better. Thank you for reminding me of a great and super fun substrate to use! Thanks for sharing, and I'm so glad you are back creating again! Happy creating!
Wow thanks so much for sharing! I haven’t played with shrink plastic in such a long time! You’ve inspired me to go play again! I liked both the pan pastels and the color pencils!
I think a lot of us have supplies we have bought and never used, lol. I've had my shrink plastic for years, and not used it very often, so it was about time :-)
Loved this project. I did not realize you could use your heat tool to shrink the material. Thought you had to bake it. Yipee!! You must have the patience of a saint. You seem so committed to detail, whether fussy cutting, drawing or painting. I try and watch everything you do. I even enjoyed it when you redid your studio.
Oh I just adore these, they are utterly gorgeous!! Such a brilliant and wonderful, sweet embellishment, each and every one of them! Thank you so much for showing me that there is nothing to be afraid of!!
Wow, those came out beautifully and the new stamps are lovely! I never heard of the shrink plastic so this will be on my "want" list. Rachel, thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous work and precious time!
Such a cute project ... I hope you are enjoying yourself as much as all of us are enjoying watching you!!! Plus some oldies but goodies keep appearing with the new videos!!! Ah!!! Your nails are pretty as always!!! Loved today’s video and thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
How fun! I don't have pan pastels so I'm quite happy to know that they are not the best medium to use. I will have to look for the shrink plastic in the US. Thanks for sharing this technique. I don't mean to sound weird, but you have lovely hands. Your skin is perfect and your nails are beautiful. You must care for them well. Just a compliment. Please take in the spirit in which it is intended.
Thanks very much. I always think my hands look really old and wrinkly lol I do enjoy doing my nails however - I'm a bit of a nail polish junkie, hehehe
Thanks for sharing your shrink art! They are beautiful! Looks so easy and your instructions were clear and complete. Your ideas are really great! I am going to check in my area for supplies and give it a try!! Thank you!
I was trying to figure out a good way to make small tags, and this method would be perfect! I love your videos, and this one is especially useful. Thank you!
What a great idea to cut these in interesting shapes, I assume by a diecut machine. I’ve been disappointed when I’ve cut them with straight sides because after they are done with shrinking they aren’t always straight. This is a great way to get around that! Thanks for sharing.
The results are stunning Rachel, I love your work, I've missed your videos, I love the stamps you used, I think I'll have to grab a few of them, thanks for a great tutorial 😎
SO COOL!!! This looks like a ton of fun! I'm hoping to someday enjoy my PanPastels but so far they're just a bit too messy for me even though there's a lot less dust than traditional pastels. I will have to get some if that shrink plastic!!! Thanks again for giving us your time and creativity - it is very much appreciated! Have a great day! 😃
Thanks Sue. It is a lot of fun, especially the shrinking process. Thanks for always watching and taking time to leave comments, much appreciated . Have a great day too :-)
On Christmas my daughter & niece wanted 2 do crafts so I broke out my brand new shrinky dinks but it was only the shrink paper so I figured lets use my stamps & stamp on it & color it in. It worked great & the kids had so much fun!!
Hello from Georgia! I'm a new subscriber, and I've just come across this video. I never thought of using shrink plastic for embellishments. Great idea! tfs
So cool! Never knew there was such a thing as shrink plastic! Great use of the die cuts!! I think I'll check Michael's for this - would be a super fun project to do with my daughter 😃 I wonder if she'll panic when the heat gun makes the plastic melt/roll up?!?! I'm glad I saw how easily you got it to lay flat after the initial melt/curl; or I would have lost my mind if that had happened to me!!! LOL 🤣😂 Thx 4 the great idea!! I have some great stamps to try with this kind of project! Stay well & thx for another great tutorial, Rachel! 🇨🇦💜
Thanks! I never thought to use my pencils. Now I have to look through my stash for the shrink plastic. I have been trying to think of some way to let people know, in case of emergency, that I have a dog home alone. This would be great way to add to my key ring.
I was watching random shrink plastic video to get art ideas for my daughter. Landed on your video and stopped. The combination of your choice in music, your voice and watching your hands at work kept me enthralled. Now on to the questions. I have heard of using toaster ovens for shrink plastic but the idea of the heat gun seems better. I found a U.S. version of the Ranger but I can't find anything like the damping block you used. Is that just a glass block or is it actually something called a damping block. When I think of damping I picture the item used to tap around on pastel pictures to give it a softer look. I'm certain I am wrong on this one. Can you show me a link to one in the U.K. to give me an idea of what I am searching for? I can't wait to get started doing some of these with her. I did what was called Shrinky Dinks as a kid in the 70's and had a blast. Oh almost forgot. Have you used the pencils on clear plastic? If so did you like the results? Thanks and you have a new subscriber.
Another video...yay! :) Haven't worked with the pan pastels....just curious if they need a fixative, or does the heating/shrinking fix the color permanently? Have not played with shrink plastic in ages....may need to get some now. (Just what I need...more supplies...lol)
They don't need a fixative after shrinking. I guess the process kind of melts them into the plastic. I think the shrink plastic would benefit from some light sanding to better hold the colour however. Of course, this is not something you could do if using the clear plastic because it makes the transparent surface cloudy, but definitely an option for the translucent plastic that I am using here.
Would you know the artist on the song or the name of the song in your background. Tried to follow the link you have posted but link wasn’t available! Thanks again!
I have had shrink plastic sheets in my art cabinet for over 25 yrs! Time to use them.... The stamps you used were perfect for this project.
I've had mine for many years too Cheryl. It's such fun to play with once you get it out though :-)
Good grief Rachael are you staying up all night. You are so prolific at the moment. Always enjoy your work. You are so net and tidy as well as talented. Thank you.
lol Gillian. I have had some spare time recently, so what better way to use it :-)
Is it weird that I find it super satisfying to watch these shrink?
No, lol, I enjoy watching it too :-)
Had not thought to use shrink film in this way. Very pretty! Now can think of so many ways to use them. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
You're welcome :-)
I have never done anything with shrink plastic but this video has intrigued me so I may give this a try. Thanks for showing us this.
You're welcome Chris. I hope you give it a try, it's great fun :-)

Thanks for sharing your tips on making embellishments with shrink plastic. Love all your embellishments.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it Laura :-)
These are beautiful and look like fun! I have a pack of shrink plastic, but I have never used it. Thanks for the inspiration!

These are such cool embellishments - I have some clear shrink plastic so must play! Thank you for the inspiration. xxx
You're welcome Christine. I think a lot of us have a packet of shrink plastic gathering dust, lol
Those look great. It's been a while since I worked with shrink plastic
It's a while since I played with it too, but it's good to get out some older stash and play :-)
Oh I just adore these, they are utterly gorgeous!! Such a brilliant and wonderful, sweet embellishment, each and every one of them! Thank you so much for showing me that there is nothing to be afraid of!!
You're very welcome Rachel. Glad you enjoyed the process :-)

You're very welcome Alice, and I appreciate the time you take to comment on every one. I'm definitely having fun :-)
Those are cute elements, and while it was fun to watch you color them, it was really fun to watch them shrink 😁 now, to find my shrink plastic.....
Glad you enjoyed it. The shrinking is definitely the best part :-)

Awesome! I have shrink plastic somewhere in my stash just never used it. Must dig up now and try it. Thanks for the inspiration.

I am new to shrink plastic and like it a lot.
It's a very fun material to play with :-)
Hello from Georgia! I'm a new subscriber, and I've just come across this video. I never thought of using shrink plastic for embellishments. Great idea! tfs
Love this technique! I think my favorite is the pan pastels. They were no longer pastel after they were reduced in size.👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
Wow these are reslly beautiful! I hope i get time to try them!tfs💕
Thanks very much :-)
So cool! Never knew there was such a thing as shrink plastic! Great use of the die cuts!! I think I'll check Michael's for this - would be a super fun project to do with my daughter 😃

Stay well & thx for another great tutorial, Rachel! 🇨🇦💜
You're welcome Kelly - You can also bake shrink plastic in the oven if you want to avoid the scary heat gun moments, lol
Love them, would love to try this.
Thanks, glad you liked them. Hope you give it a try :-)
So cute and pretty!! Thanks for sharing Rach! :)
Thanks very much :-)
Very very very beautiful! 😍
Thank you very much Regan :-)
Thanks! I never thought to use my pencils. Now I have to look through my stash for the shrink plastic. I have been trying to think of some way to let people know, in case of emergency, that I have a dog home alone. This would be great way to add to my key ring.
That is an awesome idea. I have an elderly cat, and could do to have the same kind thing on my keys :-)
BEEEEEA-UUUUUUU-TEA-FULLLLLLL!!
you can do a ring with the shrink as well if you have a metal ring sizer i saw someone putting dried flowers in it, might be just your thing to try
ps glad to see you back most of your stuff is acryllics wich is nt my department but it is awfully fun to watch you play with it
That's an interesting idea. I've never seen it used in that way before. TFS
Do you seal the colored images with anything? Do you have any trouble with the colored pencils rubbing off?
Great idea!
Que bello trabajo.. Lastima q no esta traducido.. Y donde puede uno encontrar estos materiales
Gracias!!
Thank you for this idee. i havent tested shrnking plastic and dont think you can get it in sweden.
You're welcome. I hope you can find this product in Sweden, or perhaps have some shipped from another country?
So fun! Going to try to get some!
Hugs Marsha
Thanks Marsha, it is a lot of fun :-)
Thank you so much for sharing hugs Shelley 💕
You're welcome Shelley :-)
Very pretty!
Thank you :-)
Very COOL! TFS!
Cool where can I get that plastic looks fun
I think most good craft shops shop sell it, and you can probably find it on line too :-)
Love these!! Oh I'll have to try this for needleminders!! Thank you!
Hey Christine. I didn't expect to see you on this channel, lol. I had exactly the same thought when I started making these ;-)
RachO113 I think I started following you on this channel before you started making Flosstube videos :) I love all kinds of crafts! :)
That's cool - We would so get on well in real life :-) It's great to see you here!
RachO113 Yes! Yes we would :)

So cute embellishments
Thanks very much Tiina :-)
Hello. I’m sorry can I use a normal hairdryer?
Would you know the artist on the song or the name of the song in your background. Tried to follow the link you have posted but link wasn’t available! Thanks again!
All the music I use comes with my software programme. Unfortunately, there are no artists shown and it is not downloadable elsewhere.
Would FaberCastel pencils work?
Rachel! Do you still livestream?
I haven't streamed for a long time, perhaps I will again in the future some time :-)
Haha, I like that.
Thank you :-)
Did you cut the shrink plastic in the shapes or did it come that way when you purchased it?
At the beginning of the video (0:15) she mentions that she cut the shapes with Spellbinders dies.
