I showed this to my vet and she removed my piggies cyst this way. Thank you so much for this video. The cost of the cyst removal went from $350 down to $70 because they didn't need to put him under. And because he was awake the whole, I wasn't risking his life for a benign cyst removal. Your videos are great
I do not understand why they try to say they need to be asleep? They do not have humans be put under, why would it be different for a gp?
@@gthegrimreaper4940 You can explain the procedure to a human, including how they may feel pain temporally. You can't explain this to a guinea pig, and they may feel stressed and anxious. But if you give sufficient pain-medication and you handle the cyst correctly, the guinea pig won't get stressed as shown in this video. I am very happy your guinea pig is fine after the procedure, myapinion5022!
@@gthegrimreaper4940 I 1000% agree with you - this is much much safer and a hackofalot cheaper. Antibiotics are in most cases not needed either.
He's such a handsome boy and so well behaved. No complaining no trying to escape. Just sat and ate his parsley
I wish I was geographicaly near you guys, I would love to help on daily basis! I love guinea pigs and always wanted to open a shelter/clinic for piggies but working with you guys looks like a greater joy
I hear you. I'm from Canada and I really wish I could volunteer here. Honestly I would love to volunteer anywhere but there are no rescues near me. Makes me sad :(
You don't have to hide the cutting everything about this video is awesome. Never owned a guinea pig and the several videos on your site tells me it's so much more than I ever imagined.
UA-cam has got a lot more strict about removing/censoring videos they find sensitive. I bet she had to sensor so they wouldn't remove her content.
You know I will always support you, by donation directly through your website. I won't do it through youtube because of them censoring what I can and can't say in the timestamps and de-monetizing your videos or making you censor your videos. You have such awesome extremely helpful educational life saving videos. You've given excellent advice on what types of things we should ask our vets we take our guinea pigs to. I want you to get all of what I send you, and not a giant greedy corporation who forces you to have to censor things you to educate us about💯🐹🐹🌻
Love how he is chomping away and not a care in the world, no stress, no pain and no anaesthetic risks and he had a huge cyst. Great work ❤
The guinea pig picture covering the parts not to be shown is hilarious
So cute
Glad that the vet took care of that. Now he can heal.
TY Lady Saskia for helping our little friend.
I'm sure it felt sore for the first week, but he felt so much better afterwards. Thank you for taking such good care of these guineapigs.
So interesting to watch. Thank you so much for providing an local anesthetic alternative to piggies.
Your videos are so educational, heart-warming, heart-breaking. A roller-coaster of emotions haha. Thank you so much for all that you do! Scotty is how I found your channel. All the piggies are very lucky that they are with you in the end.
Thanks for these videos it's great to know they don't always need to be put under anesthesia 🥰
🐹📢 WHEEK WHEEK I'm just leaving a Wheek here to helps your videos and I watch the ads too regardless of what they are about, because I know dis helps you too. I'm just a little piggy so I can only send my wheeks, leave a like, and watch an ad. My hoomin will always send you what she can. Oh and Thanks you for the suggestion that my Hoomin owes me some extra parsley and tomatoes. She gave them too me just like you told me to ask her. It was much appreciated ~ Nacho
What a wonderful job Dr. Nenn and Michelle did!
What you're doing is really good. Those guinea pigs are in great hands with you. Keep up the hard work
A good video for showing gp owners what a vet has to deal with when removing a cebacious cyst. I don't think this will change how vets work, though. I failed miserably when I tried to convince my vet to use a local anaesthetic .
Keep going till you find a vet who will! And this video, because it performed by a peer may change the vets mind! Good luck
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue When a vet don't want to listen to our suggestions on things like this than I guess we need to find a different vet that actually will listen to us. I wonder how many run into this problem because an arrogant vet doesn't want to listen to any suggestions because they have the God complex. You got everything you need over there in Los Angeles. How can we get vets to listen to us?
German vets will most likely only change their minds when properly performed and documented studies are published. 😕
@@Shishiochan You know unfortunately I started thinking about this and how I over assumed how many guinea pig owners there are. The reason I say this is because if there were . More exotic vets would want to get interested. Seriously How do you get an exotic vet to listen to you? I was lucky to find one that would even see my guinea pigs and it wasn't cheap. I really hope some how Saskia and Dr.Nenn, working doing a surgery on video there and if Dr Nenn would explain to the camera to the audience how she does some surgeries maybe than a vet might listen. I am beginning to feel discouraged by this but I'll never completely give up hope that things can change one day. I still support Saskia. But it is frustrating that a vet charge so much and don't listen to you. A lot of Dr.s are that way too, Not all but it's the God Complex, they have. I wish there were more Dr,Nenn's. sorry for length.😕
@@ITIsFunnyDamnIT In Germany, guinea pigs are common as pets for small children. You would be surprised how many people over here tell you that they had one or two guinea pigs as kids or for their kids. That said, it is hard to dispell old customs about how to care for them. Even shelter volunteers fall into that trap. Now imagine a vet, who studied at university or wherever to treat animals and here we also have a specialization on small animals like bunnies, rodents, hamsters. Do you think such a person with all these qualifications and years of experience will change his/her methods because of some wonkily filmed video on the internet, that a customer presents to him/her? This will be one for the long haul and I hope that Dr. Nenn will publish a paper on it.
No need to censor! Another great video, thank you to that wonderful vet!
Saskia has to censor the video in order for UA-cam to approve monetisation. We show everything? UA-cam removes the chance for the rescue to receive money from people watching the ads during the video. Mod Karalee
Saskia, you do wonderful work with these precious guinea pigs, and I thank God for a wonderful person like you and your crew taking care of these babies!
Thanks again for sharing Saskia and thank you Dr. Nan and assistant great job ✨❤️
Thank you!
My eldest boar Lucky has one of these. It remained as a lump for a couple months. The vet, who is a specialist, said if it remains as is, dont worry. But then it popped open. I squeezed our this stuff and he actually didnt seem to mind. Then I waited over a period of about two weeks for it to heal, putting neosporin over it daily. It didnt heal seemed ro rise again a little, and yesterday I was dismayed to find I was able to squeeze out more of it. Thanks to your demo I see now he has to go have this treated fully.
His is in the EXACT same spot as this one. Just to the right of his grease spot.
That was the best cyst removal vid on piggy I've ever seen
I love that he is chewing the whole time like a cilantro IV! Piggies are so easy to please! I love these videos because the exotic vets don't always know piggies very well.
He was so chill while getting that cyst removed sometimes anasthetic is all that's needed for a procedure like this
Such an awesome, educational video! (Personally, I loved the censorship piggy!😂🥰) 💜 You two are an amazing team!
Thank you 🤗
such a good boy. 👏
I like those Videos, Please more of this! Good work!
Loving kudos to you all!!!♥️
I love this intro with a the piggies squeaking! my Elsa just turns and looks at me every time I play a video 🤣
That was huge for even a human. So glad owner was responsible! Sure we’d do it for our dogs or cats or “regular” pets but most people wouldn’t take the time for such cheaply priced pet. Bravo!
Our Holistic Vet lanced an under the neck for us, and i continued warm comps and syringing the area until everything was out and it healed up after that on its own. Our Reese's still has a hanging neck area through.
you help me a lot with my guinea pigs too!!!!
I am very happy about that!
Thank you! I'll make sure to ask for local anesthetic if my girls need a minor surgery.
I must say I truly appreciate you guys covering it up while you cut it open. I like watching the expression of the cysts and stuff like that. I don't know if I'm saying that right? But the cysts being popped out but I don't like the cutting part. It just makes me makes my stomach come up into my chest as if I feel the pain.
Why do they get it so often? Or why is it so common amongst guinea pigs
I'm happy this works! and really wish other vets would do the same
Looks great. Great job.
Wow so much stuff in there crazy!
I want Guinea Pigs so badly, I wish I could come help, I would if I lived closer, any thoughts on trying to find rescue operations near me? Central Texas is just a little far from LA. Thank you for all y’all do! Blessings and Peace ❤️✝️
GOOD JOB 😊😊😊
I came here to thank Saskia for two things: First, my girls love their new corner hideout. Even my 2.5 pounder can lie inside comfortable. Second, I switched pellets to a non-soy based one, and my girls hardly get upset anymore when they're in heat. Thank you!
SO good to hear!!!!! And very interesting about that soy as well
Amazing! I will show this video clip to my veterinarian. It’s such valuable information. Thanks again for uploading it.
I didn't realize until the end of the video that Ernie was on Dr. Nenn's knees all that time.
He was such good boy 😊
Handsome boy❤️
It’s like watching Dr. Pimple Popper but on a guinea pig. She does pretty much the same thing. 😎
Wow neat work and much better for the guinea Not to have General Anesthesia ❣
I usually love these videos. But why are the most interesting scenes covered with another picture? Dr. Lee shows in her videos also the hole procedure. So why can't you do it? Thanks for educating us.
Because Dr. Lee's videos are not monetised. The LAGPR is a non profit organisation that relies on donations. By showing that sort of stuff in detail? Saskia loses the opportunity to receive money from all the people watching the ads during the video. Mod Karalee
@@karaleetrapp thank you for the explanation.
Absolutely fascinating, great work!
I got a little stomach ache when the tiny scooper came out with what looked like spoonful of cottage cheese. Other than that, I enjoyed seeing how a cyst can be removed without anesthesia!
Thank-you for sharing this. It’s helpful information for all animal lovers.
Isn't there a sac? Like what Dr. Pimple Popper would take out.
I guess it's stuck with the healthy tissue, and it's what they remove bit by bit with the scalpel.
how long does it take the numbing to wear off? and how much pain will he have when it wears off?
I am not how long till it wears off but he will be in no pain as we give them some meds for the first day.
Our poor Fluffers has a cyst.. the vet popped it but it came back after like 6 months. She has to go back sometime.. I think they told my husband they can't remove it permanently unless she's put under. My husband absolutely does not want her to be put under.
Here is your answer. It CAN be removed with locally with lidocaine injection. They will munch through yummy snacks during the procedure Please show your vet an insist on it.
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue thank you! We will try, thankfully we have another vet near us if the one currently doesent listen.
Great team….
That piggie was very well-behaved though the procedure. Did you use CDB?
Yes we use it for just about anything
hi luv yur vids early subbed
Awww...u covered up the best parts!!
Like watching a Veterinary Dr. Pimple Popper, same technique used on humans. :)
Muito querida essa veterinária tudo de bom pra vc
i know this is an older video, but i was wondering about putting antibiotic bead in there or does that need to be when they are left open to heal? but thank you to dr, nenn and bernie!!!
Absolutely like Dr. Pimple Popper on Guinea Pigs 😂😂😂👍 such a brave boy, still eating....❤😮
Maybe save that stuff to spread on a bagel...
I’ve expressed small cysts after the vet did it first and showed me how. But this one made me almost faint! How embarrassing
Remember when Saskia did all the cyst removal herself, wonder why she stopped.
The only thing I would and could do was squeeze to remove the sebum. But as you can see to really get it all out it needs to be done by an veterinarian. This requires skill and training,
Probably thinks he's getting pampered, all that food just for himself, no other piggies trying to steal it, a perfect day.
Amazing job ☺️👏🏼
Here comes the Popping Community 🤣
poor baby🥺🥺🥺
I've learned so much from u.
I appreciate everything u do for those precious guinea pigs. Wow that thing was big! I have one guinea pig her name is Bella❤😅she's 4 never ever been sick! Raised on all organic. I wouldn't mind a link from ur fb page? Do u mind sending? Bella has an apointment with the vet on Thursday. I don't believe Tylenol is helping for pain.. That's the earliest I could get her inn... I need help please just trying to save my ❤before its too late😢 I couldn't handle losing my guinea pig she's my support animal.. I love her dearly ❤We've never been apart..
Perfeito ✌️
Is it possible to have a version without the censorship piggy?
Yes i was thinking of putting another version out
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue thank you Saskia! I'm a healthcare professional and I find these sort of videos fascinating. I'd love to be able to show this to a vet and have an honest conversation about the risks and benefits of local vs general anaesthetic.
Thank you for sharing this! Really great to learn and watch!
it's interesting to see how much stuff coming out of the cyst and that he will be better well thanks to l a g r it's good to know what to do
What if it's on their cheek/neck area? I don't suppose this is possible for facial ones?
Why do you keep hiding when you cut
UA-cam may block the video if considered too graphic.
@@claudieC. thank you for replying and explaining.
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue I have seen plenty of cysts on UA-cam
@@nikkihowe5837. Yes but youtube has this thing about removing the monetisation from Saskia's videos, especially when they show things some people consider disgusting. Mod Karalee
Why do you cover the actual procedure? I know it's allowed on UA-cam because who doesn't watch Dr. pimple popper!
Hi Saskia. I was wondering how much a procedure like that would cost at your pet rescue? I would like to take my guinea pig.
I believe about $160 or so
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue thank you 😊
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue I have one more question. Is the estimate of $160 cover the procedure for only one of the lumps or is it approximately $160 per lump. Because my guinea pig has 3 of the cysts features in the video. Please let me know 😊
I recently lost one of my pigs today
🐹📢 WHEEK WHEEK My Deepest Condolences. You gave him a home and a life he may not of otherwise had. I'm very sorry for your loss. 🐹🌈🥀💐🕊
I have had 3 guinea pigs. They all had these. It must be my luck but I just can’t afford to fix it for them. The vets aren’t willing to do it without anesthesia and it costs over 1000 dollars per pig to get rid of. Luckily they aren’t as big but it’s heartbreaking knowing I can’t fix it.
Why show video if your gonna block out the cutting part
Because youtube will demonetize it if she doesn't censor her work. I hate how bad youtube has gotten about censorship.
Gotta say, that looked pretty horrifying
him eating through this entire procedure has me weak
Well if you’re just emptying the sac and not removing it, it will return. Every dermatologist that removes sebaceous cysts also removes the sac.
Are cysts normal in guinea pigs?
Why hide the site every time you use the blade? We watch tons of blade use in pimple, cyst and lump removal all over youtube that are not hidden at all. Same with the stitches.
У морских свинок часто бывает системный лимфаденит . Много раз вычищала сама , но он возвращается . 😔
Why hide the best details? I wanted to see ALL of it.
UA-cam will demonetize her if she does.
Because youtube removes the monetisation from our videos, if we show stuff that people find offensive. Mod Karalee
We're can I get the numbing supplies for guinea pig cyst
This procedure must be done by a licensed veterinary professional.
What would happen if you just left it alone?
IT may burst on its own and then you get a an icky stinky area that keeps producing sebum and bothers the animal. I usually advise to watch it closely and if the cyst shows signs that it wants to grow big or has burst by itself to consider removal.
Is this a vet?
Do you really have to block our view of this minor procedure?
My guinea pig has a cyst the same size and in the same spot. But I can't find a vet in New York City, it's all dogs and cats, and they won't look at piggies.
That is so disgusting and satisfying hahahaha. Great job
Hey Saskia you said you weren't doing anything. Technically you are you recording the video.
Is he numbed?
Lidocaine yes
It’s called the sack you have to separate from skin. That’s sack wall in there. 😮😮😮😮😮😮
I had a vet remove a cyst from my piggie but it came back 🙄
I've been removing the one on my guinea pig but it's grown larger. It keeps coming back 😔
Sounds like the sac wall needs removed
The sac needs to be removed to prevent the cyst from growing back. Just popping a cyst will grow back
