Ride along with Engine 54
If youre wondering, he was asking me if I had a card. (His son is doing graphic design) Didnt have one on me, so I made one and gave it to em before they got back. When they get back I handed it to him through the window and the other guys were making fun of his parking and said he needed to use that as a score card lol

DO NOT ASK for ride alongs in the FDNY because of this video. I was an exception as I was a good friend of the chief whose name is disclosed. As well as being the creator of the Manhattan Modification doing research. The guys at the firehouse seem to be big fans : )

Nice video man! FDNY is the dream of many firefighters arround the world, keep it and be proud of being there.
In Germany we have to be out in 60 seconds but we're usually out faster. We also have to arrive onscene with one truck within 8 minutes.
what if they live 9 minutes away? how do you do that? teleport?

Yea me too lol. In my town we wail on the real q2 and electronic the whole way..... NYC is not the place you wanna have a heart attack.

Do you have any regulations on how quick yu have to be on your wa from the time the call got in? Here in Sweden they have to be out in less than 90 seconds, they´re usually out around the 40-50s.
there arent regulations here in cleveland ohio, but if it takes longer than 90 seconds you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork as to why there was a delay, it usually only takes about 50 here to

does the driver do everything (siren, horn, speaking ect) or does someone else do this?
Officer has pedals for siren, siren brake, and horn. I'm not sure but driver has one pedal on his side but I don't know what it does.

I understand US FIRE DEPARTMENTS let civilians to ride along on board fire trucks for organized safety lessons without letting the rider to assist on real events but to learn and watch fire fighting techinques and also fire prevention

ALOT of fire departments allow citizen's to come on ride along's FDNY allows it but it depends on which station you go to and if the battalion chief of lieutenant approves it. LAFD also allows it I've actually gone on a few with them when I visited the city. My department is about to start allowing ride along's as well. Chicago allows them. Nashville and ALOT of department's in the southern states also do. Florida has many that allow such as Tampa FD. What I'm saying is alot more Fire Department's allow ride along's than you think.

Around here where im at, the officer does sirens, horns, and etc. Im thinking FDNY is the same way
L. Groszewski in our trucks both can do so. Captain has the foot pedal but you use your hand instead. The captain also has an air horn button. Driver has Q pedal on floor and air horn button in his side. (This is in my department)
Cuz NFPA doesn't apply to the best of the best...
People wouldn't like that, especially if they did it during the night time.
