Love the vehicles but no one needs that much security unless in a war zone which 8 don't think NYC is. Thing is, it was UNGA week, and the president is obviously a target. The convoy consists of a ambulance, two cars that deal with signaled attacks, a car that deals with biohazard, several beasts in the event of an attack, to keep attackers guessing and many other cars. This is a normal presidential motorcade. NYPD who shows off their excessive vehicle fleet is also there so yeah.
Wait until you hear about how there is a decoy plane for Air Force 1. Same with Marine 1 (which can be several backups).
