Just bought a G87 manual. I used to own OG M2 (2016). Dealership also had a used 2019 F87 manual when I bought G87. I'm almost embarrassed to go back and ask them what the deal would look like to trade them the G87 back and change to the F87. This is spot on, if you need the G87 to do everything, it's the car. For me, it's a hobby car, the F87 is way more raw and now I know more fun to drive. The G87 feel more luxury than sports car.
The new m2 probably is the better daily especially if specced with the zf8 auto box, but I feel like the whole point of the m2 is to be fun and an experience not something that you’d go do your errands in. Good video and I agree a lot with what you said, the new m2 is alot more like the m4 than the previous gen m2.
Its bound to be its got the same gearbox now, bags more power and its even larger now. The downside for me is that they are heavier, Go through the brakes alot faster and will be alot more in maintainance costs simply because they will chew through tyres and pads, discs and bushes quicker. From what I remember it was one of the reasons why they didnt use one as a ring taxi because of the additional costs to do it were huge. The g series m3 they had was eating pads and tyres at an alarming rate and I believe the discs are very expensive to replace when compared to the previous Gens. The older one has more potentential when it comes down to being a track toy simply because of the size and weight advantage, it has from stock and the parts are cheaper. Deep pockets to have one of these new ones.
I had a 20 M2 6MT and currently a 23 M2 6MT both cars I track often. Reason why I switched to the G87 M2 is because it really is faster on the track than the F87. The G87 can carry more speed through corners but what sets them apart is the 10 step traction control on the G87.. you can really dial in how much slip you want from the car.. this equals to more consistent and faster lap times. The G87 however does feel dull compared to the F87 when you are just driving around town. The F87 feels more lively with its rear end more willing to step out. If all I wanted was a fun daily to drive up the back roads, I would have just stuck with my F87 M2 but since I often do track days the G87 M2 better suits me.
The only review I can trust with no reason for bias. Fascinating. Sat in one today again. Feels good, looks good. But not anywhere close to being worth 3 times as much as an F87 imo 👍
I outgrew the f87, I test drove a rs3, rs3 gives you a vibe that its a cruiser with power you forgot about its there, where the G87 makes you want to go faster, so I ordered the g87 LCI in 6 speed manual. I used to be one of the biased people but I am not sure how you can sit in both cars and not come out with the G87 is a better car, well it should be, because it is replacing it. But I do agree on it, F87 does feel a bit more raw, but then again would you expect old tech in a 2025 car probably not. When the G87 arrives it will be my 1 car garage.

I’m not saying the new M cars aren’t good, they are definitely more capable of course, but they certainly aren’t as emotional and characterful. You mentioned your F87 m2 was a dct. Those came into 3600lbs+ configurations. The 200 extra pounds/100kg extra really shouldn't distract from the fact that there's over 100 more whp on the g87 alongside better tech to make everything about it better. @@chrisginocThat is how it used to be. But we are living in a time where new cars are not better but worse than their predecessors, mostly because of EU regulations. Its not the OEMs fault but the governments.. OPF, Design regulations, emission regulations, safety regulations, ice prohibition etc. Granted, a lot of the rules are important to be safer on the roads but still, cars are getting worse by the day due to the limiting factors every oem has to face. Thats why the m2 comp will be the last engaging one.

Telling it as it is. Respect everything you’ve said. There is no ‘winner’, it depends what you’re after. But for me, the F87 is more of an ‘M2’ and for that reason I prefer it.
you don't know what you say. I've seen thousands of videos about the m2 g87, you managed to be the first to say it doesn't look as fast as the f87. I will literally unfollow you. I like to watch videos of those who understand. It's more I currently have the m2 f87 2018 comp, and I also have the m2 g87, both automatic. the g87 is far superior. there is a big difference. 😂😂😂
Far superior? I think it mainly comes down to S58>S55, weight differences and width. The F87 Comp will go down as a classic. The G87 is a beast although heavier, all you need to do is unlock the ECU and you're flying.
Other reviews like Throttle House also say the 8 speed is a better match to the G87. After watching tons of F87 & G87 reviews YY feeds me, I find this review honest and realistic. Great job.
99% of the comments on here haven't even driven the old f series m2 be it OG or Comp never mind the newer g87 m2. The new M2 is a quicker car in every aspect, its also lighter on its feet despite being heavier. The reason it feels lighter is because its got a far better chassis, suspension and steering technology. Looks are subjective but I'd bet that most people will come to love the looks of the new M2. When the comp comes out it will be awd which all you kids love. The next series will be a 2pot hybrid no doubt and will be even heavier so prepare yourselves.
I had a drive of one on very challenging roads up in Northumberland and it was a bit of a disaster to be fair. It ran out of ideas pretty quickly, then the pads overheated. The F87 wasn’t perfect here on standard suspension either though fitting the M performance coilovers sorted this completely. However it’s a bit more grown up. A sports car it is not.

They always are. Then the new model (g87 in this case) grows on people more and people start to forget the predecessor
@@Undercover1987 I agree with the regulations and emissions part of it in this timeframe or vehicle manufacturing that we are in. As we get forced into EVs or whatever they claim next as saving the environment, enthusiasts ICE cars are not getting better, just being put in a box of limitations
Style on the new m cars is would only be appreciated by a blind man
I love the f87, but the interior looks like its ripped from a 2016 honda accord. The g87 interior feels so much more fitting of a 50k+ car. The seats in the f87 look awful, the little random swatches? idk man. Im so torn.
Telling it as it is. Respect everything you’ve said. There is no ‘winner’, it depends what you’re after. But for me, the F87 is more of an ‘M2’ and for that reason I prefer it.
my g31 is almost same weight, which is very funny
you don't know what you say. 😂😂😂
In your opinion why is G87 superior?
Far superior? I think it mainly comes down to S58>S55, weight differences and width. The F87 Comp will go down as a classic. The G87 is a beast although heavier, all you need to do is unlock the ECU and you're flying.
Other reviews like Throttle House also say the 8 speed is a better match to the G87. After watching tons of F87 & G87 reviews YY feeds me, I find this review honest and realistic. Great job.
F87 all day
“This car”
😉😉😉
Black helps hides fugly lines of new car, but old one still looks better. M4 looks better than current M2
The 350 extra kg is a deal breaker for me, currently have the F87 in mint, only 25k on it and if I change it will be the M4
It’s only 150kg heavier; he mispoke
The g87 m2 is a shorter based M4. Rear wheel drive. New m4s are just too big lol
LA MEILLEURE EST ET RESTERA LA M2 CS 👌😂
M2🤮....m2competition f87❤❤❤❤
M2competition🤮....m2cs f87❤❤❤❤
99% of the comments on here haven't even driven the old f series m2 be it OG or Comp never mind the newer g87 m2. The new M2 is a quicker car in every aspect, its also lighter on its feet despite being heavier. The reason it feels lighter is because its got a far better chassis, suspension and steering technology. Looks are subjective but I'd bet that most people will come to love the looks of the new M2. When the comp comes out it will be awd which all you kids love. The next series will be a 2pot hybrid no doubt and will be even heavier so prepare yourselves.
a batter daily...sorry, not interested
I had a drive of one on very challenging roads up in Northumberland and it was a bit of a disaster to be fair. It ran out of ideas pretty quickly, then the pads overheated. The F87 wasn’t perfect here on standard suspension either though fitting the M performance coilovers sorted this completely. However it’s a bit more grown up. A sports car it is not.
