    To all our Natchez fans, I apologize for butchering how I said Natchez. I now know of that the true way to say Natchez as a local is Natches like matches. My apologies, and I will do my best to not say it the Natchez wrong way again.

    I’m from Texas, but I live in Biloxi and work in Ocean Springs. I do not want to live anywhere else. When it comes to entertainment and food, I recommend the Beau Rivage. I may work elsewhere or travel for work but I will still live in Biloxi. Thank you for sharing Mississippi. I love for people who don’t live here to know the diversity the entire state has to offer.

Basically a lot of great concerts for a week and food, family events, art exhibits, and rides. Usually one week later "The Choctaw Indian Fair" happens where there are all kinds of cultural events to learn from, including watching stick all games and watching the traditional dancing and beautiful clothing worn.

    Don’t come to Laurel, Mississippi just because the HGTV show Hometown with Ben and Erin is filmed here. People from all over the country are moving here and ruining our reputation by finding out that we are educated, can read, have teeth, and have a large concentration of millionaires. They also watch the movie Free State of Jones with Matthew McConaughey and realize that we aren’t really into the civil war.

    As a native Mississippian, thank you for focusing on the great things our state has to offer. As for sports teams, give Mississippi State their due. Our Dawgs just won the college World Series in Omaha and our baseball stadium is considered the “Carnage Hall” of stadiums, complete with apartments with large private balconies overlooking the field. As for football tailgating SEC style, The Grove, is a not to be missed experience. After all the food and drinks the fans will share with you, you’ll be content to sit in the shade of those magnificent trees and watch the game on a TV found in many of the tents. Enjoy Mississippi from a house divided; Hail State/Hotty Toddy!

Hurricane Katrina devastated the area and most of the old, beautiful southern homes on the beach road were totally gone afterwards. Washed away. Everyone is coming back stronger. One of the most disrespectful things to do in Ms is NOT to pull over to the side of the road when a funeral line is passing by. Even if you do not know the person that died, you can still respect the grieving love ones that did. Remember death comes to all and it will be your family one day that will be given the respect due them or will you be the one speeding by to go wait in line somewhere else.

I've also visited Vicksburg for the battlefield and it was a great experience, I'll be visiting Natchez next year, hopefully staying at Dunleith. And yes the Confederate flag doesn't bother me at all as a person of color since I"m also from the South (Louisiana), no different than someone flying an Irish or Italian flag to show their heritage and its used for regional pride too.

    As a native Mississippian….
    1) Don’t waste your time in Jackson. There is no local culture left there, and you might get shot dead in broad daylight.
    2) Don’t eat at “national chain” restaurants. The local small joints will have the very best food for you.
    3) The proper way to say it…
    Pecan = “Puh-Kahn”
    Pralines = “Praw-Leans”

    Born and raised here in Vicksburg, just north of Natchez and, like many previous commenters I want to say thank you for being honest and positive about us. We aren't called the Hospitality State for nothing! As for the Confederate Memorials and such, we Mississippians were born and raised around it. Being from Vicksburg, it's everywhere here. If Vicksburg didn't have it, our tourism industry would be practically nothing and that is our "cash cow" you could say. So the whole don't kill the hen that lays the golden eggs thing... While you "Hotty Totty", I'll be over here ringing my cow bell, Hail State Ya'll!

    Most of the Confederate imagery I’ve seen in Mississippi isn’t really propped up to be racist like how most states see it. The civil war was a big part of Mississippian history especially since a lot of significant battles took place there, so many citizens view that sort of imagery as a symbol of their history and culture and separate the unsavory connotations associated with it.

    Love your channel and thank you for a very fair report on my home state. Your pronunciation of Natchez does not bother me at all.We have a lot of towns and rivers that are a little tricky to pronounce. We can blame it on a fusion of the first 2 groups of people that lived here: Native Americans and the French. Towns like Shuqualak(Sugar Lock), Kosciusko, Bogue Chitto,, Gautier, Nanih Waiya, Hushpuckena..
    Spot on comments about our food. Jackson has a large number of quality restaurants for a mid-sized city. You get very spoiled living here. My rule of thumb is never eat shrimp north of Memphis. Also, if someone invites you to a pot-luck (commonly called “Dinner on the Ground”) lunch at their church, go even if you are an Atheist.
