I envy everyone who gets snow. for the last 3 years we here in MD have only received a few inches. it is just my luck as that was when I bought my first 4x4 and wanted to play in the snow. today I just took delivery of my '19 ram 1500 classic I had built and can't wait for some bad weather to test out the geolanders that came on it.
I only got to put about 15,000km on my G015s before selling my Canyon, but I was very happy with them on dry and wet roads, a little snow, and some rocky off road driving.
That's the only A/T tire that fits on my 18 inch wheels on my Subaru Forester. For all others I'd need to buy 17s rims. They perform good in winter even though they're not true winter tires.
I don't need winter tires here in Australia. Right now I'm having Bridgestone Duellers H/L on, but they're not good on sand, gravel or mud. The Yokohamas are the only option for me.
I had the older at/s version before these were availible on the 18" forester wheels. I have a 15 forester xt and the at/s. I have been happy with the at/s except for poor wear/tread life. Im seeing a lot of good reviews so it looks like this new version (g015) have addressed that. I dropped down to 17" wheels and once my at/s are completely worn I'll be getting these (g015) in 17s even though the ko2s are availible in 225/65/17
Reading and watching a LOT of reviews on these, and the WildPeak A/T Trail, and I just keep coming back to the Geolandar A/T G015. I'll be throwing a set of these on my 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6 this coming fall, and will be looking forward to seeing how they perform on the Kentucky forest roads and light off road use I'll be putting them through.
Just my 2cents. I have had 3 sets of Geolanders on my 1999 GMC 2500 4x4 reg cab that means the truck has a 8' bed and very light back there. I live in Indianapolis IN the midwest of good ole USA. The last 2-3 winters have been mild as far as snow fall. On streets that have a right turn lane it may or may not get plowed so snow gets pushed by the plow and cars as they drive by so it can get 10"-14" deep. I put in 4 wheel drive and drive right thru it, I try not to stop because I don't put extra weight in the bed and don't want to get stuck. Matter a factly I haven't ever gotten stuck in the snow with these tires. I have the same experience as Rocket Scientist not being pulled or slide on accumulated snow in between lanes and in the center of a lane. Now on wet pavement on a round about or a very sharp S turn, with a light ass end and heavy in the front because of the engine I have slid straight instead of turning. So weight balance of your vehicle and road conditions play a important part of style for each condition of driving surface. All in all I will keep buying Geolanders for me and my wife. She has a 2010 Toyota 4 Runner and putting on her 2nd set of Geolanders on tomorrow so I will have spent $4k on these tires over the last 5 tire purchases.
Thankyou for using caution of road crew truck on shoulder. I’m sure his flashing lights alert attentive drivers to use caution for the inclement weather in the area.
I purchased and installed these tires on my 2004 4runner 2wd. I wanted quality tires but not too aggressive since I wouldn’t try to take it anywhere where I would need 4wd. I got P rated 265/70/17’s. They look good and ride great! I was wondering how they do in the snow since it looks like it has aggressive snow tread. I hear the Yokohama makes excellent snow tires. I could have gotten Goodyear ats all terrains or copper all terrains. The Goodyears looked cheap and didn’t look to last a long time. Still looked like a capable tire. The Coopers looked like better all terrains but not too good with larger spaces. The Yokohamas costed me about $200 dollars more. I thought that the other options I had which were at $700, 200 more wasn’t that bad of a deal. I could be wrong. Overall I am very happy with how they are. I don’t notice noise since I have cars with cheaper tires and a truck with mud tires. Seems nice and quiet to me! Thank you for the snow review!
Just ordered a set of these for my Toyota Rav4 in the uk. Last winter was bad here in Wales, and my tyres sucked so stepping up tbe tyre game this year. Would be interested to see how yours are doing another 9 months on from when your video was posted. Thanks for the videos
Rocket Scientist, debating between the Yokohama A/T Geolander g015 or Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail for my 2018 Acura MDX. Which are best for snow ice traction? Ride comfort? Fuel consumption? Thank you for your input!
You should clean your windshield super clean on a nice warm day, then apply a coat of car wax to the windshield. It will bead up the rain so much that you will barely need wipers in a downpour at highway speeds. I use a synthetic liquid on my car (Klasse All in One), and I use that on my windshield also (Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze may also work). It was an epiphany for me, but I later found out others do that also. Plus, your mud and snow won't stick to the windshield as much either. :-)
Thanks! Yeah I usually do wax it, but kinda let it go lately. I do the Chris Fix super clean. You should check out his vids. Dude is crazy meticulous with car stuff.
getting a full set fitted tomorrow on my UK jeep patriot, looked at the owner and you tube reviews, i just had to get them :) wont be doing any serious off roading , but living in cumbria (lake district) we get a lot of rain, water rushing over the roads from the mountains and muddy back roads in the winter (farmers and tractors lol )
ordered those few days ago decided to try them out on my pathfinder, ive been using 3 years bf goodrich ko2-s but since bf-s prices are skyrocketed with that time i thought aint gonna pay 340 eur per tire.
Once again, great review. I feel the same way. Currently at about 27,000~ kilometers on my set. Traction is still as good like when I first got them. These tires wear really well. Also, I think the "wobble" is due to the fact that it is a softer compound, to remain pliable in sub zero temperatures. The old G012's had a harder compound. So when your truck sits for a few days, it so to speak "settles." And then it rounds out again at speed. I also have experienced this.
Do these Yoko G015 tires get out of round / flat spot in warm to hot conditions too or just in the cold? I live in Phoenix with 0% chance of sub zero temps. I'm looking at these tires for a Jeep Wrangler, it can sit for days, sometimes weeks at a time which is why I ask, it runs 30x9.5 15's - have Michelin LTX tires now that are 8 years old, tread is still great and I've really liked them, best tires I've ever owned but they are no longer made in that size.
Lost in the Desert I did not experience any flat spotting in warmer weather. Seems to only happen when temps drop to about 20 deg or less. Anything warmer they're perfectly fine.
Thanks for taking the time to do this--the other thing is they are about 10lbs lighter than K02s (for my size small rig), if you are going to do 50% offroad, ok, do the KO2s, but these seem to be a great 'swiss army knife'--appreciate the point about flat spotting, weird.
THANK YOU for these videos of your Geolander A/T G015 tires. You may have saved me a lot of money! I owned BFG A/T KO2 tires on my old truck...thought they were "good" all around. But, they were never "great" at anything...off-road, on-road, snow, rain, cornering, braking. Always priced high. Went through two sets. Anyway, I now own a 2014 Silverado LTZ 4x4 and am putting a 2.5" Rough Country leveling kit (and rear blocks) to get more ground clearance, ride height, "proper" truck look...and switch to a larger A/T tire (I am running Michelin LTX MS2 on them now). Those Michelins are great on-road tires...but, boring (IMO). So, with the addition of the leveling kit, spoke with a local tire dealership and priced out BFG A/T KO2 tires...wicked expensive (for the "upsize" I want). Then I priced out the Geolander A/T G015...$500 less. So, appreciate your review and taking the time to upload videos on this tire!
Eh bro, my last pair of tires were the Yokohama s, and I am thinking of going back, up here in Canada Alberta and we get lots of "winter" weather and i have a hyundai santa fe, and its alright hasn't let me down yet tires I have now aren't even on the radar, Maxxis 711 bravo a/t's and they are not as good as the yoko s average, but that thing about crossing lanes over that hump and feeling secure its exactly what I felt when I had mine. Also making your own trax when in fresh snow ❄ 👌 similar. Great video!! That's tight you got new tires and got things sorted. Cheers 🍻, for now.
Recently picked up an xterra and it had these tires.... or the older version of this tire. I'll have to see how they handle off road but it's good to hear someone else's opinion on them. Great real world review thx
Anyone that drives a 2WD pickup knows they're death traps on snow/ice covered roads. Just put a set of these on a 08' F150. We'll see how this winter goes in Wisconsin.
Thanks for your video. Now let talk about these tires i love them.i just had a big storm in ny .my cousin has them on his jeep and they were great in the snow .No problem in snow. So mine is coming in the mail After i saw what they can do in a bad storm.I got them on ebay with a coupon 100 off my size is [ 225/65R17 big tire] . I paid $480 on ebay from discounttiredirect. And the installer only $60 to put them on total $540 . Everywhere i looked { costco walmart mavis and others} all over $730 plus to get them .So im happy with price. ok now let me help you guys how to make them last even longer. Put this stuff called [303 AEROSPACE PROTECTANT ] on the inside and out .put it on the outside every 2 two 3 mouths .And they will last much longer and save you money. tires get bald faster when they are hard and dry this stuff keeps them softer and gripping better on the road for you. you will love this stuff. hope that helps love you guys .
I bought these (LT235/75R15 - 104/101S) to put on a L300 Delica 4X4. I am impressed on how they handle in snow and ice; they do as good as a true Winter Tire ! NOW, would I push my happyness too far in using them year around like on highways in hot pavement for about 15000Km next summer ?
Hi….could anyone please comment on changes of MPG when switching to these tires? I have a 2022 F350 Tremor that came with Duratracs…and they did pretty well for 50k. No complaints. I just put on stock 285/75/r18 Wildpeak AT4W’s….and my MPG took an immediate hit of about 2.5-3 MPG. They are smooth and quiet which is great…but going from average 17.5 to 15 ish is pretty tough. Thanks in advance for any input of experience.
Hi there, thanks you for your reviews! I've seen all of your videos regarding this tire. I was impressed with your 68'000 miles on the g012. I'm really close to buy it. I've a smaller car compared to yours, a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. I live in Switzerland and snow is common during winter time. I have also to deal with roads that climbs very hard. In your experience, how will perform this tire by climbing in the snow? Consider slopes up to 20%.
Thanks so much! I haven't really done much snow climbing, but I have driven a renegade before. With as light and maneuverable as your vehicle is, you should be OK, especially with the extra capabilities of the Trailhawk package. If you need something more aggressive, the G003 looks like a winner too!
Getting these on my 2009 Honda Pilot. I am looking forward to the better control making lane changes on snowy freeway. The Michelin's i have now were good but always got a little skittish changing lanes at speed on snowy freeway. Thanks for review, makes me feel like i made the right choice. I will up date after i go over Donner pass this weekend with expected 6-12 inches snowfall.
Depends what your previous tires were (winters or not) and your vehicle. Heavier vehicle and most any snow tire is going to be as he described with changing lanes. So his review is helpful, we know they offer similar winter performance as a basic/good winter tires. Which is precisely what I'm looking for in an all weather rated tire. So I'm probably going to get these myself!
Even when I had a light little Toyota Celica with basic Nordic tires I could Cross Lanes in a blizzard (fearing for my life) and then I'm like "oh that was easy, the tires didn't find that a challenge". So anything that doesn't give us this capability is not good enough for winter :)
Thanks for the reviews you posted on this tire. I have a 17 Jeep Renegade with 18inch Kumo Crugen tires and im not impressed with snow traction. The tread pattern is way more aggressive on the Yokohama compared to the Kumo.
What about the dirt or gravel road? I may have missed it. Good review. I just ordered a set. I'm thinking the H3 isn't a "truck" but that's a debate for another time.
I have problems with GO12 on snow... I bought them in October 2018 and now I am looking to dispatch them and buy something else, AT for snow or AT with better winter performances... Is that tyre that I'm looking for - AT GO15? I am finding hard to trust Yokohama again 😔
My experience was the exact opposite. I loved the G012's. They never let me down once. The G015's are the newer version since they discontinued the G012.
I've had Subaru Foresters for 12 years and had a few different tyres. The older AT-S was amazing and I now have the GO15 fitted. These are the best snow tyres I've ever had, even pushing through snow deeper than the bumper. They handle superbly on road as well. I teach off road driving (using Landrovers) so know a bit about getting around off road. There are big differences in 4x4 vehicle performance in snow. Look for your vehicle on UA-cam to see if there's a snow test. As I'm sure you know, driving on snow is something that has to be learned. I find a lot of people could do with some instruction. I don't know what level of experience you have or what vehicle you have, but in my experience I wouldn't buy anything else for my vehicle!

Also I wanted to buy a all terrain that not many people buy lol I see a ton of good year duratrac tires in my hometown area also every one has bfgoodrich ko 2 ‘s too
Just fucking get these tires. I have a set with 25k on them; it does exceptionally well in mud and snow. It don’t look like it will but it just does. I go offroading 3 times a week.
At 34-38 the truck feels like I'm driving on marshmallows especially around corners. Feels way better at 40 with a lot more control and less mushy feeling.
@@RocketScientist What does that mean? They won't handle very well in snow and heavy rain? I don't need them so much for off road but I want to be safer on heavy rain and snow to avoid accidents.
@@swaha55 you asked if the g015 handles better than the g055 in snow and rain. Never owned the g055 so all I have to go on is a picture of the g055. Based on that, I would not go for the g055. I sometimes have to drive through a foot of snow or more, so it just wouldn't work for me.

Agreed, they're no blizzaks for sure, but like I said in my 1,000 mile review, Jack of all trades, master of most.
I'm thinking really hard about throwing these on my 09 outback.
How are they in the rain and snow???
@@mercedesbenzs600bash Excellent!

Of course! I never go blasting by those guys.
Check out my most recent update on these. Little bit of an issue came up.
Got these recommended for my RAV4 too. Really appreciated the initial review and subsequent updates.
Thank you for posting the videos. I am thinking of getting these tires for my crossover when the time for replacement comes.
Thanks! Yeah I usually do wax it, but kinda let it go lately. I do the Chris Fix super clean. You should check out his vids. Dude is crazy meticulous with car stuff.
I do know of and sometimes watch the Chris Fix videos. They are great tutorials. Thanks for the suggestion.
Now you sir, know how to give a proper review of tires. A lot of others make it so hard and awkward, for something relatively easy.
getting a full set fitted tomorrow on my UK jeep patriot, looked at the owner and you tube reviews, i just had to get them :) wont be doing any serious off roading , but living in cumbria (lake district) we get a lot of rain, water rushing over the roads from the mountains and muddy back roads in the winter (farmers and tractors lol )
ordered those few days ago decided to try them out on my pathfinder, ive been using 3 years bf goodrich ko2-s but since bf-s prices are skyrocketed with that time i thought aint gonna pay 340 eur per tire.
I also have experienced this.
ltwp good to know it's not just me! Thanks for your comments!
Anything warmer they're perfectly fine.
great review man, thinking about getting these for my subaru
Thanks for taking the time to do this--the other thing is they are about 10lbs lighter than K02s (for my size small rig), if you are going to do 50% offroad, ok, do the KO2s, but these seem to be a great 'swiss army knife'--appreciate the point about flat spotting, weird.
Hey! Thank YOU for taking the time to comment! I appreciate it very much!
Chris DIYer Thank YOU kind sir! Sub for periodic updates if you're interested
Awesome review, thank you!
Having these put on tommorow. Having high Hope's since my goodyear wranglers shake like hell and hydroplane in wet weather
Hell yeah ditch those wranglers. That's what my truck came with and I got rid of them right away. They were dangerous.
will get a set of these for my 2007 Pajero! thanks for the review
Thankyou for ur review, very informative from a real world experience.
I’m guessing the flat spots are due to a softer tire compound. That would be a great thing for snow wouldn’t it? Softer tires as opposed to hard ones?
Sure no problem!
im looking at the geos now thanks for the reveiw . good job. i would suggest not making the music so loud , it harder to hear u talk.
thank you!
Recently picked up an xterra and it had these tires.... or the older version of this tire. I'll have to see how they handle off road but it's good to hear someone else's opinion on them. Great real world review thx
Xterra is a beast off road. Can be past a 45° and not tip over! Crazy good as a offroad beater
Put this stuff called [303 AEROSPACE PROTECTANT ] on the inside and out .put it on the outside every 2 two 3 mouths .And they will last much longer and save you money. tires get bald faster when they are hard and dry this stuff keeps them softer and gripping better on the road for you. you will love this stuff. hope that helps love you guys .
dre D That 303 Aerospace stuff is no joke! I use it all the time! seems to last longer than anything else out there too. Thanks for your comments!
Denis Bastien Nice! For as long as I've had them, I've driven mostly dry pavement and highway and have been very happy. Thanks for your comments!
The flat spotting could be the tires might be a bias ply tire
Nah.. bias ply tires are largely obsolete for regular vehicles except maybe racing slicks or some other specialty use..
Solid review, thanks!
Next tires for my 4runner sport 4wd
Hi….could anyone please comment on changes of MPG when switching to these tires? I have a 2022 F350 Tremor that came with Duratracs…and they did pretty well for 50k. No complaints. I just put on stock 285/75/r18 Wildpeak AT4W’s….and my MPG took an immediate hit of about 2.5-3 MPG. They are smooth and quiet which is great…but going from average 17.5 to 15 ish is pretty tough. Thanks in advance for any input of experience.
Ha these on my xterra now i own a ram 1500 and will being going back to these from nitto 420s
Nice video. What size tires and wheels are you running?
Stock wheels, LT265/75/16
How do these compare to Maxxis Bravo 771. Just curious if anyone has experience with both.
Nice! Looking forward to what you think about them
Depends what your previous tires were (winters or not) and your vehicle.
Jason Nieves you're very welcome! Glad to help
Great video!
Just stuck a set on my jimny.
What about the dirt or gravel road? I may have missed it.

Good job. Thanks.
I’ve had my Geolanders for 4 k now. Still great no regrets. My size is 285/55/22 , what tire pressure do you use ?
Ya flat spots. I get them on my 2wd s10 yr round touring tires. That's why u need 2 drive on hwy now n then to let centrifugal force rebalance tires
Flat spots... hmmmm. My 265/70r17 toyo AT2s sit for weeks with no flat spots. And only have them at 37psi
The Geolandar A/T G015 vs Continental TerrainContact AT? Best tires+lowest road noise?!
Huh?
It has a flat spot cuz its such a tuff hard tire its normal it will do it more in colder weather
Its better that michelin defender ltx m/s?

They've been excellent in some really harsh winters. I've also heard good things about Falken Wildpeak AT3's that a buddy of mine has, as well as Goodyear Duratracs. I guess it depends on how much you wanna spend.
Yeah i had the duratracs and they were awesome but im trying to stay in around that 800 or 900 dollar range lol im running 275/60r20’s on my ram
Your over-inflated less wear on the outside edge. You need 34psi that will even out the wear.
At 34-38 the truck feels like I'm driving on marshmallows especially around corners. Feels way better at 40 with a lot more control and less mushy feeling.
Do you think these GO15 handle a lot better in snow and heavy rain than the Geolandar GO55?
Just looking at the difference in tread type and depth, I'd say definitely. The G055 looks more like a sport tire in comparison.
Did you get the LT version or just the standard one?
