Thoughts on these? let us know!
I think they are awesome!!!
@jc7654 you and I are about to be the two viewer-product-testers it seems; i’m throwing a set of studded 275/65r20 G017’s on my Ram classic warlock this week! 🤙🏼
@TyreReviewVideos thank you for putting this up; this reaffirmed my decision in buying these, and hyped me up for delivery tomorrow 🙌🏼🔥
These tires are absolutely wild. I had them studded; they handle like champions on any surface i’ve come across.
They do not hydroplane, they dig right through any surface water, even up to 4” so far (at 60mph!), they love gravel roads, eat up bumps as nicely as any 2ply LT, and they have the MOST confidence & grip in the snow. INSANE!!!
I've already decided these will be my next tire in LT285/75R18 for my Toyota Tundra. One of the most aggressive tires ive found that still maintains the 3PMS designation for performance here in Canada through the winter.
Looking at the same size with the same truck myself. What are you lift specs? How do you like the tires?
Same, decent amount of sipes and can get them studded. The Duratracs in this size are no longer 3 speak rated and are not studdable.
I'm actually looking at these in the same size for my Tundra as well 🤣
Puahaha I’m looking at the same size also. Anyone needing to BMC to fit it?
I don't know if you all pulled the trigger on them yet but I got some on my super duty and I love them
Hey there eh I just bought a set of these Geolandar AT/ XD studded. 35x12.5R 17. I live in southern Alberta Canada eh I regularly travel to BC to visit my daughters on Hwy#3 a notorious mountain adventure with a total of 5 mountain passes that hold snow all winter and has freezing below 1000 metres on evenings. Tight twisting grades with steep grades. These skins with studs will climb like a mountain goat. I am a 38 year veteran owner operator long haul trucker. When my rig is chained with 2 sets of triples with heavy V-bar devices I pull my Super B Trains up anything. These Geolandars are bloody awesome eh despite the studs they handle great on winter bare roads. Studs not so quiet lol eh I’d say without the studs these will match my old KO2’s for noise eh Surprised me
Nice to see this comment
I’d like a studded set for my kids hockey tournaments
Everyone who has watched this, the Yokohama G018 AT has just released early July, best tires I’ve ever ridden on. Very aggressive for an AT, and kinda looks like a big rig tire at the same time. Amazing performance
I want these so bad for my next set, truck came with non 3 peak rated duratrac which are decent traction in the snow but wore terribly on the road. Jared the reviews are hilarious, don’t change!😂
I’m running these on my prado have been last 4 months or so absolutely love them. Amazing off road and pretty good on a little noisey but nothing to bad would defiantly recommend.
How would you compare their stiffness/rigidity to other offroad tires? I worry these would be too hard for my trucks around the same weight as prado. I don’t know if it’s worldwide but here in America they are being marketed explicitly as a commercial truck tire for people who commute to mines and construction sites. You feel like they’re a good fit on your rig though?
These youtubers or the actual websites need to explain what make "commercial" tire...or why this wouldn't be recommended for regular on road/ off road use...I mean if they are limiting themselves, explain why@@jcarry5214
Gday mate, almost 18mths later. How have the G017s held up? Would you buy them again?
How do you rate these after 1year?
So glad Yokahoma have come out with these. I was going to go with the G003, but these will fit my needs perfectly. Love that they are available in size 235/85r16.
The 003 is a very good tire, best MT I know of in the rain and snow but these will be much better while still having a little MT in them.
@@jcarry5214 so far the at xd have been great.
@@nrspence8258 Great, thanks! I'm seriously considering these on both of our vehicles. what environment do you live in, and what size truck if I may ask? Have you run them in mud or rain yet? We've had 2 sets of yokohamas in my house and they both had tolerable oddities. Like the go15 hunted on some highway sections and were not that good in rain. My concernis that out little 1/4 ton nissans won't be heavy enough for them.
@@jcarry5214 I live in Utah so high desert. I’ve used these in rocks, mud and slush snow. They worked well in all those environments. These tires have a really thick tough side wall, it was tough getting the beads to set on these tires. I’m running 235/85r16 on a 21 ford ranger. I usually just run 30 psi down the road, and only air down in soft sand or bad rocky trails.
@@nrspence8258 No shit, I'm in Utah too. My wife is worried they won't be aggressive enough for mud because they don't look as mean as the g003, I told her they're good enough in mud, at least 80 percent as good but they'll be better in the snow when she's driving through Daniel's and Parley's. Overall the Yokohamas have treated us great, tougher than they get credit for. I'm just having a hard time convincing her that she doesn't need boggers, that she's actually just a better driver than the people she sees stuck.
I am currently running them on my Triton, and found they are quiet compared to the Toyo open country . I like em, been pretty good . I'm happy
How they going? Any disappointment?
@jameslovespizza still pretty chuffed with them, definately better traction, I would get them again, put them up there with Micky Thompson's. Good tyre.. thanks man
Which Toyo Open Country?
@Icutmetal open country 2 a/t from memory, they were a good tyre, I liked them, I find better traction with the geo Lander's
So far I'm loving mine I put 285 75R 18s on my 2023 Super Duty
How do they tow
Just bought some putting them on Friday! Really excited to see how they perform! I like your videos. Great at it!
How are they so far?
So what’s your thoughts with these tyres
How are they?
G'day mate. Did you end up buying them?
great review, I always look forward to your videos
1,000 miles, Offroad Tacoma...balance perfectly!
300 mile break in period.
Not a true mud tire, but I hope to try them out in the snow!
Australia gets snow too! You should know that!
It's a pity Yokohama are not also yet bringing the Geolandar CV 4S G061 to Australia.
The new G061 (3PMSF rated all season) would be super useful for those who do not need the all terrain capability of the G015 but need the wet road and snow and icy conditions capability on a tyre that can be used all year round. Anyone who goes to the alpine snow resorts, even once a year, or drives a lot on country roads in winter around New South Wales or Victoria, Tasmania, would do well in terms of general driving safety to get the new G061s.
Just ordered these in a 35 12.5 r20.... 22/32nds tread depth.. mud territory depth in an AT is amazing
I'm gonna get a set of these next. I've had Goodyear Duratracs on for the last 87,000km and been really happy with them. I would've got Duratracs again, but I don't like the rolled over look of the edge blocks on the new RT version.
I jsut found out about these today, so glad to see you guys have a review already. My wife is almost done with a set of yoko 003 muds, and they were OK in the snow but I want to worry less about it. SHe actually does need them for work, she gets miles of mud and high snowy passes on the same drive quite often.
I just ordered a set of these for my 2024 Chevy 2500 super excited to see how they turn out
Really appreciate these videos, thanks guys
Definitely going to have to try these after my Toyo RT trail run out of tread I had a 04 Suburban Z71 with the with the Yokohama geolandar g015 they did okay so I flipped the truck but all around they were good tire for the price he's on the other hand look promising I'm a sucker for new products and I like testing them
That would be a good comparison. Keep us posted
When you get a chance please do a video on the new BFG HD-Terrain TA KT I believe it’s supposed to be a direct competitor for this tire class
I'm going to be putting a set on some new rims and running them on my 200. I'm already running the x-a/t G016 on it in 285/65r18 and very happy with them but planning on doing a fair bit of bush and gravel over the next 7 months so i think that a set of five of the more mine site orientation G017 XD A/T will work well for the driving i have planned.
That's awesome mate! Let us know how you go with them when you've done a few K's 💪
Hey mate
Did you end up running these tyres on your 200? If so what do you think?
Cheers 👍🏽
yeah i have been running them on the 200 and I'm really happy with them, a little more noise, about half-way to mud tyre's noise level. very square tread profile compared to the x-at that's got a crown. so far i haven't had any issues with them at all and they have heaps of grip , I've had no issues with finding traction with them. they do feel a little more direct on the car then the x-at's i had on before. probably from the square tread profile. I'll have more of an idea in a few months
@@jc7654how do you rate the GO17 over the GO16? I've currently got some old BFG muddies that need replacing and looking to step tred down to an AT as I don't do the same bush and track kms that I used to.
What about the ability to balance them? Keep running Toyo's for the ability to run at highway speed without shaking the truck apart
mine balanced up really well, 60g was the most. hope this helps
Just bought a 2020 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax. The dealer had installed these 35x12.50r20 They are very quiet considering A slight vibration at 65-70mph. . My last truck had the Yoko MT G003 I was disappointed with them as a truck tire. They were loud and cupped out bad on a 1500 Chevrolet 4x4. These seem to be a much better tire for a Truck compared to the MT G003. Comparable to the Nitto Ridge Grapplers I ran on my last 2500hd.
still waiting on the Yoko family vid...that will be great to watch! Yokohama do build a good tyre. I'm thinking of trying them after my current Falken at3w's run out (great tyre, 255/65-R17 XL), either a GO15 LT255/65-R17 (stock size) or the GO17 in LT 245/70-R17. Still undecided. Leaning to the GO15 but that GO17 looks tough as 😁 Any thoughts? Then there is the Maxxis Razr AT at LT255/65-R17 with 3PMSF........aaarrrgggghh.....tooo many options that take 4 years to wear out!
How much driving do you do on the pavement, and do you air down much? I had the 15s for a while, they had a small whine on the highway that became very loud at a specific speed, and they hunted a fair bit on grooved surfaces, and they weren’t as safe in the rain as I wanted them to be at high speeds. But below 60 mph they were exceptional and refused to wear out. They handled off road conditions much better than they get credit for.
@@jcarry5214 Hi, were you on the P rated or LT rated ones. They seem to be fairly different which is a pain! Construction/tread/etc....
Cheers
@@danold6443 LT. Which one is worse?
@@danold6443 come to think of it my close friend has the SL version and they are quieter. Can’t say anything about rain. they’ve been okay when we’ve been off the highway and he swears he doesn’t ever have puncture problems but I don’t think I’m comfortable with trying it, on some tracks here the rocks are extremely sharp.
@@jcarry5214 The LT's have a deeper and more aggressive (similar) tread pattern to the P metric ones. The P metric are more aimed at SUV's etc. I'd say LT for a 4wd ute (truck) etc with higher load rating requirements, P metric for say a Subaru outback etc. I guess the compounds are the same so each should perform the same in the real world.
I just ordered a set for my ram today, LT275/60/20. I enjoyed you video
I’m considering these for my Ram also. How are they doing for you so far?
@mjpress4599 They are doing great, I probably need to rotate them as they've got about 4k on them. Right out of the gate, I dogs a 2000 mile trip to Ohio and back to missouri. They have a nice hum to them that is normal with a more aggressive tire but not even close to the old supper swapper tsl that were on the willy's. I absolutely recommend them and can't wait to see how they do in the snow. They are very grippy and have a definite squared shape, so no high speed off ramps, or you will probably wear them down fast .
Just put a set on order they'll be here tomorrow. Winter is right around the corner here in idaho
What vehicle are you running these on? I'm considering these for my RAM 3500
Now that winter is almost over, how did you like the tires?
Looking forward for that family of Tyre's comparison
Yeah, we'll put it near the top of the list, as there's a good range now 👍
lol I dug the editing. Considering these for my Defender 110.
Why do you think Tyre (tire) companies in Australia are hiding specifications of their products, like “weight” “tread depth” “tread width” … have noticed in the states they are starting to remove this information as well.
It's bloody annoying!!
Hey now! We get a ton of snow in California. At least in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Tahoe is awesome for deep snowwheeling. 😀
I was seriously considering this tyre for touring but I will probably go with something else due to the lack of information and long term reviews. It's been 1yr since this announcement and practically nothing more is known about the tyre.
The Australian Yokahama web site is almost useless for tyre information and specifications. For me at least, this IS a huge factor in making a PURCHASING DECISION given there is no other information about their tyres in Australia.
Why?
If the manufacturer is not upfront with the specifications AND the warranty terms then how can anyone take them seriously when other companies do this?
Perhaps this explains the lack of non sponsored reviews of this tyre 1 year later?
I note that Yokahama appear to offer no cover from damage on their extreme durability tyre vs their other A/T tyres which I find "surprising" for a tyre that claims to be durable.
What size was that tire you introduced?
Trying to decide between these or the Baja boss AT
had the Baja Boss, very difficult to balance, will not buy them again. Bought these Yokohama AT XD, great tire so far!!!
Get a chance to use them in snow? If so how’s it compare to the bajas
Sold by the nose test. Should be a standard form of measurement!
the outer blocks are variable pitched, this will be like any other AT in regards to noise.
LMAO is the nose test a thing 😂😂😂
Absolutely! All the cool kids are doing it now.
I just put these on my Denali 1 ton diesel… they look great, have a nice quiet and soft ride but are horrible for towing… beyond horrible, I would say dangerous. I’m returning them this week for Falcon Wildpeaks. I really wanted a new brand but I’m going back to a tire I know can handle the loads. I had a loaded trailer (14g lbs) going uphill around corners I felt like my trailer was ‘pushing’… this was because my load caused sidewall roll pushing the back out and shifting the front wheels in… my heart sopped few times, and it only got worse on the downhills. I wiggled my steering wheel and inch in either direction and the shimmy multiplied from the smallest correction…I don’t know if it’s the big outside lugs or a weaker sidewall. I pull consistent loads in my trailer on the same route hundreds of times and the Geolanders just can’t handle the load safely. If you’re just putting them on your truck or SUV without towing then I think they would be just fine… the big treads do pick up LOTS off stones though. If you have your family and are pulling a trailer… just don’t!
Sounds good, I don’t want too stiff sidewalls for my FJ.
Wonder how it compares to Yokohama XA-T.
Exactly...similar weight, both 3 ply...what am i losing/gaining with each tire...he should have gone more into that
Hi guys, can you do a review on tyres that are best suited for heavy 4x4 with canopy, like weight carrying and heat build up and off road, like letting your tyres down with 4 ton vehicles. Thanks Jamie
What's the rated speed of this tyre? Q ?
I just learned about these tires. And im in Canada. You have way more info
Trying to decide between the Yokohama AT GO15 and the Yokohama AT XD GO17. Looking for traction on wet roads, sand, gravel, dirt and pavement. They would be on a Ram Rebel. Which would you recommend?
I ran the g015 for a while on my nissan. They are very good tires, a lot tougher off road than they get credit for, but their truck type design always made them slightly whiny on the highway and made them hunt on grooved concrete a little more than anything else I've had. Long wearing for sure. I bought them used, ran for 20k and they're still in my basement in fantastic shape. Definitely not as great in rain as you'd think though, at least on my lighter vehicle. Good in the snow but not quite as good as falkens but better in every other condition. They probably would be better on a heavier rig like the rebel, really more of a FS tire than a suv, they are stiffer than the MT g003 we have on my wife's frontier. Oh they all flat spot a little overnight if that annoys you. not as bad as the MT but more than my mickeys for sure.
G015
can you guys do the Hankook dynapro XT
Did i miss where you said country of manufacture?
i do believe it's made in japan
@@snowpatrol685 Awesome if they are
yes, tire rack says made in japan.@@peterryan7340
My tires are completely bald and I have no money but I'm really wanting these
😅 I live in Montana, so I need a studdable tire
His ADHD matched mine.....so I bought a set. Time to chase off road SQUIRLS!!!
So this is a RT (hybrid), yes? How it compares with the Wrangler Duratrac?
I'm pretty sure the Duratrac was a direct comparison they used when creating this tyre, so you'd think its dynamics would be fairly similar on the vehicle.
Hey I bought Mickey Thompson legends exp 33x12.5r15.
Getting punchers constantly.
What's your thoughts in the toughest construction tire 50/50 road off road running on a Gu platrol looking at going to a 16" rim.
Bought geolander go15 second hand while I try warranty on the Mickey's
Also getting flat from rocks in the tread straight through the thick blocks and 3 in in no more then 5,000ks of gravel road 2wd kinda stuff I'd gladly take my Mazda 3 along.
What’s a puncher?
@@Icutmetal rocks are getting though the tire
@ Punching the tires?
The nose test sold me on this tire because the nose knows.
Is anyone using these on a Jeep Wrangler?
Installing on a Jl in 285/75/18 on Monday
Duratrac is not tough as nails.
tough as balloons
Or a wet paper bag.
i cant find the geolanders in the size i need, ive got 15x12.50 rims and the only geolanders i see are MTS and i want ATs
He's done that nose snif test with his wife lol
Yeah nah I’ll stick to the el’ cheapies. Not much between
I'm confused why every tire reviewer talks ad nauseum about snow performance when the majority of drivers won't need any serious snow tires. Seems like off-roaders are universally more likely to encounter mud. Not a single mention of the mud performance in this video.
I have noticed that too. I do drive in snow at times but it’s what I’m probably least concerned about when it comes to a AT trail tire.
Here is snow on the ground 5 months of the year.
Because it’s not a mud tire.
🛞 ❄️ 👃 lol
Love this guy, but I have to stop watching when he sticks his nose in the tire.
There’s no need to announce your departure.
If I where to buy theese for my 2.2 diesel outlander how much more fuel would it use?🫣🤔
