► Things my patients have found helpful:
Please note that I get a lot of requests and questions about what equipment is ‘best’ for treating a variety of conditions. The following is not meant to be an exhaustive or definitive list. Please use it as a starting point. If you have questions, please discuss with your healthcare provider. With that said, I have tried a number of the products below, but not all. I have included some based on positive feedback from many of my patients. As an Amazon Associate, Dr Peng earns from qualifying purchases. Thanks for commenting and for the support!
I had surgery 18months ago (non orthopedic). I had to stop my salmon fish oil and turmeric for 2 weeks. I thought what a difference, pain was so bad almost intolerable.
Great video! Thanks. I like your unbias summary of the data at the end, and really like the showing of research literature so we can read the details on our own.
Glad it was helpful!
I am currently taking Omega 3. I was having lots of joint pain which I felt might be related to having consumed too much Omega 6 ( mostly from consuming "Olive oil" which turned out to actually be Sunflower Oil, do some reading on fake Olive oil it is pretty rampant) which can lead to inflammation. Om6 is used by the body to activate inflammation and Om3 to turn it off..we need both types. The results of taking the Om3 for me have been fantastic, all of the sore joints have improved significantly over the past three weeks. It would be helpful I think to point out that due to high levels of Omega 6 in many of our modern foods that most people have an unhealthy ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 which can lead to inflammation. I suspect that just about everyone that eats modern foods would benefit from taking Omega 3 just to restore an unhealthy ratio of OM6 to OM3. Best, James
Hi. I checked the second article referenced, on high-dose vs low-dose omega-3. It would be beneficial to know how much EPA or DHA was used in each dose.
Also, the "difference in cartilage volume" refers to cartilage loss, correct? If so, I would hypothesize that the Omega-3 inhibits or at least slows cartilage loss.
I have been taking fish oil supplements for many years to reduce inflammation from RA and OA. From the studies you present, I may have to consider discontinuing these supplements. Back to my old friend PubMed.
If not Knee Osteoarthritis, are Omega 3 fish oil capsules good for anything? Like heart and eyes as claimed by brands ?
I had ankle pain for about 2 years and after starting onega 3 supplements, in just a month the pain has eased up by a lot.
Can you cover bovine gelatine powder for arthritis and joint pain. Thank you Sir!
Sure, I'll add it my list
Do methyl ester form gives the same benefit as natural form ?
What about cod liver oil I think it's good for bone joint health

May I know which one is the PRP after the centrifuge procedure. The top one which is yellow translucent in color or the one below which is thick red blood in color?
Apparently I see mixed results I don't know which is which, some uses the yellow translucent one while others uses the thick red blood at the bottom. Which is the one?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. The plasma layer is the top yellow layer. However, the majority of the layer is actually "PPP" or platelet poor plasma. PRP is the very thin layer between the red blood cell layer and the PPP.
@@JeffreyPengMD so if the PRP is the top layer (yellowlike translucent) what is the one at the bottom that is thick red?
I read that you should avoid omeg-3 during prp. What do you think?
In theory, omega 3 supplements MIGHT affect PRP. But there is no evidence to support this. It's probably fine.
Algae oil is from a plant before it gets to the fish. The fish eat the algae. It is the best way to get omega 3 from a plant source. It doesn’t have to be changed from ALA into EPA and DHA. It’s already EPA and DHA. It just eliminates the fish and fish burps.
Definitely more studies need to be done!
b.s, i thank the fish for the work they do, much like cows who eat all the wheat grass crap so i dont have to
@kastelvetro1491 I really don't get their mindset, lol. The fat/protein profile of plants vs. animals is massively different.
I've had quad tendon pain for months (powerlifting), should I go with the prp or with
shock wave therapy or Hyaluronic acid.....which one has more benefits?
Unfortunately head to head studies have not been done to compare the two treatments. Both seem like great options but please discuss with your health care provider, good luck
Fish oil is the best for any joint or tendon pain, almost gone once I started taking it
Doctor can you make a video about flavonoids like Quercetin, resveratrol or fisetin. Dose quercetin and olive oils reduce common inflammation
I'll consider adding that to my list of future videos, thanks!
Not going lie it seems to help my hands and I notice the difference once not taking them
Can I take Omega 3 daily bcz of knee swelling due to arthritis???
Best to discuss with your health care provider, best of luck
My doctor suggested Omega 3, from wild salmon caught in northern Atlantic waters, for migraines which i began to suffer from while going thru menopause.
Company was FDA approved. It worked just a quickly as prescribed meds. Other over the counter salmon omega 3 did not help.It also did not help my osteoarthritis.
Wild caught salmon has more omega 3 than farmed.
You are wrong for not recommending omega 3 for arthritic Niece or joints. I am living proof that it helps a lot. I stopped taking it for two weeks and my niece started aching so bad after exercise that I had to take a whole week off when I realize that it was because I stopped taking the omega-3 and I also stopped taking vitamin D three I had more painful knees and joints. so please doctor do more research if I was you I would do a follow up video on this.
Is cartilage regeneration even possible?
Not at this time
My cartilage regenerated I took ayurvedic treatment.
@@Nitin_Datikahow long it took to regeneration please
Please tell me the ayurvedic address @@Nitin_Datika
I was told to look at the COAs so not fish oils are equal. Make sure you let your patients know the facts. I use Rosita Naturals.
Do omega 3 increase the testosterone and sperm cells including mobility?
I'm not familiar with omega-3 and reproductive issues, sorry!
Fish oil is total nonsense
Annoying doctor who keep flexing his science jargons
Does nothing for arthritis nor inflammation!!
