Many people in Western Europe have no comprehension of what Belarus went through in WW2. The losses were horrific and hard to comprehend. I have shown the film Come and See to friends in the U.K. and they found it genuinely shocking, but that was how things were. Ukraine, Poland and Belarus were on another level in the horrors that went on in those dark times.

I rate Come and See (Idi i Smotri) as the greatest WW2 film I have seen. It is a genuinely horrific and moving piece of cinema and should be watched by as many people as possible. It is incredibly realistic and far more accurate than the many Hollywood fairy stories about WW2. We in the West simply cannot understand what these countries went through during WW2.

Thats because Hitlers plan was to genoicide all slavic people and turn eastern europe into a greater germany. Leibensraum. That wasnt the plan for western europeans who went jewish.

    Very beautiful trip.
Indeed Belarus lost 2.5 million in ww2. And when compare to usa+uk+france lost less than a 1 million you realize how much the war very costly for this country.

@@IrishPartizan wow thank you so much, I'm honored. Ok thanks for the info, I speak passable Russian so I would really love to travel there, and anywhere in the Russian world. And you are right that one is much safer there than in any city in America; the crime rate is out of control, robberies are up 250% in some neighborhoods in Chicago where I live. It's pure chaos. Less than 5 percent of crimes result in convictions.

Great idea of showing us historical parts of Belarus. Instead talking about your false love of the system you have an oportunity to showing us something of real value as in this example mass killings of local popularion during wwii and thats objectively actually informative.
