this is probably the most fascinating aspect of the lore, but am i the only one who's fascinated by what Bethesda is plpanning to tell of what happened between Skyrim and ESVI. Between Oblivion and Skyrim we had A LOT happening so it stands to reason that we should expect a lot happening after Skyrim too.
This is really one of my favourite lore topics in the whole of TES. Much appreciated Drewmora! I find the Thalmor a fascinating antagonist. In my own Skyrim file I roleplay a Thalmor aligned character. Mods are a great thing.
I'm doing the same right now. While I do appreciate the flavor given by existing mods, I've never been able to properly get into an RP mindset. I suppose all I can do is try once more.
I really want Bethesda to use the adamantine towers and the high elves for the ES6 main story. It's always sounded so cool and in my opinion, would be the best main quest for an elder scrolls game
Great video. My theory: the attack on the Empire was entirely a suicide mission. They let the Emperor get away to gather reinforcements. They sent in that army to sack the capital, but had no intention of keeping it. They used this attack to deactivate the White Gold Tower, which they had more than enough time to do. After that, they waited for the Empire to return and wipe them out. This completely distracted from their true goal to the destroy of the Towers. Destroy the White Gold Tower and withdraw would have raised suspicion and risked their sages from finding out. So they attack the capital, sack it, allow the Emperor to escape, deactivate the tower, then get wiped out. Now everyone sees this as a failed military operation, when in fact it was entirely successful and no one has any clue. Some soldiers and some humiliation are a small price to pay for total victory.
I can see it now: You, the fated hero, breaking out of a Thalmor Interrogation site amongst a prison riot with the help of a disillusioned agent. It's here he tells you of the Altmer plans for Iliac Bay, tells you where to meet his contacts, and throws you on board a ship of Thalmor-allied Breton Mercs already headed out to sea. But disaster hits. The Thalmor have caught up to your boat, and they blast it apart to make it look like a shipwreck. You are flung out of the ship and into the sea. You wake up in Hammerfell's southern shores, miles away from your goal, and with Thalmor agents nipping on your heels. Redguards sift through the wreckage, see you with Thalmor markings, and bring you in. This is where the game starts.
I started watching Fudgemuppet back in 2014 ish and when you joined them their content definitely increased in quality. I had no idea yoy had your own channel other than noticing your absence there. Sea travel part and running into sea elves basically guarding the 1st pillar. Something that grants their king .... no spoilers. But anyways the tower gets destroyed and we go to somewhere above the dreamsleeve. A more ...anuic experience

I couldn’t click on this notification fast enough. Can’t wait to listen to this after work tonight when I enter the world of mundus and hear the calming voice of our lore master Drewmora. Honestly Drew, I love your content. So we’ll done!
Would the Direnni join the Thalmor or would they oppose them? Maybe part of the story, depending on our choices, will explore how half elves are viewed by the Direnni. They are their descendants and the oldest royal lines have Direnni blood.
On the topic of towers, powers and secret knowledge a few things come to mind: Would the Heart-fortified Tribunal been able to open the Aperture and manipulate the Zero Stone? They seem to have had both divine abilities and the experience with Stone manipulation. Do Skeleton Key or Mehrunes' Razor have the ability to bypass the "security"? From the lore perspective both items have great inter dimensional powers. And how could other mystic societies, such as Moth Priests and Psijic Order, attempt to gain knowledge about the Zero Stone.
It would be amazing if we got both provinces, I think it's correct in assuming that the tech they are using with Starfield is going to be used for TES 6 as well. Maybe that "leak" I heard of a while back talking about building your own sailing ship to use as a player home and way to navigate the bay will turn out to be true as well.
Honestly I think the empire needs to fall for man to rise, it's an old dog whose only trick seems to be abandoning the god protectors of man first Shor then Talos.
the whole "Thalmor want to unmake the world" thing comes from something Michael Kirkbride wrote AFTER departing from Bethesda. There is no official reference or ties to it in the official cannon. Anything written by outside sources is by definition "Fan fiction". As cool as that theory may be, I can't see an entire race, or even a majority of it, believing in that cause and wanting to end their existence. In fact ESO pretty much goes against this. The Dominion in ESO is a much kinder Dominion under Queen Ayrenn. They aren't trying to end the world or existence. Instead they help save it from Molag Bal. The Thalmor are just the military government of the Dominion. They use fear to control even their own subjects.
Their entire religion is based around Shor slander, crying about losing their supposed immortality and denouncing creation. In fact I'd say if you're a true altmer believer its your duty to destroy the world and claim your place amongst the gods.

I think song sword ability was something the Dwemmer had as a form of tonal manipulation. And that's one of the reasons why the Altmur cannot take out the Red guard or conquer Hammerfell.

As always, Mr. Drew, I watch your videos at least twice through as the lore you provide is somewhat (no, a LOT) over my head. However, I enjoy your telling so very much and have come to understand more than I ever have while just "playing" through ES5. I thank you for opening a whole new world for me as I, once again, play my own Dragonborn. I do see things differently now and every time you provide a "telling" for us, I enjoy ES5 just that much more!!! THANK YOU, Kind Sir!!!
Dear Mr. Howard, if you have not been working on this plotline already, please do it now. We have waited long and will wait for more, but this needs to be the focus of VI.
Worshiping Talos is the most important thing you can do to thwart the Thalmor's plans. It's why they are so zealous about rooting it out, they know the power it has to refute their goals
Yeah, and the fact Talos/Tiber Spetim launched the Numidian on them for simply refusing to join his empire. I don’t blame the Altmer for loathing Talos, to them he was nothing but a genocidal maniac.
Omg I love love love this topic of Elder Scrolls lore sooooooo much. Edit: I seriously cannot get past the stunning visual clips in this video either. Just the use of synced visual reference to your storytelling along with clearly numerous ways and games you got them from is incredible. Absolutely transfixing. Edit edit: and by the end of this video I'm blown away even more. Drewmora is a true master artist of storytelling.
"Digital culture" is the level that Elder Scrolls has gotten into. You get so immersed as a player that you are indeed living in a life shared among virtual men and women. Amazing voice, your dragon shouts must stir the skies.
The spectacular footage and editing will ALWAYS get my 👍, but although these vids are always fascinating, they're also highly speculative, which is no bad thing.
The idea for the plot of TES6 is super cool. What if, after we touch the zero stone, we get to meet Auri-El himself? And have a conversation about the events of Skyrim/Dawnguard. I'd love to hear what big dad's thoughts are about naughty Alduweiner. That'd be a great one up to the last installment, I think. We've never come face to face with an Aedra before.
I think I'd be clever if they made the elves ancestors the aureals, not auriel. The aureals have yellow skin, pointed ears, and similar weapons and armor. Not to mention, creating somthing like that's right up sheogoraths alley.
Such a strange coincidence: I didn’t see that this video posted, but I literally just watched the video that you did on FudgeMuppet discussing the 2nd Great War (so many of the same points) last night!
Tom needs to hire all you amazing lore loving folk to make the best elder scrolls games. There is more passion and wonder I'm your videos than the actual games. I come and watch a couple of videos and go into the games knowing more and more immersed. I remmeber playing the games for the first time it was amazing and my favorite. But with no context. Now with all of learned thanks to you and all the colabs your made and stuff I've researched in my own there I do much more pleasure from diving into Tamriel. Thank you
I have LONG thought this since Skyrim came out, I find it a truly TERIFYING prospect of the Thalmor. This a very real cult like threat. THANK YOU for covering this with even more evidence
you make a REALLY good case for a Hammerfell story, but if youre right that means we'll have to continue waiting for an update on Breton culture. Maybe they can add some new Breton stuff in ES6 but if it takes place in Hammerfell, the focus is going to be on the Redguard. Maybe we'll get a Breton tribe in a corner of the map, like how Solstheim is Dunmer. I just really want the Bretons to be developed more
This whole plot line is so incrediblg interesting. I just don't believe Bethesda are going to do it, or if so do it any justice. Least we have AllinAll's take on it.
Would be hilarious if we had an ending in TESVI where the thalmor win, destroy the adamantine tower and the game immediately crashes, doubt it would be hard to pull off for Bethesda
@Drewmora Have you considered the option where The Stormcloaks win their civil war; Instead of The Empire winning and cowardly stepping aside to leave Hammerfell to it’s own fate. Skyrim attains it’s independence from The Empire and makes an Alliance with Hammerfell. Hell, The Empire could “bow out” of Skyrim and encourage the Alliance between Hammerfell and Skyrim. By politically staying Neutral, it could open them up to their own Spy Network to assist Hammerfell in secret. Thus the Nords who drove the Snow Elves into extinction/transformation into the Falmer. Become once again embroiled in a war against a second Mer War.
TES6 is gonna be half in high rock & half in hammerfell (the western portion of both lands) but 30 years after the events of TES5. They confirmed this. But they didn’t confirm what the main questline would be. Think they mentioned something about some cult that was rising and we have to stop em. But over all, yea the Thalmor and their pride will break down reality itself just to get their way. And that in itself is probably what all the daedric princes would love.
So would The white gold tower, the perchance acorn. And the throat of the world all be deactivated already by the start of the Elder Scrolls 6 and we would learn about it through conversation or something? Cuz I can't see the game spanning all four of those territories.
I personally would not want Thalmor as the main antagonist in Elder Scrolls VI. It would feel anticlimactic to tear down a superpower in what, 1 ingame month. I also feel that if this is the true intention of the Thalmor, they seem to act very materialisticly, interested in annexations and waging of war against man instead of just sending their agents to the towers. I would hope for something having more to do with Yokuda's history. Good video nonetheless
The best way they could develop the Thalmor is to have them be a behind-the-scenes overarching antagonist, sort of like the Dark One. Maybe they don't want the main antagonist to succeed either, and sometimes subtly assist you on your quest while always watching. The Thalmor should really meet their defeat in the Summerset Isles game.
Why would you have to defeat them? You could gravely weaken them? I point to Oblivion as proof. The Daedra were the antagonists, and their plot was prevented but they are very much still a villain (usually. Not including a handful).
@@Count.Saruman with Uriel being a constant presence on Arena through Oblivion and Skyrim taking place after a significant time skip I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant as a soft reboot for the franchise, and games V onwards will be their own narrative continuity like games I-IV were. The Thalmor, introduced in Skyrim, could be developed throughout the next games until the "Oblivion" of this narrative arc has the final showdown with them.
Ada Mantia influence or sphere of the gods, Nu Mantia that of the moment, the singularity in the general sense that defies order. Also quite the story of resistance, happy coincidence.
I notice something cyclical in the games released.. Arena was all of Tamriel, Daggerfall had high rock and Hammerfell, then Morrowind, Cyrodiil, Skyrim, But ESO... Returns back to all of Tamriel.. my estimate then aligns with those saying High Rock and Hammerfell (like Daggerfall) for Elder Scrolls 6..

this is probably the most fascinating aspect of the lore, but am i the only one who's fascinated by what Bethesda is plpanning to tell of what happened between Skyrim and ESVI. Between Oblivion and Skyrim we had A LOT happening so it stands to reason that we should expect a lot happening after Skyrim too.
Extremely phenomenal job!!! Thx!!!!
@@D--FENS There are some lovely Thalmor mods, and one of them gives snarky dialogue to sass the "man-mer" Delphine and her stupid plan 😂
I can see it now:
You, the fated hero, breaking out of a Thalmor Interrogation site amongst a prison riot with the help of a disillusioned agent.
Glad to see you here on your own !
Still love those guys but you are the best at these videos I’d say
I hold absolutely no hope nor expectation for ES VI. Unless… unless they hire you or precious few people like you to write for them and to guide them
Yeah, after Starfield, i have little hope remaining for TES6
We love you Drew! Your content and grasp on the lore and understanding of the intricacies of the political and metaphysical machinations of the Aurbis are superb, but better yet, your scripts and clear skill in oration and storytelling is unparalleled. Good work!
That thumb looks awesome. Makes me wonder what to expect from VI.
I didn't know this channel was you at first 😭
I was like " huh this guy sounds a lot like Drew from Fudgemuppet" *looks at channel name* "oh it is Drew from Fudgemuppet!" 🤣
I had one of those dreams where you can see the future. I woke up and came back to this old video to say, you're not wrong. Stormcloaks win. Aldmeri dominion attacks, people set out to sea. Sea travel part and running into sea elves basically guarding the 1st pillar. Something that grants their king .... no spoilers.
But anyways the tower gets destroyed and we go to somewhere above the dreamsleeve. A more ...anuic experience
Another comment, but your narration style and the brilliant combination of cinematic cuts, relevant to the topic, make your channel my favourite TES Lore channel. And I watch most of them. Your videos to me are the most engaging and interesting. Thanks Drew.
You wonderfully bring the elder scrolls universe to life. I've played through Oblivion and Skyrim, but neither could immerse me into the lore like your videos.
That would be a very compelling storyline. If we live to see it... damn you Lorkhan
You know what would be funny? If TES VI took place at the same time as TES V Skyrim.
On the topic of towers, powers and secret knowledge a few things come to mind:
Would the Heart-fortified Tribunal been able to open the Aperture and manipulate the Zero Stone? They seem to have had both divine abilities and the experience with Stone manipulation.
Do Skeleton Key or Mehrunes' Razor have the ability to bypass the "security"? From the lore perspective both items have great inter dimensional powers.
And how could other mystic societies, such as Moth Priests and Psijic Order, attempt to gain knowledge about the Zero Stone.
I think this is spot on. I do hope we get hammerfell and high rock in full not just the illiac bay.
Yes! Sprinkle in some areas of The Reach & Orsinium
I believe their tech for large planets and areas in Starfield will help them create a much bigger map in the next Elder scrolls.
@@OneTwoMark the issue isn't how big they can make the world feel. It's about how big they can make the world whilst still having it feel alive.
So, basically Daggerfall? 🤣@@LandStrider23
So good. Glad you are bringing TES content back.
I've been saying this for years to try and educate fake fans who think the depth of skyrim is "Empire good, stormcloaks racist".
Honestly I think the empire needs to fall for man to rise, it's an old dog whose only trick seems to be abandoning the god protectors of man first Shor then Talos.
The Elder Scrolls VI: Tower Defense, Hammer Time
That sounds like a Max0r description😂
Maybe in a decade when he fully fused with his editing software
Clearly the way to save the world will be to swallow a soul gem.
Parthurnax is the stone for snow throat, Delphine is a thalmor agent
the whole "Thalmor want to unmake the world" thing comes from something Michael Kirkbride wrote AFTER departing from Bethesda.
Ah finally the best part of the fudgemuppet channel centralized all in one location, hail drewmora
woohoo one of my favorite theories, I love your writing Drew! keep it up
I just got a huge promotion at my job so as soon as my money rolls in you have a new patron my friend. I've been binging your work since I first discovered it something like 10 years ago. I'm writing a grim dark high fantasy series and I doubt I'd ever have considered it without watching your content. I can't thank you enough for helping me find something to be passionate about. Keep up the great work brother!
Interested in gifting a fresh poor new player (level 45...just yesterday- here we come Undaunted!)) a Star Orphan Elk for Christmas?
My baby Arcanist is named Iratia Sin'Tiel Sintieve, and you would make her so very happy 🌿 (EU server)
(also just finished most of Elsweir, and got the Hall of the Lunar Champion! The world is just so immersive, every quest line truly feels like an adventure, and the rewards feel so .. rewarding! Love my pet imp/dragon too! And I should have chosen the dog instead of the cat a few levels earlier, but I was scared he would remind me too much of my dog lost last year - still a deep wound.
All this just to say, I'm so glad I decided to choose ESO as my first try at an MMO game, and slowly discover the world, the lore and the community 🎄✨)
Another absolute banger, keep up the great work m8
Your narration is unmatched
I have sorely missed this style of content since it stopped being a regular feature on Fudgemuppet.
This is so good! Keep it coming Drew!
I think song sword ability was something the Dwemmer had as a form of tonal manipulation. And that's one of the reasons why the Altmur cannot take out the Red guard or conquer Hammerfell.
"Once" is one of the most haunting of the many haunting books scattered across Skyrim. An unsolved mystery amongst so many unsolved mysteries...
I would cry tears of joy if the last dragon born became the emperor.
Fantastic as always!
Nick! Thanks so much, dude. Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Drewmora defiantly a force to not mess with. Putting your realm up there with some other Daedric gods I worship, Fudgemuppet and our lord Camel 🐪 😃 🙈. You were always up there anyway this video just confirms why plus other videos too 🎉🎉🎉legend keep at it. I also miss you at Fudgemuppet 😢
I no longer trust Bethesda to make a competent TES game
Keep this up man this lore telling gets me thru work the best place I need an escape
Dear Mr. Howard, if you have not been working on this plotline already, please do it now. We have waited long and will wait for more, but this needs to be the focus of VI.
Great start to November! Thanks Drew!
Love your content man, I could watch TeS stuff forever.
Man Drew these are always so good
This Channel is a blessing 😍
Hermaeus Mora might have an involvement with that line "Is not all knowledge useful"
The White Gold Concordant was weakness of the Empire.
HAIL TALOS AND THE STORMCLOAKS! HAIL HAMMERFELL! HAIL THE ARGONIONS!
An almost 30 minute video to go,
"Ya'll know the bad guys in Skyrim? They gonna be bad guys in the next game too!"
Wow Drew. Much original.
I will definitely support you when I can afford it! 💕
I think I'd be clever if they made the elves ancestors the aureals, not auriel. The aureals have yellow skin, pointed ears, and similar weapons and armor. Not to mention, creating somthing like that's right up sheogoraths alley.
Man I do love me some good lore
Such a strange coincidence: I didn’t see that this video posted, but I literally just watched the video that you did on FudgeMuppet discussing the 2nd Great War (so many of the same points) last night!
Would it be possible for you to give my eulogy? Your narration is top tier 👌
Im guessing youre religious then. I get the thalmor to some degree.
@@brialapoint2608 ha, not really at all no. Just like stories and dark stuff, nothing quite tickles like a doomsday cult lol
and still the wheel keeps turning
you make a REALLY good case for a Hammerfell story, but if youre right that means we'll have to continue waiting for an update on Breton culture. Maybe they can add some new Breton stuff in ES6 but if it takes place in Hammerfell, the focus is going to be on the Redguard. Maybe we'll get a Breton tribe in a corner of the map, like how Solstheim is Dunmer. I just really want the Bretons to be developed more
I like the idea of Bretons being "old english" with knights and castles without the Roman stuff of Cyrodiil
This whole plot line is so incrediblg interesting. I just don't believe Bethesda are going to do it, or if so do it any justice.
Least we have AllinAll's take on it.
This is just an average day on Tamriel, the other day I saw a piss elf trying to clam he was aspect of shor
Dragon born comes out of Dwemer ruins with hundreds of colossal Dwemer war machines annihilates the thalmor and becomes new emperor
I know that I'll listen to this atleast 10 times
They can be the main villain without you beating them meaning the death of there order
Gut feeling that Jyggalag will somehow have grown in power via the Thalmor somehow. They certainly see the world in a certain order
Ada Mantia influence or sphere of the gods, Nu Mantia that of the moment, the singularity in the general sense that defies order. Also quite the story of resistance, happy coincidence.
This is just so dope.
3:59 are these towers actually in game ive never seen em before but that is awesome
I hope this is the story for ES 6. Great lore!
Finally, Drew delves into the Heart of the matter. The Towers, and Existence itself.
To think I was giving a lore lesson on just this last night too, @.@.
Time to channel my inner Pelinal Whitestrake and resume what he started.
I can only hope this plot contains a return of Jeremy Soule.
I have been blessed! Thank you Drewmora 🙏
