Hey Jason, this is one of the best lessons you've ever done. I hope I'm not getting out of line by mentioning this but I'm pretty sure there should be a 6d in the two octave tab. If I'm wrong you can kick my ass. All the best from John in the UK.
Awe man YOU'RE RIGHT! And I PINNED this comment up too for everyone! i always mess at least ONE tab up despite trying to proof read! That notes is in EVERY scale I do here. Grrrr. Nice Catch! NEVER out of line all THANKS!
I have so much pleasure coming back to these exceptional lessons. instead of giving us some likes, you give us the keys to musical discovery and improvisation. Thanks Jason.
Congratulations on the award, bro. I'm so happy for you. You worked your ass off for it. I think it's due to your overall UA-cam presence. Time to bust out the happy dance. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
39 years old been sober since Feb 2019 graduating with a career GPA of 3.833 in Networking Systems Technology. Rather you know it or not you have been a part of this change in my life (well before and after I had a lot of drugged-out practice sessions with your vids LOL). You're an inspiration and a positive influence. Thank You
Thank you Jason. I do appreciate how you teach us HOW to approach playing and not just give a prescription of what to play. Any failure to implement is therefore down to my own laziness. Cheers!
I thank you again Jason for another awesome lesson!! Thank you for making it fun!! I congratulated you a few times already!! But...Congrats again!! YAY!! I am absolutely loving your lessons more and more. I am so appreciative for all you are sharing with us.... Super lessons Jason!! 🙏💓😊🎶🎵
Hey man this is great. I was at a jam the other day , and even though I’ve taught myself to play along with some of other peoples 3 rd position minor blues , it showed me how much I really don’t know about creating my own. It was definitely a wake up call. In the end it brought me here. It’s really interesting and the good thing is , even a dummy like myself can understand the basics of it. Been working with it the last couple of days and made some progress, but definitely much more to learn. Thanks for taking time to make and post this. It’s been extremely helpful.
@@jasonricci yeah mate , it’s been something I’ve been meaning to do but not got around to til now. At the jam the lady singer called a slow blues in Bb. I could have used 2nd on an Eb with the flatted 3draw , but I wanted to try my hand at ( what I thought I knew ) 3rd position. It didn’t work so well. I am thankful for the train wreck though as it’s inspired me to get off my butt and learn some more about it. This video has helped more than you realize. You have no idea how thankful I really am. Not trying to slobber all over your jockstrap or anything ( lol ) just to say thanks for helping me get in the right direction. Respect.
Dude you're fantastic!!! First time listening to you. I've learned so much on this lesson. UR the reall deal as in personality and passion for what you do. You make learning the harp easy. Man much respect!!!
Jay, thanks so much for this great K.I.S.S. video... I really needed this one because I realized I've really been overthinking the mathematics instead of simply pressing the "cruise control" button and letting it flow. I'm also referencing your previous video also here obviously. You RAWK brother!!!
Congratulations Jason on yet another extraordinary milestone in your distinguished life's journey! Great lesson as well! If you ever return to Prescott, AZ, the cigars are on me! ~ Greg Gordon 🎵
Cheers Mooncat..just a quicker whats them.fat.speakers in that amp over your left.shoulder..thanks again for your time.an effort...well.deserved win..love u man x
You'll get it! It's weird having at first having a different hole as home base but only for a while... Learning the major scale in 1st position will eventually open open almost everything!
Thanks again for the great lesson! 3rd position is quickly growing on me, I love the 2 & 3 bends and the flavor of the 6d bending. Would it be possible to have a lesson on what you called “Passing notes”? It may be too simple of a concept, but I don’t think it’s been covered by any of the popular YT lesson makers. Thanks!
Thank you George ! It's a TC electronics Flashback Delay. The rest is my lone wolf pedals all listed in my last pedalboard (shield, break, flat cat n reverb) video.
I'm a guitar player and I am always aware of the notes and scales I am playing but when I pick up a harmonica, I just blow away on it. No idea what notes I'm playing. I know you use C harp for blues in G, 2nd position I think but I don't want to think very hard about it, if I want think I'll play guitar. If I keep blowing long enough I figure I will play something that sounds kinda like the blues. Haven't yet, it just sounds like folk or something. Haven't learned to bend notes I guess.
Yes, I hear this a lot from people who's second instrument is harmonica. They do it for fun and don't want to work at it. That's ok for a while as each key diatonic harmonica is essentially an open tuned instrument. So you're good, nothing actually offensive at least in major keys of course. However if you ever want to play actual melodies outside the major scale or it's corresponding modes, in more than one octave (middle) you will have to begin treating it like any other instrument and yes "think" about and bend notes and more. Blues and especially Jazz may take MORE time to learn well than on your guitar or another instrument as you'll actually be using techniques the instrument was NEVER designed or intended to do... But damn do they sound cool after you get 'em! Keep playing either way and thank you for watching!
You could definitely do that. The tab will naturally be different. But you can hit all the notes all the way up on a regular diatonic , really in ANY position, they'll sound different tanbre wise but there all there somewhere. .
I think you may be talking about the Harmonic Minor Scale. There's a video linked in the description box of this video. Also I give a little demo of it at the end of this one.
@@jasonricci Jason, you are very much mistaken sir. There's this ultra cool cat on youtube with great hair giving a demo of it a few years ago! lol...ua-cam.com/video/KGUHpR7w79U/v-deo.html starts at 3:19
