    It is amazing how many bad videos explaining the usage of an item are around!!! - This video is excellent and should be seen by everybody attempting to explain a product in a video. Thank you for these very practical instructions. I especially like the Velcro bit. :)

    Willie, well done, my friend! I purchased and sold my original session prior to even considering getting the Hero 5 Session. As much of a huge GoPro fan that I am, I couldn't bring myself to really love the Hero 5 Session, but I couldn't find the specific reasons to really want it, and debated the issue until I bought one a few days ago. I am actually enjoying what it can do, and it's full functionality. I am STILL getting used to the idea that it has LINEAR view, lol! So thank you for bringing that up as the primary mode. Very helpful video, however, I am not QUITE sold on the velcro idea, but I'm not afraid to try it, or even see if I can put that to good use. You have a new subscriber!
    All the best in your endeavors,
    Captain Monroe

      Huge thanks Capt Monroe - I think you're going to like the velcro trick! It doesn't work for everything, but in a pinch it's great especially on stationary items, just make sure its strong velcro :) Pumped to have you subscribed!

    Great video and tips. I have used this on my plane and on my Harley now. I used the Capture app when I was flying and it worked great! I was able to start the video when I wanted to and not just start it on the ground. Saves battery and SD card space. I will be putting velcro on mine for sure (right side). Thanks Willie!

    I like the look of the 4k30 without stabilization, not in every situation, but it looks much more life like. You can also remove the fish eye effect in post, so you can have 4k linear.

    Instead of Velcro use a product called Dual Lock. You can get it at Home Depot and the it is much stronger and more stable than standard Velcro. Its basically plastic velcro

    Not sure if you'll be able to answer in time but just found your video so helpful! Thanks
    We're going to a aviation show (blue angels) & hope to capture it by mounting our go pros on our bike helmets so we can just let them run while we watch so as not to fuss with them & miss seeing something with our own eyes.
    Wondering what settings would work best for this & if I might want to slow motion some of it later what setting is best.
    Appreciate your advice

    HI there, great video. I, primarily, use my Go Pro Hero Session 5 and iPhone 6 for most of my filming, as my Nikon D3300 has no viable way for me to have a monitor (that I know of) to see if it is focused or not. Always up for tips and tricks with my GPHS5.

    Hi! Could you answer a question everyone seems to forget: audio quality? Not just file format, resolution an so on, but actual build quality of the mics and how much sound pressure they can take before distorting? That's really important to me since rave parties is one of the odd "action recordings" I love to do...and I also happen to be a sound engineer which unfortunately makes me ridiculously sensitive to crappy audio. (Im not after pristine studio quality of course, but can the mics take loudness without distortion?)

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  7 років тому +1

      Hi Niles, this is an awesome question. I don't know enough about audio to answer these questions though - I do know the mics on the new 5 series GoPros is a lot better than the previous generation, but as far as build quality and sound pressure, I have no idea. If you find out, def let me know, I'm curious now too.

      They are - I had a GoPro with the LCD screen (one of the Hero 4s), but it was just another thing to break (it did) and GoPros for me should be super simple and basic. Love the Hero 5 Session!

    • @dietsam
      @dietsam 7 років тому

      Only thing stopping me from switching over to a session as a main would be external audio options. My Hero 4 Silver is easily (and affordably) rigged up for clean, crisp, in-helmet audio.

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  7 років тому

      Ahhh makes sense. I think the mics on the Hero 5 & Hero 5 session are a natively better than the 4's, but if you have a special setup, that's a whole different story :) What is your setup? Im always curious for GoPro mic setups.

    I was filming time lapse underwater, in a local creek… during spring run-off. I’m in northern Utah. This spring the run off is none existent… but I made the Fatal mistake of taking it out of “the frame”, (Because even another current was fast it was only 5 to 7 inches deep, I put a five pound rock on top of the GoPro, 20 seconds in the filling the time lapse I noticed this tiny little black rectangle roll towards the current get caught in it and down she went…
    I have that Goprosessions5 for one week!
    I’ve had several sessions 4, and the sessions five is by far Hughly superior.
    I wish they would come out with another Sessions sized go pro with built-in stabilization that rivals the Insta 360 RS

    I stuck mine on my motorcycle helmet and took a ride today and loved the video quality-shot in 2.7K and 30 fps and it looked amazing (with image stabilization). Thanks for the tips. A question: Why do the videos record in short spurts? When I went to download them onto my computer there were around 6 videos of roughly the same size although I never turned the cam off during my ride. Is there a setting I can change to record in one long video? Thanks in advance.

    So what special times do you use the fisheye setting? I just bought mine today and am having a hard time figuring out how to use it lol

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  7 років тому +1

      Great question - I use mine if I'm doing something really active and I want to 100% make sure I get everything in the frame. Or, if I just want that fisheye effect, sometimes I think it adds to the shot. Kind of a personal preference though :)

    Is it safe to record with the GoPro if it is plugged to a power source? I have had times when the battery was low but still wanted to be getting footage but was nervous if I could or not. Also, thanks for this video. You answered a couple of other questions I had.

    What's the best setting to take photos with... while you're doing sports? I like using Video+photo because I also like not just video but pictures of the moments of whatever I am playing but the one problem is that the photos are blurry so I don't know what mode I should use to take photos with while GoPro is moving. Or should I just use one of the Photo mode and forget about video?

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  6 років тому

      You have to switch to photo mode for the photos, but you can take frame grabs of 4K video and the quality will be good enough for posting online :)

      Is it the Hero 5? Also linear mode only works with certain resolutions, so double check your settings :)

    Hey mate,
    I'm contemplating to get this together with the mic adapter. Are you still satisfied with it?

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  6 років тому

      Yeah, it's still my go-to for a small camera or action stuff, but I wouldn't use it as a primary camera. Will be really interested to see the results with the mic adapter!

    Very useful vlog, thanks for the tips etc. One question: I was wondering if the 5 Sessions has an accurate battery level indicator or does it suddenly shut down once it's completely discharged? The 'big' plus of the Sessions for me is its compact size, but (sensibly) having to carry a large charger negates the benefits of having such a tiny camera. Thanks.

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  7 років тому

      For me the battery indicator seems pretty accurate, I always have a small portable charger on me just in case and usually keep it plugged in while I'm in transit though.

    Suggestion! You can purchase a power inverter for your car at auto parts store, hardware stores for very little money. Then you can charge the Gopro and battery pack when your on the move! (As a private investigator, thats how I roll. I need to be charged at all times as I'll never know where I'll end up)

    What do you suggest to use to attach the velcro on the camera without risking it getting peeled off?

    • @morewillie
      @morewillie  7 років тому +1

      I use industrial strength so the adhesive is pretty tough, but you could glue it on if you really wanted it to be permanent.
