After 4 months, he has moved up to a YZ65, and the transition has been problem-free. Learning the clutch and gears took no more than a few hours. He measures 130cm or 4.3 ft.
I believe a trials bike is the best way to learn/practice how to ride, no matter your age. Regardless what you get its just fun getting out and riding.

Hey, I am thinking about getting a kx112 or a ttr125le. I am 13 and 5’6 and will mostly be doing trail riding and motocross. I am a beginner and can’t decide what bike to get.
so the KX112 is considered a motocross bike which means its harder to ride and has a taller seat height and also has way more power than the TTR125LE. That doesn't mean you can't learn on the KX112 but its not as easy to learn to ride on versus the TTR125. The downside with the TTR125 is they are heavy and slow. but you can always start out on the TTR and upgrade to the KX112 when you are ready.
My son got second place in a 50 mile enduro on a TRR125LE. He's 14 but only 5'4". Both bikes would be a good starter bike. If you are athletic and competitive I'd recommend the KX112. If you can find a KTM 85 big wheel the frame would fit your size better.
