    The Yamaha is the winner. I have learned an expensive lesson over the years . If it doesn’t have KYB suspension don’t buy the bike.

    My first bike was a 2 stoke YZ125 when I was 14 years old I had a LOT of fun with that bike. My second bike was a Honda 4 stroke 200R. So I am NOT biased either way. That said I would without any hesitation choose the Honda.......

    I love my 2020 FX. I'm working on a dedicated hot start map which appears to have helped over the past weekend as I did 30-40 hot starts without to much issue, it also didn't require opening the throttle nearly as much as previously needed if at all. For reference I've gone -3 across the bottom row of fueling and 0 on ignition. -I've done all of the other recommended fixes. Little bit more testing required as I wasn't riding the bike nearly as hard as I normally would.

      So I did a bit more enduro style riding and it seemed to like it. Normally I shift into neutral and put it into the hot start map before switching off the bike (I've it set to map 2).
      Hot start it and then switch back to my normal map before taking off.
      Hopefully it formats correctly:
      Fuel Injection:
      0 0 0 0
      -1 -1 -1 -1
      -2 -2 -2 -2
      -3 -3 -3 -3
      Ignition:
      -2 -2 -2 -2
      -2 -2 -2 -2
      -1 -1 -1 -1
      0 0 0 0
      Interestingly my bothers 2019 FX has a larger starter motor and its located on the front side of the engine where it's in the airflow and he doesn't have any issues.
      So I wonder if the 2020's have the issue because the starter motor is located on the rear of the engine right next to the start of the header??? -I might have to do some testing.

    I have a 20 fx and a 22 rx. I’ve revalved both and put aftermarket tanks on both. The rx is for sale. I don’t know if I’ll ever sell the fx.

    Wow I can't believe I didn't see this video before I bought my CRF250R. I think I would have made the switch and bought the yamaha instead because you guys are right on point, exactly what your findings are with the Honda is what I've experienced with mine. I just liked And subscribed after watching this first video I see from you guys that was recommended to me by algorithm. Thank you for your review / comparison.

    Just got a 2024fx and I have no regrets. Im coming from a 1999 CR125 so it's a very big difference.

    Honda needs a *6 speed transmission, electric fan kit*, and another model for woods enduro with lights like the WR from Yamaha. Wish they would build a bike like RedMoto offers. The 6 speed makes a huge difference and no sprocket gearing changes can overcome lack of 6 gear.

      As much as I like Hondas, have to agree in everything you said. This CRF 250RX is pretty much an MX bike with an 18 inch wheel rear tire. There is market for that I’m sure, but I want a nice 4 stroke enduro bike with Honda reliability.

      @@rogermty1971 I own a 24 250rx, I put radiator braces, fan kit, g2 throttle tamer, wrap around hand guards, I love it, I finally got my ktm xcf350w back, and i like the honda better in the trails.

    That’s the only complaint I have racing woods with my 23 fx hard to start on a hill for sure just hard to start in general but runs like no other

    The flame outs on the Honda can be fixed by simply turning your idle up. Might not be a 100% fix but it will help.

    Honda RedMoto tank and shrouds are what the bike should come with.
    I couldn’t get over the rigid suspension and frame on the Honda. Even after two revalves.

    I’ve had both bikes in Europe, wr250 and 250rx Red moto version. I used to be Yamaha guy, but jerky low rpm power and absolutely shitty starting, which I couldn’t fix even with the help of dealers, felt so annoying that rx is an easy choice for me. Rx suspension was tweaked only once and it serves now well everywhere from slow rocky terrain to motocross track. The advantages Yamaha seems to have will be outperformed by rx, when you start riding fast: eg better torque on low rpm didn’t matter much, because you anyway you need to rev these small 4-strokes.. If Yamaha could fix the issues, I could try them again

    Make a video of the different dirt bike “maps” the Yamaha app offers 3 different tunes and the option to adjust it. What’s the keefer setting?

      So 250F like these bikes are considered full fledge race bikes, while they are easier to ride then lets say a 450F they still have tons of power and just like you see in motocross a 250F can keep up with 450F bikes. I have been riding for a very very long time and the only place a 450F walks away from a 250F is in long straights, deep sand. I can ride a 250F faster then I can ride a 450F. Yes, getting a 250F is a better idea then getting a 450F but you still need to respect the power of a 250F, I feel like the number 1 goal for dirt biking is to have fun and be safe. You can learn the proper riding technique on any dirt bike but if you get hurt then that means no riding at all. Really its up to you on what you think works best for you. My first full size dirt bike was a CRF250X which is a milder version of these race bikes in the video.

    Came from 2012 ktm 150xc and 2010yz250f before that, got into sxs’s sold the bikes now itching to get back on a bike for 2024 debating between yz250fx or beta 250-300 race edition or ktm or husky 250-300 two strokes. Damnit it’s gonna be tuff choice!!!

    Would definitely like to see how the KTM 250XC-F stacks up to the Yamaha but a huge factor always seems to come back to Yamaha’s out of the box KYB setup.

      Really wanted the beta 390 but the price difference is pretty big honda has always been reliable for me in the past and ktm is up there in price as well they are the closest to me

    But there is no way I would buy a four-stroke for all the known issues between maintaining/repairing a four-stroke and a two-stroke. Two-strokes rule! LOL

      I love two strokes but they cost way more money and time to upkeep. We raced two YZ250Fs, Yz450, and a Wr450 for years. The 250f’s needed a full rebuild about every 18 months. None of the 450’s ever did, none ever had a valve go out of spec, just a few clutches and a hub.
      Our 2T 85’s held up good, our 150R’s held up great, the 125 and 250 smokers were major pia’s. Our CR250R needed p iston and or rings monthly, the KX125 could not stay on track for crank and cylinder problems. One of our friends was sponsored by Kawasaki, they could hardly afford to run the KX125 because the bike was free but they had to pay for parts. You eat two cranks in a month plus a cylinder that’s bad.

    The 250RX is hard to ride when it’s slow. It’s snappy on the throttle.

      @@dirtbikesam true it’s the rider that need to be comfortable on the bike for me I’ve got the 2023 Wr 260 f fully uncorked with the competition ECU and it’s ccu I got the gytr race baffle in the stock exhaust I still need the yz’s air box though I’ve already got about 170 hours on it 5000 km absolutely love this bike it’s nothing like the old wr’s this tuning app is sick the yz has it too for me it’s that 6th gear on logging roads I can hit 130 km with the stock gearing I got another rear sprocket 48 tooth I want to try next year I’ve got to change my tires and sprockets and chain this winter they still have lots of life left to them I just want more toque. The 250 lacks in torque because it revs to 16,000 rpm I love the way she sounds around 12,000 rpm ripping down the logging roads

      @@dirtbikesam I owned a yz250fx. It was dirt bike number 45 or 46 for me. I love the engineering and the design. Hands down the easiest bike to work on, and the most well-thought-out. They are overbuilt like a tank, but they are slow. I would love to try the crf250rx. The KTM 250 is a lot faster for me than the yz250fx. Ultimately, the 350's are the optimal power/weight for me and what I normally ride.
