Hey, adventurers! Sam here from Dirt Bike Sam, welcoming you back to our channel where the dirt roads never end and the adventure never stops. If you're passionate about dirt biking like I am, you're in the right place!
With over 15 years of eating dirt, climbing hills, and exploring the unbeaten path, I've learned a thing or two about what it takes to stay safe and get the most out of this sport. And today, we're diving into something crucial for every rider out there - the best dirt bike helmets on the market.
Why do you need to invest in high-quality dirt bike helmets?
Before we jump into the reviews, let's talk about why a high-quality dirt bike helmet isn't just a good investment-it's a non-negotiable for every rider. When you're out there on the trail, the only thing standing between you and the unpredictable elements is your gear. And trust me, I've had my fair share of close calls.
A high-quality helmet doesn't just protect your head in a fall; it also improves your overall riding experience. Better visibility, comfort, and ventilation mean you can focus on the ride, not the sweat dripping into your eyes or the helmet squeezing your temples.

love this guy
Better to go fast on a 125 than slow on a 450.
Yep
officially a dual sport
So it was 1to 10
Thanks for the video Sam. What if I cant afford a new bike? I am looking at the $2000 - $3000 range so something between 2000 and 2010 model years.
Plenty of options around that price point, what type of riding are you planning on doing?
@@dirtbikesam Mostly open desert and trails. Maybe commute to work on it. I only live 3 miles from my office. So if it's a dual sport kind that works too but not the main purpose
I would agree with everything he said. You can be a Beta, KTM or Yammy fanboy and agree that this was a fair analysis.
I like the Leatt helmets. Lightweight and all their helmets meet the latest 22.06 ece ratings.
I have the Leatt boots and love them
Hello! Do you have any recommendations for affordable bikes that are still good quality? My son wants one, and before I invest in an expensive model, I want to be sure it's something he will enjoy using.
How old is your son?
Whats special/different about the Stark version adapter?
The fender😭
Yep
2025 yz450fx
Haha yeah
I can smell it drom here i miss my dirtbike
😢
I just got a 2006 wr450 and I realize my mistake. It is great condition from marketplace just too big. Would you recommend taking it to a dealership or a private seller to trade? I am looking for either a yz250fx or a wr250. I do have experience with manual quads and have a Sur Ron I’ve had for just over a year. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you
You usually can get a better price selling it private. Yeah both the YZ250FX and a WR250 are solid options the YZ250FX is more of a race bike so keep that in mind
FIRST TIME I RIDE A BIKE IT WAS A 450 COULDNT CLOSE MY HANDS FOR ABOUT A WEEK
Arm PUMP!!!
I can’t find beta at any dealers around me.
Also gotta put price into it ktm runs about 9k Yamaha about 7k
good point
I believe that the best dirtbike to start on is the yammaha ttr125
Solid choice for sure
Man I want one of these to rip around on in the woods near me.. since it illegal nobody is gonna hear me with that lol
I went 23 te150, still got kickstart and then have the other goodies been very happy with it for riding single track!
My arctic ex800 is 37hp 800nm/590lb feet torque. 180ish lbs.
I want to see my bike in mode 3 against the stark
50 year old beginner. 300lbs currently. Rode when I was a kid. I want to ride whatever type of trails and terrain I can find. What would be your suggestion? Thank you.
So are you just going to be trail riding?
@ orv trails in Michigan and Ohio and what ever else I can find. That is really all the options I have at the moment.
@ I wanted to add more info to my below comment. Your video is very helpful but was hoping for a little more insight because of my additional weight. I was about to buy a 2024 WR250F at a discounted price but then discovered a 2024 YZ250FX marked down even more. I’ve learned through your website and this video that both bikes are good “all purpose” bikes if I’m correctly understanding. The Honda 250F and 250RX are available near me also. Thanks again.
@@chadsmith5224 The WR250F is probably a less snappy version of the YZ250FX so I would probably start with that bike unless the deal on the YZ250FX is too good to pass up.
Is there more electric dirt bikes, like gas powered but like actually because I just don’t wanna have to do all the like shifting and all that because I’m just a kid, but I also want something fast
Hello. Can you recommend a smaller bike for a novice rider? I am looking for a 4 stroke motocross bike for my daughter. She has experience riding. She's 17, 5'2", 100pds. She prefers jumps over speed.
The CRF150R however they aren’t super reliable I would go with a YZ85 big wheel
Jj
Sounded like your previous experience with Honda had you already decided against this one. Not hardly a fair comparison
We spent an entire year on the 22 CRF250RX and its a really fun solid bike but we don't like it as much as the YZ....
im 4'7 what do you reccomend?
is a pit bike the same as a trail bike?
Ktm definetly
Good 👍👍👍
Thanks
I bought a 450f thinking I could handle this monster. Woke up and for sell on the market 😂
What did you get instead?
@@dirtbikesam I haven't sold it yet, but I did look up specs on the 250cc and they are about the same size/weight. I'm 5'10 and it's not necessarily the power that I struggle with it's the size and weight of the bike. I might keep the 450 after all, but do you have a smaller bike that you would recommend that is way easier to handle?
Im 5'9 130lb I ride a Crf 150f but really want better suspension and more power. Whats a good step up? I mainly ride trails and hillclimbs but i also hit alot of jumps and sometimes ride the rode and keep it on the pipe a bit and just rip through open sections. Im skinny so cant really man handle a bike and dint really want alot of maintenance. So lost need help
Beta xtrainer
Motorcycles have gotten so expensive.
Thanks for this video helps a lot. I just bought a 2024 YZ 250 FX today very happy.
Excited for you
@ thanks man by any chance can you tell me what’s the blue button by the kill switch
I want something decent that has a clutch and gears any recommendations anyone
Dirt bikes (back in the day) were affordable. Now.... darn.
Wow I can't believe I didn't see this video before I bought my CRF250R. I think I would have made the switch and bought the yamaha instead because you guys are right on point, exactly what your findings are with the Honda is what I've experienced with mine. I just liked And subscribed after watching this first video I see from you guys that was recommended to me by algorithm. Thank you for your review / comparison.
Thanks for the support. The Honda is good just not as good as the Yamaha in my opinion
I’ve had both bikes in Europe, wr250 and 250rx Red moto version. I used to be Yamaha guy, but jerky low rpm power and absolutely shitty starting, which I couldn’t fix even with the help of dealers, felt so annoying that rx is an easy choice for me. Rx suspension was tweaked only once and it serves now well everywhere from slow rocky terrain to motocross track. The advantages Yamaha seems to have will be outperformed by rx, when you start riding fast: eg better torque on low rpm didn’t matter much, because you anyway you need to rev these small 4-strokes.. If Yamaha could fix the issues, I could try them again
Yamaha needs to make a 350.
That would be sweet
I got a Rwarr Mantis, & couldn't be more happy with it, for under $5k it comes faster than most the competitors, that'd you'd need to spend $4k+ in upgrades to match performance, it has real dirtbike rims, custom KKE suspension with 60lb steel internals with more travel, compared to its competitors, is 9.5kw, has a top speed of 55mph & gets there in 4 seconds. Use code: SHMANTIS to save $100
Obviously promoting a over priced KTM. Which in all fairness , dirt bikes have all gotten ridiculously over priced with electronics, starters, mapping, for something you're gonna beat the crap out of in the woods, none of that stuff is needed on a dirt bike.
We sold the KTM and kept the Yamaha
We sold the KTM and kept the Yamaha 🤷🏼
I don't know why the 125 is always referred to as .."1st time riders". Some riders just prefer 125 over a 250
Did your bike leak coolant out the overflow when it was brand new
No, yours ?
I have ridden mx, hare scrambles, and gncc/woods races for over 25yrs.. I have owned and raced approx 15 different bikes of all makes, displacement, along with 2 stroke & 4 stroke, obviously as I started racing in 1992.. When I got back into racing vet/40+, I found I was struggling with too much power & weight.. Rode a friends CR125 built with good custom suspension, OMG, I fell in love again with lightweight bike that loves my style of riding.. After that ride in 2019, I found a barely used 2015 ktm 200.. and used xcw parts to turn it into the 200xcw that I always wished I could buy.. Its fucking amazing, perfect for my 215lb 6ft 1" ass to rip for hours in the woods.. I hate to admit that I prob have over $10k in the bike even after buying it used for $4800.. I'm keeping this one forever, no matter what.
Aww man I wish KTM still made a 200 2T
what mods to make it trail friendly?
We didn’t do any mods but a heavier flywheel weight is what we would do
That looked and sounded awful!!! I honestly would give up d biking if I had to ride a 250 four stroke at altitude in the mtns. Did I hear you say that bike beat a 300 two stroke up the hill. What a joke!!! You completely discredited yourself imo. Will not be watching you ever again. Get real dude!!!!
I found this video because my Beta 390RRS is too powerful for me to learn obstacles, pivot turns, and other hard enduro on. Even on the lower map I find the throttle too sensitive to learn to wheelie and pivot on. Thanks for the free advice! I think I'll look towards the KTM150 XCW to learn these skills on and hopefully be able to transfer those skills to my 390. I love my 390, but I'm really trying to focus on skills. I'd love to try out a Beta X trainer too.
Yeah the Beta Xtrainer in my opinion is a better bike to learn on than the KTM150XCW because of the lower seat height.
The Wr 250f is better then the yz for single track
For my riding style I actually like the YZ250FX better than the WR
@@dirtbikesam true it’s the rider that need to be comfortable on the bike for me I’ve got the 2023 Wr 260 f fully uncorked with the competition ECU and it’s ccu I got the gytr race baffle in the stock exhaust I still need the yz’s air box though I’ve already got about 170 hours on it 5000 km absolutely love this bike it’s nothing like the old wr’s this tuning app is sick the yz has it too for me it’s that 6th gear on logging roads I can hit 130 km with the stock gearing I got another rear sprocket 48 tooth I want to try next year I’ve got to change my tires and sprockets and chain this winter they still have lots of life left to them I just want more toque. The 250 lacks in torque because it revs to 16,000 rpm I love the way she sounds around 12,000 rpm ripping down the logging roads
what are your heights on both owners
Sam is 5’11” and Logan is 5’9”
fyi i am 280lb sadly now. i got a 150 2 stroke and it rides perfect. so any fat adults looking to just ride a 150 is fine. i actually rode my friends 250 4 stroke first and i turned it off it was too much for a beginner. walked it 20ft back to him.
Keep up the good work!
They’re incredibly cool bikes. Currently saving up for this same bike. And I’m excited to drive it
