Good discussion, folks. I used to paint myself all day long too, but to grow my biz, at one point I had to place and pass trust on to other painters on my crew, after teaching them how to do the best job, and make my company look good. You have to let go a bit, and eventually become more of an operations manager rather than rolling walls because you are “short of one painter”. The next level is to become the estimator/manager, focusing on bidding on commercial projects rather than being on the jobsite most of the time. And that is not too hard if you know your pricing, even if you are not good are reading architectural drawings/blueprints.
