The issue is that people are interested in being right and largely unwilling to admit when they are wrong. Many of the loudest, most stubborn doubters were saying he was a fluke after last years incredible run. A full year later, he’s still playing at a very high level and those same doubters are still more interested in being right, so they move the goal posts weekly and they find the most ridiculous reasons to say he isn’t as good as he clearly is. They would rather see him fail so they can say “see, I was right.”

And at this point he's made it to the Super Bowl so now he's basically proven everybody wrong. I'm a Rams fan but the hate is absurd. 113 passer rating, 72.7 QBR, 9.9 yds/attempt in 2023 - all are 1st in NFL. 4-1 career in the playoffs with a 98 passer rating, which puts him in the top 10 all time with Mahomes, Rogers, Bart Starr, Matt Stafford and other greats, and ahead of stars like Montana and Brady. His only playoff loss was due to his having to leave the game in the first quarter with an injury. He looks like a frat boy but he's not the weak link.
He took a over a year to have a bad game. In his biggest game so far, he led his team on the biggest comeback in NFC championship history.

Jimmy G was a good QB, but most great QBs are made in the playoffs. Montana, Mahomes and Brady are the greatest examples. Although he only has one Super Bowl, Matt Stafford probably earned his gold jacket with his 2022 playoff run. BP has a career 98 playoff passer rating with 6 TDS and 2 INTs. JG has a 74 passer rating with 4 TDS and 6 INTs, and to my recollection no comeback wins. BP has already stepped into 49er lore with those two comebacks this year.@@JohnPaul-sh4tu

As a Chiefs fan, you'll like this story. When the Hunts brought their team to KC, my uncle Ike, who ran a local hospital, immediately bought 50 yard line seats. He was a rabid fan all of his life. When he passed away, the Chiefs honored his dying wish. They allowed our family to spread his ashes at the 50 yard line. We all still refer to midfield at Arrowhead as Geraghty grass.

I’m a Vikings fan…. I know. I’m a huge Iowa State fan, and have followed Brock to the niners and have watched his every snap. I knew the second he took over he would be great. I couldn’t care less what these analysts say the stats speak for themselves. Their “Elite” qb’s are all watching the Super Bowl from their living rooms, that speaks volumes.
The best part about all the Haters it won't matter to Purdy because of all his faith. He will continue to perform at a high level due to his work ethic and character. Yes, he'll have some terrible games where you can't believe he threw THAT pass. In the end he'll be in the hall of fame. Go CYCLONES!

I’m a Broncos fan and a big ISU fan myself and said he would be successful in the NFL his sophomore season in college. I am one of the few who truly believed in him all the way!
The hate is unfortunate. Being a huge Iowa State fan, I have seen him at his best and at his worst. No player is perfect. Every QB has their bad games, but Brock has done everything he's been asked to do and he's done it exceedingly well. Brock's best quality is his mental makeup. He doesn't easily get rattled and he turns the page and moves on if he has made a mistake.It's a huge reason the Niners came back against Green Bay and Detroit. His composure is his superpower. Exactly! Being a great quarterback is like being a great golfer, you shake off your last bad shot like it never happened and do everything at the best of your ability. An example is Lamar Jackson, as great as he is, he got rattled in the 4th quarter of their game against Kansas City and ultimately lost. Brock did not get rattled against Detroit and Green Bay even after being down big.

I’m afraid of this Chiefs D on Sunday. They flipped a switch in the playoffs. Brock will need to play within himself. I believe he will stay composed. Now can the Niners D stop the Chiefs offense? @@herrguru4264 Sam Darnold played with the same 49ers as Brock and yet his passer rating was only 85 compared to Brock's 113. Brock's completion percentage was also 9% points higher. Brock's first 2 years' stats are better than Steve Young and Joe Montana's, who played with lots of All-Pros, that's why some people make those comparisons. Honestly, the sample size is too small to make any judgements on Brock, but as a 49er fan, I will take him over any of the mediocre QB's in your list.
I'm a Steelers fan and when i saw Purdy get drafted last i pulled for him and gave all my support for this under-rated player. I just love his passion for the game and his humility in not calling for contract renegotiation.

Purdy has intangibles that many recent first round quarterbacks lack. He has field awareness, and senses pressure, and doesn't bail out early when he feels it. He is an accurate thrower and will take the hit to deliver. He rarely throws " head scratchers" like Danny Dimes or Mac Jones.
Finally, a Purdy video where I learnt something new about him. Props to you man, for doing the research and informing us of something new about him. I’ve seen 10+ videos about Purdy repeating the same information word for word. Good work!

Haters just hate. Doubters just doubt. If you cant give the young man credit for doing his part then youre missing the big picture. He's been in the league for less than 2 years and has dealt with the pressure quite admirably and has earned his ticket to the big dance.
I would say the hate train mainly started from the NFL Scouting Corps. Same way Kurt Warner and Tom Brady early on got lots of flak. The scouts don't like to be wrong even when their evaluation system is dumb and outdated.

Joe Montana basically just said the same thing in an interview. Brady was drafted almost 200 picks in, Purdy drafted as Mr. Irrelevant. So, Joe says just "goes to show you that teams (scouting), the combine are basically meaningless. You won't ever know about a player and whether they can convert to the pro game until you try them." Add Kurt Warner, Warren Moon, and that QB from Boston College, via the CFL, Doug Flutie. The list goes on and on with players in all positions.

If coming back from behind in back to back playoff games isn't enough to prove Purdy is elite, then yeah you're a hater. Even when Purdy wins the Super Bowl MVP, people will still hate him. It's because the coach is good so they downplay him. People think the quarterback is behind the coach plays. However, any other player positions like CMC, Little, RB, doesn't have anything to do with the coach plays. Kind of absurd but that's how it is.
They know that the draft is a crapshoot and the Power5 schools are afraid of the mid level schools and HBCU’s getting more players drafted because that would cause them to lose recruits. I said this for years that the NFL draft is overrated concerning building a championship NFL team. Just because you were great in college isn’t a guarantee that you will be great in the NFL . They are two different games.

I saw his first game in the NFL and his parents were there, when I saw his dad cried that made me think how parents become so emotional to see their kids succeed and become stars and tells them all the work and sacrifices they made taking them to practices and games did really payoff now I’m sure they never really have to work in their life because of the seed they once planted.

I'll be honest when I watched brock in college I did not see him in the nfl, but when I watch him play now he 100% looks like Joe Montana. I don't care who gets mad at that. That calm quick accurate decision making mixed with sneaky athleticism and pocket pressance looks so much like Montana it's eerie. I implore anyone who hears this to just go watch a game with Montana. Not highlights a whole game. There is an aura around purdy that is so reminiscent of Montana.

He scored elite level in the cognitive testing, near last in speed. Recruiters had everything they needed to know he would be a top notch NFL passer. But they forgot what makes a good quarterback. I prefer a qb who is humble, and can help his teammates win. If he can utilize all tools at his disposal he is better than the ones who try to show off and make careless mistakes.
This is by far the best look at Brock and his path to the NFL.
Had he gone to a better program in college, I don't think he'd have had to deal with these lessons until the NFL - and there likely wouldn't be time to get a 2nd chance at it. (that and Saban put the perfect chip on his shoulder by turning him away with "Your arm strength is whatever. Your accuracy is average").

I am a Mountaineer fan. I remember VIVIDLY Brock ripping my heart out. So no this man is a winner and I am very happy for him and wish him nothing but the best. And yes this man is elite. Look at the talent of the other QBs that couldn't do it.

So if one is to believe Cam Newton’s take, there can only be one “game changer” per team, because his definition is that a “GC” is the “best player on either offense or defense”… So who was the game changer during the 80’s? Was it Montana? Rice? Craig? Rathman? Jones? Which one of them was THE “GC?” During the 90’s, Young? Rice? Owens? I would argue that ALL of them were “GC’s” at the same time. I would submit that a true “GC” is a player who can at any time, take over a game, put the team on his shoulders, and make a difference. Also, Brock is playing in the SuperBowl next week. Cam is “retired”. He isn’t wanted on any NFL roster right now. So what does that say about him? Go Niners!

Isn’t it hilarious that we all live in some sort of system. Adapt and overcome is thought of as something coveted in life. However the ability to adapt and overcome is compared to a standard within a system. Obviously the quarterbacks who came after Brady didn’t understand the system. Show me a quarterback who can implement a system that compliments his team and I will show you a consistent winner who can handle the pressure.
Brock Purdy, Kyle Kaepernick, Jimmy Garoppolo, Alex Smith! What do they all have in common? All lead there 49ers to some superbowls and NFC championships games, some won them some lost them! But what do they all have in common! The 49ers, which is a successful franchise, that drafts well, that has a great front office and a good coach! Brock is another QB that the 49ers scheme and all around talent has gotten them to this stage! Brock on any other team is just a QB that might lose his starting job, but put right now Russel Wilson on the 49ers, they might actually win the superbowl vs the Chiefs, Put Lamar or Allen or stafford they’re all coming to win a superbowl, put Brock or Jimmy there, you’ll get there, but they can’t make that play!

Brock Purdy is Brock Purdy; unique in every way, his nonchalant demeanor and cerebral intelligence scares those who have never had it. The former players athletically gifted and primetime pundits, have never seen a young man look so average and be so proficiently great! They are stunned and look like fools.

Everyone harps that it's all Shananahn but Mullens, Beathard, and Lance weren't able to make it happen. Call him a game manager all you want, but that offense runs through Purdy. Trey Lance was supposed to be a "game changing playmaker" type, and the offense looked terrible with him. However, if Trey was putting up numbers anywhere near to Brocks, the media would be having a complete circle jerk over him, but since Brock wasnt a first round pick with high expectations, they just wanna shit on him

Usually the so-called best QBs go to the worse teams. Purdy just had the luck to go to one of rhe best teams in the NFL. He's surrounded by elite talent. A great system helps. The QB isn't expected to do everything plus Purdy has something to prove.
