The rust. Man I feel for you guys in the UK. Here in OZ you would never see that. Good work fixing it but it would be taken off the road here prior to you fixing it. Good job all round mate. Cheers.
Thanks 👍
Great videos and great channel, I am hooked on them since finding them a few weeks ago. As a fiat/alfa enthusiast of this era it seems every video is tailor made for me. I had a silver barchetta, a red alfa 166 3.0 v6 and even a marea 2.0 5 cylinder. This coupé project is great even though I would have dropped the engine and gone for a more comprehensive restoration.
Glad you like them! no engine out due to keeping budget down for the customer. i didnt really need to come out.
Nice too see all the good stuff happening to this car, caught in time with nothing major to worry about.
So many interesting cars need this kind of attention but not many places will do it.
Love alfas, had 2, GT Junior & a Alfasud, (Wow did they rot) Great channel, Safe safe.....
Thanks, you too!
Happy to see the coupe is coming along nicely. Definitely worth the effort when it's finished. The Alfa 4,c sounded really nice, looks great and looks definitely quick. A future classic like the coupe 😁👍
Couldn't agree more!
guess what. Most of the turbo hoses are Made in the UK. 2 Coupes owner here :)
Really enjoy the channel mate, a big big fan of Italians and have been really looking hard for a stock 20v turbo Coupe, feel like they've become even more rare than usual now. Good to watch these videos to gain extra knowledge on them. Keep up the good work, cant wait to see the next episodes 👍
Glad you like them!
Ace to see you at the Auto Italia Italian Car event at Raby Castle today mate, hope you source all the bits for the fiat coupe restoration....got the moonie grey/silver from today and a Vinci LE and portofino 20vt now as donor mule, so I've got a few donor bits if you get really stuck mate lol👍
Lovely Jubbly, turning into a project.
It really is!
Wow, honestly amazed how British cars do rust.... 😱
they sure do
Looking forward to part 4.
it will prob be december now.
A remap on a 1750 turbo. Heaven help the second owner.
Good luck with the restoration ! Please look under the boot floor liner RHS, I suspect you've got some more welding along that seam.
interior is mostly coming out when the welding starts
Did you fit a new drier to the a/c system?....its a service item
Guy on the phone at 11.05 😂
well spotted.
That 5 cylinder sound....almost as sweet as an Alfa V6 😁
Indeed!
Good video Neil 👍🏼. How much did they charge you to refurb the alternator and do you have their contact details please?
lots as it was welded too. but there getting hard to get now.
Love your channel thinking buying a guilieta 1.8 50.000 miles wot to look for
Done a buyers guide on the,.
Great work there Neil.
I would love to know what product you use to treat and stop the rust spreading as I need to treat a couple of areas on my car before they get even worse.
omnicote i use on the rust.
@@ItaliaAutos thank you, I take it that stuff is well proven to stop the rust spread?
@@DevinderAthwal306 I tested in on some rusty brake calipers 3 years ago there still looking good with just a coat of that.
@@ItaliaAutos awesome, thank you.
Today prices of 4C are insane. Around 100k.
Just caught that rust issue before it was fatal, too many great cars are scrapped early due to such as many mechanics refuse (or do not have the skills) to do the work required!
hopefully so.
When's part 4 coming. Looking forward to it! 😁
Work should resume next week.
Oh my word how much rust and corrosion is everywhere, even the engine, here in Romania we have bad weather for aprox 3 months a year, but i don't think i have a spot of rust on the body or even a screw head. Although I think cars sold in the UK just have worse rust protection then to ones sold in mainland Europe IMHO. Good job m8! Keep it up
Climate is everything.
@Antonio Farina I think the humidity, salt is used all over the planet in winter time and
UK salts their roads that is why, poor countries like Romania just use grounded sand which is far better.
UK roads maintain high salt levels even in the summer so when there is humidity and what not it gets into everywhere, its a fucking nightmare I tell you what.
Antonio Farina Central Texas - no salt. Car bodies last forever.
At 17:09 the automatic YT subtitles generator shows [Music][Applause]. 8^) I guess it finds you work quite fascinating. 8^)
haha
Hi Neil, could you please do a tutorial on changing the bottom engine mount on 156/147 jtd, the one that bolts to the subframe? Thank you
dont do tutorials really anymore. sorry.
@@ItaliaAutos When i changed mine, a washer fell out of somewhere, I can't figure out where it went, a quite thick one
I would take my car to you.. But im in another country..
And my 155 has no rust and as origanal 60km
Whats the black rust treatment you use ??
Omnicote.
@@ItaliaAutos Thanks for the info I'll check it out ;)
What brand stone chip are you using?
i vary it. i dont like using the tar like stonechip though.
Italia Autos ahh ok, I need to get some for my Alfa 75
good work, but you got the name wrong, they are called coupe fiat. true.
Amazing how much this car has rusted, I never had so much rust on my Italian cars. Looks like she's been parked up on a beach for a couple of years
the joys of storing car outside in the uk
@@ItaliaAutos I don't see much difference in climate between the UK and over here in the Netherlands. This car must have been driven in a salty winter and not washed very often. And stored when salty.
@@fhwolthuis yep. Common here people rarely wash the underside of there cars.
Is it because of the salt used on the roads in winter?
@@anair70 we have salt too over here but my FIATs and Alfas have never been that bad
Just broken coolant bleed screw..
ouch
Sorted now. I got an aluminium one for a defender it’s done the job great. And four new tyres what a difference now. 👍
Beautiful car, but so much rust on/in it...I would have it stripped from all mechanical parts, cleaned/welded and painted and then put it back together
what would your budget be to do this if paying a garage. :-) thanks for watching.
@@ItaliaAutos I get your point. I am just watching a lot of Arthur Tussik's videos. Check out his channel; watching his craft repairing crashed cars, makes me want to switch profession....jlnow that I think of it, what would the cost be to drive or ship the car to an Eastern European Garage, like Arthur's and have it repaired there?
In Greece, where I currently live, people often drive/ship their vehicles to neighboring countries (Bulgaria, Romania) to tried/tested garages for large/expensive repairs (and to buy used ones)..
.... some local garages have kinda comparative prices, but working with seasonal workers of course...e.g. 450€ for full paint-job metallic colour, including fixing rust spots (but large welding works will set you back for another ~200€ or something).
Maybe worth considering if a car needs extenside welding, which may not be your expertise or not be part of yiur preferred work.
I don't know how things are done in the UK, of course (I've lived/studied there, but have no idea about car repair practices and costs)
@@RandomYTStuff yeah seen several of his videos.
Please replace the regular music with some trap-type beat!!!! Great video.
different music in every video. thanks
I can't deal with the 'coop' thing. Drives me nuts 🤦🏼♂️
Who cares 🤷♂️
@@E46_Lenker because it is a word mispronounced. If he called it a Fa-it, it would be just as ridiculous.
Think you should look up the pronunciation given in the Oxford english dictionary mate. Flippin hate snobs...
@@funnystuffenstufffare you suggesting 'coop' is correct?
@@Trappygit It is a widely accepted pronunciation in english and you will find it in the online oxford dictionary. Not too worried whether it is 'correct' or not.
You are still not wearing safety goggles when spraying !
Not with stone chip. Paint yes.
Geez all the comments on the rust, am I the only one who thinks it isn't that bad for a 20 year old car (an old Fiat car at that) that lived all it's life in the UK!?! Haha! Our climate hates cars! All that said, if you think the rust is bad, have a look at a Mazda mx5 or Ford of the same/similar age, they'll be the same or much worse
I think moated of them are from dryer climates and just don't see what we see every day when working on old cars.
What a hacky job...this is no restauration rather a quick patch up
Very poor condition... :-(
it has been neglected.
