Yeah. After 4/5 years of selling already outdated hardware by the time it came out, they think it's fair to still increase the price $50 to justify an OLED display(and a better stand and ethernet port, wow). And people still give the excuse of "shortages", "OLED is more expensive" as if that justifies it. Nintendo is probably the only company that actually manages to sell a console for a good profit at launch and still have people defend it's high price. I still can't believe we have the same shitty Tegra chip after so long. Like, sure it still plays games good enough and still gets debatably decent ports but it's crazy that we have to justify that when we could have something so so much better. Nintendo's console margins are so much higher than the competition, and people just keep buying it, so they'll just keep doing what they do well which is games. And people will happily overpay for weak outdated hardware to play their games and not realize that they could have something so much better. It's just sad there's no competition in this market, and the Steam Deck likely won't compete with it at all. I'd love to see an actual PSP2, something as good as the original PSP was back in the day, but now. Sadly I don't think we'll have anything close to that anytime soon.

7:30 No Anthony. Screen protector doesn't just protect from scratches and prevent glass shrapnel flying everywhere if you drop it. It actually DOES protect the OLED screen from shattering altogether! The way it does so is it for example gives it more rigidity by effectively doubling the thickness of glass. I haven't had a single phone LCD/OLED break since using screen protectors, when before that some broke even on their first fall! So get a damn screen protector installed right away. And yes a broken screen protector doesn't offer the same protection, so in a situation when the phone bounces off the floor and hits the floor twice or more it can still break on it's first fall if you're really unlucky.

I cannot go back to using my old model anymore, it just feels cheap in every way now, so it sits in my newer dock to act purely as a TV-bound console to play party games. I have never docked my OLED Switch, and I don't really intend to frankly. Just look at the opening menus in dark mode IN PERSON and I don't think you'd ever want to go back to an original switch, let alone the Lite. The screen also feels significantly larger even though the difference really isn't that big. Great video, but it's truly something you need to compare in person to really appreciate the differences. Of course there are alot of technical upgrades I would have liked to see, I really wanted a Switch Pro. At the price difference here though, if you're getting your first Switch there's not much of an argument to be made in favor of the small savings for an original.

I’m getting my son a Switch this Xmas and this has kind of convinced me it’s worth spending the extra on the OLED version.
Anthony stared shy on LINUS and this man has become one of my favorite people to watch. Know why? Cuz hes detailed, smart and HIGHLY skilled! He gives reviews that are real and even mistakes are shown. Even a pro cant be perfect and mistakes happen and we all people! GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!
The one thing Nintendo nails is wringing every last cent out of years-out-of-date hardware.
and they are always fun
But those damn games man they sure know how to make some sick shit.

Would be nice to see how the OLED holds up over time with burn in etc
Bob Wulff (i think that’s how you spell his name) got an early review unit for the switch oled and left it on a very bright scene from breath of the wild for over a week straight without burn in, so we know it isnt super shit, but we have to wait and see long term test results. Despite all the complaints I have with my gen2 lcd Switch, the OLED is worth the 50 bucks extra if you don't already own one.
If the wifi connection, lan connection were greatly improved on the oled, then for sure. Because I hate it how I still get crazy ass Ping on my lcd switch even with a working lan adapter.
From my personal testing with the switch hardware, I'm pretty sure the bad internet connectivity is a problem with the switches operating system, because on Android the wireless connectivity is way better

I use to it destroyed my battery now I'm debating getting a switch OLED so it can be portable
All they had to do was unlock more of the power available and waiting in the SoC. Like an additional performance profile. And then let *developers decide* whether or not to invest the time to support that.
Disappointing :/
Yeah, I only play docked.
@@optimust if they did that some developer would try pushing the limit and come up with a game that can only run on the pro also consoles are normally pushed to the limit already unlike pc which have a bit of wiggle room
@@xathridtech727 To be clear, I am thinking that the system would detect whether or not to engage the "performance plus mode". And perhaps even offer a menu option for the User to choose to engage since it would def shorten battery life.
Its a great pt that they would need to lean conservative like they did with the v1 to ensure consistency. But the current chips in the OLED and redbox v2 switches run at roughly half the wattage of the v1.
So I hoped they would "unlock" even 50% of that to help prop up the more demanding games :/

That's one reason why I wish Nintendo stuck to having an individual handheld and a home console. I love the hybrid quality but it really does take away from game performance. For me, I play switch 60/40 docked and handheld.
@@chazzilla8919 Yeah I really like small handhelds and imo the switch is too big to take around.

@@chazzilla8919 I've brought a psp and gba sp to work, could carry it around all day in a pocket. That's the kind of thing I want to be able to do with handhelds, perhaps that's not very common now.
Frankly, the kickstand and reduced bezels combined obviously with the OLED screen made the purchase worth it to me.
Hard to say if the lifetime of the OLED is that big of an issue. The OLED on the Vita (released 2012, almost 10 years ago) has shown that.
But, you need to remember. Glass is glass, and glass breaks
Ok Jerry
So?
The back plate that covers the cables on the back of the dock, also covers the back vent & makes Switches overheat & bend. Lil fun fact, but I'm glad they made it easier to remove.
8:13 The consoles aren't actually the same size. The Switch OLED is 0.1 inches wider, which makes some accessories, like grips and tight-fit cases, incompatible.
