Those glyphs are actually real runes - I tihnk the "elder futhark" - which would've been used in Scandinavia way back. The writing system was imported into what is now England, and I find it interesting that you confused Wynn (high flag) and Thorn (mid flag), because that confusion is why the latinised versions of those characters were removed from the aphabet in English when we adopted Latin script. When people see things like "Ye olde" etc, the Y in "Ye" is actually just a stylised Thorn, which has a "th" sound. I'll stop now!

Got mine yesterday after preordering a while back and I was kinda shocked at both the fact that it doesn't come with the game and that I failed to notice on the Amazon listing. Luckily I saw it a few days before the release and choked out my wallet for a few more rupees to get the game... damn you Nintendo

Honestly, self deprecating humor is how a lot of normal gamers talk to each other, by displaying that sort of mentality, it subconsciously endears like-minded individuals to them, and it's honestly a smart business practice, even if it's not intended to be for that reason. Razer also does this. It shows a business whose leadership actually understands their market.

True that, although that's not going to be any problem. Github isn't the only way/platform distributing the software needed for transferring/creating roms. And this is a very well know grey zone. Since it is not illegal, when the distributors develop it (officially) for people owning the games. There will always be someone distributing/selling their roms (illegally) to the public. I guess that's why the next nintendo console will be digital only. Encryption/copy protection and so on..

dbrand is actually pretty great, cracked the back glass on my phone a couple years back and instead of replacing it, i just slapped a dbrand skin on it and it's still going strong, no peeling, though the colour is a little worn
I had their case on my s9+ and after about a year the rubber around the edge came apart and wouldn't stay on that well. I ended up getting a refund (in store credit) because they didn't sell the case anymore. I spent that credit on a skin for my galaxy buds/case and it's been on for years It even survived a round through the washer/dryer (even if the buds/case didn't)
@@Bingo1Dog they probably fixed the rubber compoud problem already..have my girp case on S22 for about a year and it still feels as new. I just replaced a skin twice for a mood change :)

Definitely concerned here about D-Brand. Not sure about other countries, but in the US the rule of thumb is if the average person can look at both pieces of artwork and reasonably believe one was an attempted copy of the other, then it’s close enough to be in danger of copyright infringement. That’s a very imprecise test, but I feel pretty safe in saying this skin fails that spectacularly. Hope they have good lawyers and the war chest to fund them with.

For copyright on the design itself, while they may be similar, you can only protect unique elements. Gold, green, and black are colors. A palette is not protectable. So you’re left with the unique designs, which are not the same. Possibly substantially similar, but it would be a hard fight once you force the court to remove color, centralization, all basic geometric shapes/patterns, and all the other non-protectable individual elements.

I usually don't like skin wraps but dbrand does an amazing job. I bought the black plates for my ps5 and wrapped it in their tan leather (real leather btw), their phone skins are amazing as well, you get pieces to cover the whole product and it fits perfectly. It's easy to put on, even to adjust it needed.
The Steam Deck skin actually looks so sick. I've never thought about putting a skin on my Deck but that one looks so nice and would kind of match my official TotK Switch 🤔

can someone explain why use stick locks instead of just cases?? money wise? or am i missing something.
I am keen on getting the Dbrand skin, however I have some faint memory of the adhesive having issues with the first generation switch or something? Does anyone know if this is safe to apply and/of if the issue has been fixed? Also does the skin cover every single spot on the controllers? I have the classic Red and Blue joycons and if there's any bit of color peeking out it would look pretty heinous IMO.

what's funny is because i learned how to read the runes tolkien used for the hobbit (not LoTR) when i was a kid, i could almost immediately read this because it's nearly identical. I saw the Sticklocks on the store last night by absolute chance (I was looking up the LTT backpack for future travel plans), and they look so smart, haven't seen anything like them before! Hope they prove to be popular, I'd love to see them in different colors.
What you said about lawyer artists is very similar with the supermarket Aldi here in the UK. They make their own versions of all the big brand products and have the branding and naming as close as possible without it being sue-able. Although they once went too far and did get sued.

Be careful if you get the full Steam Deck skin, I got a plain green one a few months ago and it was extremely difficult to apply the decals cleanly and evenly.

im actually partial to the actual switch being a solid color with some discreet designs on the back. that way you're switch can still have different paddle colors and not clash. imo it helps keep your system open to more skins/customization.

I've played Zelda series since the first game came out when I was 6 and I actually like when they use the same map, I like to see the changes between last game or what the land used to look like before if it was a prequal etc.

I strugled with decoding the dbrand message because the editor made the cheat sheet slightly off, the symbol for letter n is different on the actual piece of paper that linus had, also J and Y are the same symbol where the real paper had U and Y with the same symbols not J and Y
It's because these "symbols" are actual norse runes, and don't necessarily have a direct translation to english
Same here, the cheat sheet Linus has is not the same as the one the editor added in. The "I" rune is not no the cheat sheet we have.
N is also wrong.

Sometimes you just want that nice console skin and have a digital license anyway, or stores in the future might like not having items fused together after the popularity has run its course. Zelda in particular is probably not going to have that problem though.
