Thank you for the advice. Would you say the same thing to older unmarried people. I"m really fucking up with my chances of a good suitor if I go get a degree. And I won't even do Phd, probably masters. My chances of getting into an excellent institution is laughable. My only solace is that I'm in a high paying industry that gives me more money than the average salary in Europe for the same job.

I live and work in the USA and presently support and guide someone who remains unemployed after earning an MS in industrial engineering from a reputed US university. Getting an MS is excellent, yet the skills one obtains from it need to be augmented through Networking with Alumni, Soft skills obtained during the MS, Confidence during the job hunt, Internships even if they do not pay at all, and taking a 10-year payback approach, and a career transformation mentality to the MS, as opposed to getting my money back in 2-years mindset that adds to the stress.

For eg, those who were really skilled and got laid off they are still doing well some got even better jobs, some started their own business so they just took it as opportunity and the people who actually didn't saw any layoff/recession majorly are the ones talking much around recession.

I have been residing in the USA for over 10 years and currently hold a Green Card. I work in a mid-level management position at a leading technology firm. If you were to ask me in 2024+, I strongly advise against coming to the USA for a career in computer science/IT. Job opportunities are increasingly shifting towards India, particularly in offshore positions. Currently, there are graduates from prestigious institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley seeking employment in the USA, leading to intense competition. Additionally, an interesting observation is that my American boss has offered me a promotion if I recruit individuals in India and form a team based there, as it offers a significantly better return on investment.

Both of you have to see the forest for the trees. You both are living is the US long enough to understand this. It is a capitalist country so policies are revolved around money, finance etc. You have to understand whether it is tacit or tactical reasons behind bubble bursts. They all happened for reasons. Try to find reasons why US Govt wants a recession in the country when things are looking good in general. Why FED is sticking with 2% inflation. Big IT companies laid off employees even though their Financial statements were strong. Is someone asking them to do so? Has salary hike demands by IT employees crossing the limit? Has other non tech professions suffered? Young generation from non tech finding difficult to survive? Is manufacturing making a come back to the US? Find you answers and planthe future accordingly. Just remember cash is the king for next few years for sure so invest wisely.
I always think scientists, Phds, MBAs, bachelors etc educated people are nothing but working class labour required to run businesses owned by shrewd people.

I am currently an undergrad here, and to be honest I would say making connections as Indian is the easiest way. Right now I am in Phi Theta Kappa in my college. I easily have a large number of connections where I get into colleges like NYU, NJIT, and Rutgers. But man the main thing is I play D3 soccer and I made very much connection because of soccer. Then he did his p h d in Polymer signs in w state University of michigan. Most smartest down-to-earth person I came to know in my life. He always says it's not important which University or college you go name has nothing to do with it. Grow yourself. That's all matters.. When he was starting, he was teaching also and he did receive from student as a best teacher Award. Which recommended by the student I believe it did twice. He passed over five years ago with a blood cancer. And I see he work till the end. 1 week before he passed over his job. Working from home company was great with him because he was dead genius. And sometimes you're lucky to find that kind of company and engineering that they're also nice.

I don't think INDIANS get a job in the USA. We were batch of 10 INDIANS, only 1 got a job, rest all went back to INDIA.
Better not to come to the USA. Not worth it

I/m surprised he being an MBA scholar doesn't see this.
    The US economy is dwindling.
With decreasing sell of US treasury bills, and recently 30 year US treasury bond yield going unsold, the USD's value is going down.
More and more businesses are switching their bases to India and other Asian countries and targeting clients more in and around South East Asia and Middle East and this could be one of the reasons for mass lay offs and no new hiring.
Also, with rising multi-currency/bilateral trading currencies/deals increasing globally,
the difficult task for the US is that even if America brings industries home, then the entire pay-scale to the salary value has to be reset and be brought down to cover expenses along with massive job cuts.
Add to this, the cut-offs in even benefits.
Thinks are looking bleak for the US, as of now.
You'd be surprised there are already so many Westerners and US citizens of Indian origins who have started "hunting down real estates/properties/land" in India and the South-East Asia .

AFAIK foreign students are only allowed to work on campus in the US that does not displace an LPR or a citizen so why are you talking about the overall job market there as if you even have a right to apply outside of this restriction?

      Why?

    • @Ashish-no5ys
      @Ashish-no5ys Рік тому +1

@@steelbubble1921 Because the entire dicourse of the west being better than india is predicated upon the strength of dollar being the reserve currency of the world. In the next decade the dollar will no longer be the reserve currency of the world and when that happens there wouldnt be much incentives for indians to go and settle in the west. So film culture in bollywood who started basing their movies in the west and people like singh in USA and others who through their youtube videos have made a image of the west as some utopian and aspirational land will all come crashing down. But before the crash happens things would get a lot worse for westerners, economy wise. In the next decade or even earlier NRI's would start moving to india and settle here. The west is a civilization in a decline and the east on contrary is a ascending power like the east was for more than 5000 years with india being the center. Knowledge always flowed from east to the west and this is what the world will be moving towards in the next decade.
