Estepario is an absolute unit of a drummer and nothing should taken away from him. Both are incredible musicians and I think we can all agree we all look up to them in a musical sense

The version of Stepario sounded good for me, there are some fills that haven't sounded so good but in general it's a wonderful interpretation of Eloy's work on that song. BTW I've really liked the cowbell. For me this version is not so intense as Eloy's but it's very well performed By El Stepario Siberiano.

He's a great studio drummer and is very tiktok/shorts video kinda guy, trigger happy (robotic drums, no feel) and kinda boring in a lot of ways. I do love a lot of his playing and his covers, but he his live playing is nowhere near as good as his very polished studio playing. Eloy is speed, power, technique, control, groove, flow, creativity, natural rhythm, and so on. He's the undisputed king of metal drumming right now. And his video was recorded with a single mic.
Eloy's ghost notes are gold, I've lost faith in slipknot since a decade now. This guy made me think about it again, I love his live performance and i'm so happy to listen to good old slipknot songs again because of him
In music, there should never be a VS when it comes to artists and how they paint their picture. As fans (and you can tell by the comments) we all have different opinions on what we enjoy. Eloy has power for days on end, and it looks like he is using every fiber in his body to play. On the other end, EES has power yet looks effortless when he is playing. Which comes down to technique and wrist ability. I wouldn't dare say one is "better" than the other for this simple fact that I can't play as good as either of them. Both are equally impressive in their ability, and I am just glad I have the ability to enjoy watching two great musicians do what they do.

I think they both deserve to be in a conversation of all time greats, but not necessarily compared to one another. They both prefer metal, but they’re just so different in their styles.
As i always say and Estepario fans freak out when they hear it: Eloy is much more musical than Estepario, he adds little/short grooves with the double kick in some parts of the songs, on this song Eloy mimics the "six, six, six" on the crash cymbal...etc while Estepario sounds too robotic like he's playing just a straight beat with no dynamics. It sounds like those drum programs for PC you put a song file on and the drums play the song by itself.😂 (im a guitarist btw) Look the difference in groove: Eloy: 11:21 - 11:41 Estepario: 21:15 - 21:35
Agreed. Eloy also has a lot of background in latin jazz and that adds to his creativity. Siberiano is a great drummer no doubt but hes just not quite as improv creative. Basically, (this will prob anger the Siberiano fans but 🤷♂️) Eloy is a musician, Siberiano is a drummer. Both great but the creativity and improv ability is the difference. As a drummer myself though I do like Siberiano's drum setup more. I try to keep my set minimal and low sitting.

Eloy has the precision that no drummer in the world has. Groove and precision, using only Yamaha's EAD10, this justifies some of why it simply delivers the best live show you can see. Estepario is a horse, his performance is at an absurd level, but recording a drum line like that in the studio gives room for possible edits, sometimes he sounds very artificial
Put the same audio capture conditions in place, and you'll see that the estapario playing live wouldn't have anywhere near the quality of the eloy. This is evident from the way he plays the double bass drums, how the sound comes out, and how exhausted he is in those controlled conditions.

There is a huge difference between the two: one of them has been maintaining the same technical level and intensity for almost 20 years, playing every night around the world, facing highways, flights, and all types of shit that the road provides. The other plays in the studio. Eloy is on another level above 99% of high performance drummers.
Both are great at the craft. Eloy's just way more organic and groovy. He also feels heavier. Estepario feels a too linear on his chops which are amazing of course. But Eloy's using different subdivisions and groupings. It's just on a diff tier.
I keep seeing the "1 microphone" set of comments. Eloy's kit, if only mic'd up with the single overhead mic, means that there is a lot of spit and polish during Post. Not saying anything was added or whatnot. Eloy doesn't need to do that shit. But I am listening to this in my studio room on a set of pretty nice monitors with a VERY clean power amp. His kit sounds amazing, articulate, separate, clear, and well defined. It's impossible to get that sort of "thump" from the bass drums with a single overhead. It's either a play-along to a previously recorded track on a triggered or beautifully mic'd kit or as mentioned, post production polish. One overhead microphone DID NOT pick up all of that action, that articulately. I think both dudes are serious drummers. The air is very thin up there where their talent level resides. Possibly 2 of the best in world at the moment.
If you don't believe it, you can see other videos where the microphone appears, what happens is that it is recording it in a special room for drums, where with a single microphone it captures all the clean sound, and you see the live recordings, many times they are captured from the natural microphone and not from the sound desk, Example of Jay and Esperario's recordings, 90% of the triggers sound, almost like electronic drums, but Eloy does not use any trigger live, nor in the studio
Estepario's version was kinda sounds less intense and less heavy. 14:48 he also chose to start the double bass so early that it makes the actual double bass solo less impactful and more of just a background noise that kept going. 15:15 he also removed the pauses. same at 15:57. these pauses are like the signature style of this song.
The Siberian Steppe is still in its infancy, compared to Eloy, The Steppe plays with 5 pieces of drums less, obviously Eloy is better and knows how to do the job as it should be.

They, and most metal drummers, are HEAVILY influenced by Joey Jordison. Joey is easily the greatest of all time in the metal world. Not because he was the best player but because he’s easily the most influential to the drummers of today. Anyone born in the 90s drums in metal and loves Joey. Find me one person who doesn’t look up to Joey as a drummer who’s in metal

They both have grooves you can't argue with that. Eloy is heavier metal; Jorge is groove oriented. Both are heavy hitters but Eloy uses the power to groove, Jorge can do that with one hand. You choose lol
to me the diference is in the groove, that is audible, and the power you can also hear, eloy puts more groove and power to the same song. estepario is flawless no doubt but there is an audible difference in the groove.

Both are incredible, but keep in mind, El Estepario isn't using a complete kit like Eloy is. Of course it's going to sound different. IMO give El Estepario the same kit as Eloy and they'll be on par. Both hard hitters, both have incredible timing.
One thing is certain, El Siberiano is the best in short performances, but live, where technique, resistance and precision are needed, the best is Eloy Casagrande!
I hope El Estepario will join a big metal band someday. He is insanely talented but still needs a bit more experience and to ‘get out there’. Being an internet sensation can only get you so far, and I’m sure he doesn’t want to be labelled in the industry as “that TikTok guy”.
Ive listened to both performances multiple times. I love these guys, amazing drummers! Both are powerhouses! IMO, I feel like Estepario is the cleaner, more precise, and possibly faster with his sticks, he’s also playing on a smaller kit. I think he sounds better at multiple types of music. I think Eloy is even more powerful, his foot work is faster, his sound from his kit (which is larger) is much better, for metal as it doesn’t sound so clean/precise. He doesn’t seem to tire, so better stamina. Idk I just feel like Eloy takes the edge on closer sounding like Slipknot
Eloy grooves more, El Este is more snappy. I can't tell who's better, because it all comes down to personal taste. Both these guys are insanely good drummers.

I think the key difference between them is in their approach to drumming. Estapario has said (though this may have changed recently) that he sole focus was on being the best drummer he can be. Not a musician. Eloy had been a musician all along. I don't know if Eloy is as diversified as Estapario or not, but Estapario has been focused on learning as much about drums as he can. Eloy has been a professional his whole career, and while he is most likely diverse in what he can play, I doubt he focused on that as much as Estapario. It is an apples to oranges comparison, in my opinion. Their kits alone display this, I think. Estapario does so much with so little. Eloy truly demonstrates mastery over his much larger kit and uses it all. But imagine if Estapario used a kit like Eloys and got out of it what he does with his minimal kit. I think technically, Estapario is the better drummer, and Eloy is the better musician. My opinion as someone who does not play drums, so take it with a grain of salt.

In my opinion they cannot be compared. 1- Eloy is a professional drummer when he records that cover. He is more faithful to the original because UA-cam is just a means to reach audiences who would not see him at concerts. 2- At the end of the Estepario video there is already a link to another whose title is Eloy Casagrande the best metal drummer. In addition, he does depend on UA-cam and is dedicated to giving more spectacle, changing parts of the original song
As a drummer , who has been a fan of Eloy For over 15 years and I love El Estepario. One is a serious musician, that pays respect to the music without coffee cups In one hand and joints in the other. I see the novelty in playing with one hand and everything and he's stupid good but what band is he in? I'm about music not about circus tricks. Even those circus tricks get likes and comments.
Was in Saratoga (3 years), is now in 2 bands The Cost and about to tour with Residente. He gimmicks on youtube yes but shows mad respect for other drummers, even stating Eloy is the best metal drummer in the world. When he plays with bands he doesn't gimmick and plays his part. I would say he is a serious musician who does like to have fun

Eloy is on another level above 99% of high performance drummers.
Both are great at the craft. Eloy's just way more organic and groovy. He also feels heavier. Estepario feels a too linear on his chops which are amazing of course. But Eloy's using different subdivisions and groupings. It's just on a diff tier.
They are both masters!! Harsh critiques on either are a ridiculous.
I keep seeing the "1 microphone" set of comments. Eloy's kit, if only mic'd up with the single overhead mic, means that there is a lot of spit and polish during Post. Not saying anything was added or whatnot. Eloy doesn't need to do that shit. But I am listening to this in my studio room on a set of pretty nice monitors with a VERY clean power amp. His kit sounds amazing, articulate, separate, clear, and well defined. It's impossible to get that sort of "thump" from the bass drums with a single overhead. It's either a play-along to a previously recorded track on a triggered or beautifully mic'd kit or as mentioned, post production polish. One overhead microphone DID NOT pick up all of that action, that articulately.
I think both dudes are serious drummers. The air is very thin up there where their talent level resides. Possibly 2 of the best in world at the moment.
If you don't believe it, you can see other videos where the microphone appears, what happens is that it is recording it in a special room for drums, where with a single microphone it captures all the clean sound, and you see the live recordings, many times they are captured from the natural microphone and not from the sound desk, Example of Jay and Esperario's recordings, 90% of the triggers sound, almost like electronic drums, but Eloy does not use any trigger live, nor in the studio

Estepario's version was kinda sounds less intense and less heavy.
14:48 he also chose to start the double bass so early that it makes the actual double bass solo less impactful and more of just a background noise that kept going.
15:15 he also removed the pauses. same at 15:57. these pauses are like the signature style of this song.
Sitting in the room live with each would be an entirely different experience both sound and feel. Videos can't capture that.

The Siberian Steppe is still in its infancy, compared to Eloy, The Steppe plays with 5 pieces of drums less, obviously Eloy is better and knows how to do the job as it should be.
Eloy gave an album quality performance, I enjoyed watching el estepario way more.

They, and most metal drummers, are HEAVILY influenced by Joey Jordison. Joey is easily the greatest of all time in the metal world. Not because he was the best player but because he’s easily the most influential to the drummers of today. Anyone born in the 90s drums in metal and loves Joey. Find me one person who doesn’t look up to Joey as a drummer who’s in metal

They both have grooves you can't argue with that. Eloy is heavier metal; Jorge is groove oriented. Both are heavy hitters but Eloy uses the power to groove, Jorge can do that with one hand. You choose lol

to me the diference is in the groove, that is audible, and the power you can also hear, eloy puts more groove and power to the same song. estepario is flawless no doubt but there is an audible difference in the groove.

Both are incredible, but keep in mind, El Estepario isn't using a complete kit like Eloy is. Of course it's going to sound different. IMO give El Estepario the same kit as Eloy and they'll be on par. Both hard hitters, both have incredible timing.
El espeatario did a reaction to Eloy's version of this awhile back stating clearly that in his opinion Eloy is the best metal drummer out there period
One thing is certain, El Siberiano is the best in short performances, but live, where technique, resistance and precision are needed, the best is Eloy Casagrande!
I hope El Estepario will join a big metal band someday. He is insanely talented but still needs a bit more experience and to ‘get out there’. Being an internet sensation can only get you so far, and I’m sure he doesn’t want to be labelled in the industry as “that TikTok guy”.

How people build differently
Ive listened to both performances multiple times. I love these guys, amazing drummers! Both are powerhouses! IMO, I feel like Estepario is the cleaner, more precise, and possibly faster with his sticks, he’s also playing on a smaller kit. I think he sounds better at multiple types of music. I think Eloy is even more powerful, his foot work is faster, his sound from his kit (which is larger) is much better, for metal as it doesn’t sound so clean/precise. He doesn’t seem to tire, so better stamina. Idk I just feel like Eloy takes the edge on closer sounding like Slipknot
Eloy grooves more, El Este is more snappy. I can't tell who's better, because it all comes down to personal taste. Both these guys are insanely good drummers.

why would him being in slipknot matter at all? I loved slipknot as a kid... i dont really care much for them now. I just thought eloy's version fit the song better. both phenomenal drummers either way.
They both are beast. As far as drumming they both have good plays that Benefit each drummer. But in all honesty of course Eloy is going to be on his game he is playing with the band.. The reason I pick el Siberiano he is the very reason I'm back into heavy rock. In 20 years.and if it wasn't for him would have never listened to slipnot. Now because of him and my love for drumming I would have probably stayed with the not so heavy music. Now I'm bacy
Eloy goes with the pace of the song and makes it shine a little better. Esteparios take is more experimental. Both drummers are super talented.

They're both amazing but the thing that stands out to me is that El's upper body is so relaxed compared to Eloy while playing.

I think the key difference between them is in their approach to drumming. Estapario has said (though this may have changed recently) that he sole focus was on being the best drummer he can be. Not a musician. Eloy had been a musician all along. I don't know if Eloy is as diversified as Estapario or not, but Estapario has been focused on learning as much about drums as he can. Eloy has been a professional his whole career, and while he is most likely diverse in what he can play, I doubt he focused on that as much as Estapario. It is an apples to oranges comparison, in my opinion. Their kits alone display this, I think. Estapario does so much with so little. Eloy truly demonstrates mastery over his much larger kit and uses it all. But imagine if Estapario used a kit like Eloys and got out of it what he does with his minimal kit. I think technically, Estapario is the better drummer, and Eloy is the better musician. My opinion as someone who does not play drums, so take it with a grain of salt.

In my opinion they cannot be compared. 1- Eloy is a professional drummer when he records that cover. He is more faithful to the original because UA-cam is just a means to reach audiences who would not see him at concerts. 2- At the end of the Estepario video there is already a link to another whose title is Eloy Casagrande the best metal drummer. In addition, he does depend on UA-cam and is dedicated to giving more spectacle, changing parts of the original song
As a drummer , who has been a fan of Eloy For over 15 years and I love El Estepario. One is a serious musician, that pays respect to the music without coffee cups In one hand and joints in the other. I see the novelty in playing with one hand and everything and he's stupid good but what band is he in? I'm about music not about circus tricks. Even those circus tricks get likes and comments.
Was in Saratoga (3 years), is now in 2 bands The Cost and about to tour with Residente. He gimmicks on youtube yes but shows mad respect for other drummers, even stating Eloy is the best metal drummer in the world. When he plays with bands he doesn't gimmick and plays his part. I would say he is a serious musician who does like to have fun

El Estepario is a generational talent. Everybody else is looking up. No offense to these other amazing drummers, but they are not hitting things as tight. It is his world and we are all living in it.
Agreed with you here. Yeah, he does have triggered drums. EES is a great drummer no doubt. Eloy is another level. It felt that EES's version was missing something

El estepario is an amazing drummer, one of the best in this era. but drumming for a Slipknot song, it's Eloy man. Eloy being in Slipknot really got me excited. That excitement left when jay came.
