Some of the best drummers you've never heard of are session musicians and tour musicians that are in demand for music artists around the world.
Getting hired by any well paying music artist is a plus. Never a minus.

I remember having Tony Royster Jr on video loop when I ran the drum department at Guitar Center Arlington TX around 1999 or 2000. People would walk in and draws would drop watching this 9 year old kill it. Congrats on the new gig!

I've seen residente live in a festival. Of course I knew his music, but when I saw his band live I was amazed by the level of music of all the band members, It really was top level.

Estepario is fucking amazing, but his style probably wouldn't fit with per se, something more jazzy oriented for example. I'm actually surprised Resi chose him considering Resi does not cover songs front to end with blast beats and 200 bpm double kicks, but I'm still excited regardless. Really dope
There are some amazing "UA-cam shredders" but they can never ever work in a band cus of bad attitude, no actual songwriting skills, and bad attitude.

When i hear you speak, it's clear how humble you are. As an extension of that, it makes sense how you get the motivation for self improvement on the drums (and I'm sure in your personal life also). I've played since i was 5 and im 29 now. It's clear i didn't practice enough. I'm good but I haven't had the self discipline to become anything special. OMG that Tony Royster jr video was so viral back then.. I was just a teenager when i first saw it. Thomas I knew him few years back only from Fever 333
I was at that Modern Drummer festival in the 90s when Tony Royster was 12. His performance was really incredible. Everyone in the audience was a drummer, and we all knew it was over after seeing him play.
If you get a time, please check out the band duskWalker the song cripple to the core I think it'd be cool if he did a cover of that. Like to see that. Such a good tune

It is a great opportunity for him to gather that international experience and it is a wise decision to take it. He will be able to apply that knowledge to its own project expansion in the future or even other bands more aligned to his style. It is clear. Wise decision and very much deserved.

I saw Tony Royster as a nine year old. He totally blew me away with his chops! He was at a Guitar Center event in Sacramento and played with Dennis Chambers during Chambers set.

I heard of Residente before when they played their song "Guerra" on Austin City Limits. They are a fantastic band, full of love and respect for the world and all who travel in it. My friends and I are huge fans. As a music listener first, and a musician second, I only ask that you use the hi-hat as your main go to, then the Tom’s for the crescendo. You are possibly the best drummer I’ve ever seen, just want you to lock into the background, then kill the giant when needed. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
I met Tony during the filming of The Evolution of Tony Royster jr. At DW. He and Terry Bozzio were so down to earth. Amazing drummers. Words can’t express.
I honestly thought it was a mislead, and your spot on cover of Everlong was the real audition.
Josh Freese is locked into Taylor’s seat for as long as he wants. But it’s fun to think about ees drumming for anybody or everybody. The vibe he generates is incredible
@@joker14n sure, but Freese has long been a utility player- super skilled and versatile, and able to drop in and play whatever is needed, which has traditionally meant he's moved around quite a bit. The idea that after a year or two of touring he might want to move on isn't outside possibility.

That would have been amazing. I'm happy he's excited, but personally, I'm disappointed. I don't find Residente at all compelling. There's plenty of great musicianship in some of their live performances, but the tracks themselves and their videos are not memorable in the least, and it is not a language barrier issue.
And I'm sorry, but the man advocated for the release of a known criminal and likely terrorist, who amongst other things, threatened to blow up a nuclear reactor. He's no hero to me or anyone else who knows the history of FALN's activities in the United States.

Thomas Prigden has amazing dynamic control. Those fluid, musical fills. He's spent some time listening to the Big Band guys, like Buddy Rich for sure.
