You say your list may not be complete, but I couldn't have made a better video myself. I've had cats for 40 years and have been in cat rescue for 30. Your list is 5-Star! LOVE that you feed on a flat dish to avoid whisker stress. You got this!!! 💖 (our big orange kitty Buddy loves the blues. This music had him come right up)
Wonderful to see what a happy, fun life Cody is enjoying. No wonder he's so playful. Also nice to note that he's using his elegant (relatively) new fountain.
Cody and Laura have bonded all right. How sweet they look together. Your advice about cats' possible health issues is spot on. It is heartbreaking to realize they must have been in considerable pain, and kept a stiff upper lip all the time. I hope that some day pet cats and their humans will evolve to a point where cats realize we want nothing more than helping them and we can be trusted not to abuse our knowledge of their health issues.
Cody is so beautiful. And can't believe how grown up Laura is! Love the water fountain. We have a male cat and a huge female pyranees in the house. She sheds a lot and the water bowl constantly gets hair in it. I've had cats my entire life but never thought of a fountain for the water. Lol. Thanks for the info vid. Old dogs can learn new tricks. God bless you all ❤️🙏🤗
Cat entertainment: The box it comes in. Stringy toys. bottle caps from soda...not the metal ones, plastic. Bouncy balls. Your couch :/. A second cat can really help if they get on well. They do zoomies...sometimes all night laughs. I so love Cody. What a gorgeous baby. Nice fountain!
My cats favorite toys to this day; after 17 years- a ball of aluminum foil(small size), bottle caps from either water or beer/glass top bottles, a box-ANY box, and brown paper bags

This is a really helpful video for new cat owners! Especially the part about giving cats some space when they want some alone time. It’s so exciting when you first get a kitty and want to spend a lot of time with them…but they may want a break from you so don’t be discouraged by this behavior ❤️
Oh I love your educational videos!! So well made and always a source of new information! Also the close-ups of Cody while you and Laura are petting him, simply adorable!! 😻😻😻
Absolutely a must see video for new cat parents, or even for those who are not so new. Very good advice... especially the reminder of how cats often hide it when they are ill or injured. The cuddle time scene was adorable. Laura has turned into a lovely young lady, and obviously a big time cat 😺 lover. Awesome video....thank you for sharing. Willie says hello! 💗🐈⬛🐾🐾
Good advice is always appreciated. I noticed how Laura has grown into a lovely young lady. This video was a nice treat after shovelling out over 2 feet of snow! (Eastcoast USA). Hope you all doing well. Much love to Cody family, Michaela 🐈 🧡
This is not only a video of a sweet loving kitty, but a very smart, helpful & intelligent video! (👍 to the vet part)😼 All our love to the Cody/Alvi clan💕💕 P.S. production was well done!
Wow!!!!! This video is a real must to have in mind for your cat! All the 10 points are soooo correct and wise. For example although I provide a lot of drink water places for my cats, I didn't know that water place has to be away from food place. Great tips to enhance feline general knowledge! Dear Humans you're always the best! Kisses from my cat parade and Lex the dog to you and to super Cody cat!!!!!!

4:17 - grass is very important for cats. When our cat was just a kitten we were dumb enough not to know about it. We thought: cats are carnivorous animals, so they need meat and fish. Also everybody knows that cats like dairy products like cheese or sour cream which is very popular in Russia. But grass? They are not goats. Why will they need grass? The cat itself taught us about it. I grew a bunch of fir-trees from cone seeds for myself (I always wanted a living fir-tree at home), the cat found them and ate all of them in one go. They were still very young and looked like grass.
Great video! Cats do need affection and thrive/will reward you for it. We do have water bowls in several places, but I never heard of feeding separately from the water bowl. Do you know the reason (or just their preference?)
Most cats will drink water anyway, also when it's placed right next to their food. Still separating food from a water source will generally encourage a cat to drink more. On the internet there is a lot to find about this subject. To give one example: Should A Cat’s Water Be Away from Food? Written by Richard Parker The placement of your cat’s food and water bowls may seem arbitrary. In fact, many owners place the two bowls directly next to each other. While some cats adapt and show no issues with this, others will rebel. Your cat may refuse to drink the water, knock the water dish over, or drop food into its water bowl. Your cat’s water bowl should be placed 3-5 feet away from its food bowl. Many cats cannot stand the scent of food near their water. In the wild, mixing food and water often results in bacterial growth and illness. Cats may also want to drink and eat in different places so that they can hide from predators. Even the act of hunting down the different bowls in different places can feel more natural to a cat. For scared or jumpy cats, it can feel risky to eat and drink in the same place. The best solution is to gradually move the water dish away from the food dish, a few inches at a time. Separating the bowls all at once may distress some cats, especially those that are already protective of their food or water.
Doing a bit of research never hurts. Cats are pretty easy pets, but there's still some new things about cats and how to care that might come as a surprise. And Ansku likes hearts too, she eats pig hearts. If you plan giving raw meat or fish to a cat you might wanna check the amounts and is there possibility to getting salmonella or parasites from it, that's another thing inexperienced new cat owners might not know.
You are absolutely right about the salmonella risk....! That's why I added the last part about 'study'. Sadly it's impossible to put all information in one single video ;)
Your cat looks so much like my cat they could be Sisters. Sadly her look alike Sister passed away when I was in Care One recovering from a broken arm. My Brother was taking care of her and went in to feed her and she was on the floor. We have no idea what happened.
No worries. It's not a must, most probably a cat will drink it anyway. It's recommended though in case a cat doesn't drink enough. I just learned recently that a large paper bag 🛍️ is a good choice of a toy for a new cat because cats like the secure feeling of a hiding place.
