I love Marcy Tilton fabrics! They are pricey but they do have sales. I lived in L.A. and loved Mood Fabrics. So far I’ve been very pleased with everything I ordered online.
I noticed Fabric Mart has raised it’s prices by 40% since the pandemic started. The linen especially was marked at $8-10 before he sale, is now 15-17$..... no deals these days
I'm ALWAYS intrigued by you! This was a wonderful topic I'm sick of Joann and I needed something refreshing. So bravo 👏👏and take a bow!! 👊💘🦋🌹 YOU DID THAT!!!!👊!!
Thanks for this, Kim. Some of these i haven't heard of. I am actually waiting for an order from Girl Charlee. I use Fashion Fabric Club and Mood Fabrics, too. Looking forward to a guest!
My current favorite places to shop for fabric are Hawthorne Supply co, Style Maker, and Mood. I am also finding I am more drawn to woven fabrics with rayon, cotton voile, and linen.
Thanks Kim, very helpful! I like so many of these. I live outside Chicago & need to make a trip to Vogue. Love Sincerely Rylee out of Florida for sweater knits (fab bundles) & Pretty Posh Prints for knits too. I have not yet, but have you tried Raspberry Creek Fabrics (lots of cotton lycra & cute kids prints)?
I really enjoyed your video. I have started to replenish my fabric stash and have been looking for places to purchase fabric online and came across your website. I have tried one of the website that you mentioned- Fabric Mart and I am waiting for my order to come. I got the mystery silk bundle and Sue’s pick. I am going to try all the other ones that you mentioned. Should let you know I am in Alberta, Canada. I will come and watch you again.
Morning Kim, thanks so much for the video, it’s a great resource. While I was still working 2015 I ordered the knit fix from Girl Charlie. I loved it, it pushes you out of your comfort zone, the different types of knits and prints. I did it for four months and built a good knit stash, as I knew when I went retired I wouldn’t have much disposable money. The shipping kills me now. I ordered Sue’s pick from Fabric Mart May 18/20 $2.99 a yard I bought 3 yards. With the exchange rate shipping alone was $25.68. Not good on a fixed income. Oh well, once the boarders are open I will go to one of those mailbox depots then I’d be able to get free shipping. Also a day out with hubby. Win win. Have a great safe happy day. Val🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️
Thank you for this list of online fabric stores. I just started sewing garments and I am always looking for a great deal. You are so nice to watch. Your voice is very relaxing. Thanks again.
I have become a Love Notion sewer too. I am building my stash with the Friday pattern sale. Love your sessions. You have given me great info and I am returning to sewing. Thank you.
Check out Apple Annie’s Fabrics! They’re wonderful, I love them. Small business with expert knowledge, high quality fabrics that are really well priced. Great customer service. (They don’t pay me, I just love them.)
The last time I was going to place an order with Girl Charlee, shipping charges were over $36, so I didn’t place the order. Also, once they sent me a piece of fabric that had a huge flaw (2” hole); it had not been sold as “less than perfect.”
Dorothy’s Daughter Yes, in California. I was able to work around the flaw, so didn’t complain. Also, I live on the east coast and their packages took about two weeks to arrive. The flat rate shipping must have changed since you last ordered.
Joy Bernhardt ordered fabric from this company and the packaging was just atrocious and it was absolutely filthy. She also had fabric that had a flaw in it as well
I was so pleased to find this video from you. I have been fortunate enough to shop and meet the owner of so so English Amanda. Also been fortunate to meet Rogie one of the owners of Vogue fabrics in Chicago. And I was very excited to find new outlets for fabric from you. Thank you so much for all your research and I’ll see you again I’m sure!
This is personal experience with Nick of Time Fabrics. I did recommend them to others until I did not get a refund on fabric that I never received. I eventually contacted the Consumer Protection Agency and six months later I finally received my refund.
I am so hoping they do right by me. After I ordered, I heard a few stories like this. It’s been 15 days since I ordered with unanswered emails. Calling gets you to a full mailbox. I am trying to be understanding during this pandemic. I’ll keep you posted. While I make it my goal not to tear any company down, I sure won’t recommend them if my experience is negative.
I am new to sewing with knits so I don't understand some of the terms and what they are used for. Also, how difficult they are to handle--like ITY and Liverpool--what are they good for and are they easy to handle. Also-brushed poly-is that easy to sew with. I don't have a serger so is it ok to just sew with zig-zag stitch?
I use and/or have heard of several that you mentioned, but am thrilled to say I also learned about a couple I had never heard of. Can’t wait to shop! LOL

Not sure what happened, but I ordered a lot of fabric thinking they matched. They didn’t. So if you are wanting to match something up, ask them, they are very good at customer service.
Thank you for this long list! For the Facebook group, Knit Fabric Destash, does one need to add shipping into the price of the fabric? How is shipping cost handled?
No to Girl Charlie. I was told their French Terry was thick enough to do something with. Nope, four yards wasted. Quality of other fabrics is not good. If you want to make ugly underwear, maybe.
There are different weights to French Terry. Some are for lightweight and some are medium weight. Look at the weight, which is usually listed on the left of the screen with each fabric. I’ve gotten super thick French Terry and also lightweight.
Love your videos! I'm subscribed but cannot get the bell to click. I wanted to let you know there are a few Facebook fabric groups that sell fabric. I run two for mainly woven cotton. I don't want to spam your comment section but would be happy to provide a link or the group names. We should try to stay away from jo-ann's basically we need to stay away from all Fabrics made from China. Jennifer from shabby Fabrics UA-cam channel gave us the countries that make the best fabric. What a fun (and educational) vlog today, Kim! Thanks for the information! My number one issue with online fabric shopping is COLOR/HUE. I've order from many different online sources and rarely is the fabric color (or depth of color; hue) what I'm seeing on my laptop screen. I do a lot of sample ordering these days. Thanks, Kim! I learned about Surge Fabrics when you were doing the Hepburn dress. I purchased the Patterns For Pirates pattern, then went over to Surge for some double-brushed poly. I had a question, and their customer service is great! I love my fabric so much I'm afraid to cut into it :) I also purchased the bra inserts from them, and they were so perfect for my handmade bras, as well as swimsuits, etc., that I went back and bought lots of them! Thanks for the recommendation!
I follow a UA-cam channel called The crafty Gemini, she suggested double brushed polyester for making tops. I really prefer cotton I don't like the heat I don't like the humidity I can't see why she recommended this fabric to me because does it really breathe?
I use Vibes and Scribes in Cork, Ireland and Grandmother's Garden in New Zealand. Both have reasonable (affordable) international shipping costs - also Mauds Fabrics, Australia (I think). Most online USA stores have international shipping costs which are ridiculous. Last one I was looking at buying from was charging $35 for the fabric and $150 for shipping to Ireland, over three times the shipping costs from the other side of the world in New Zealand. I chose to buy from both New Zealand and locally in Cork - free shipping.
