I love it when online fabric stores add videos to their product pages. Really makes such a difference in understanding what you're buying. Also, that gingerbread print is so cute! 🍪
Yes!!! I feel the same way. I look at the pics to make sense if the fabric will be useful on my project or not. Has saved me from getting some really not nice fabrics lol😂.
You're Absolutely Amazing!!! I stopped the video in the middle to order the book and ordered fabric from places mentioned. During high school, I worked at JoAnne Fabrics for 2 years. Although I learned a lot about fabric, I never learned to properly sew. Decades later, I've decided to dive right in...A BIG THANKS to you my friend!!! ❤
I love this information. So many sewists refer to JoAnn Fabrics, which I find very expensive. My best price I’ve found (plus frequent 40% off sales) is Hobby Lobby, but I’ve pretty much purchased every fabric that I like there.
I do shop from time to time at Joann's, but usually that is when I need something right here, right now and I have no time to spare.... all other times I try to avoid it because it can be expensive and the selection in my store is very bad. I do like Hobby Lobby's garment fabric and price too, but again, selection is small and usually I go there when I need something ASAP. I am happy this is helpful for you!
I like Surge fabrics. I get a lot of fabrics from them. Also Mood is good too. Heard of LA Finch but haven't ordered anything from them yet. Great info!
Thank you so much for the tip on the Sandra Betzina book. I found a copy at my local library and grabbed it😜 What a great resource. Have a blessed day. Pam
This is a great video! Thanks for sharing the information and showing us your purchases and makes. I use to live in Cali and enjoyed an occasional trip to Mood. I love the tweeds and looking forward to seeing what you create!
Vogue fabrics, Califabrics, Fabric wholesale Direct and Alyssa May Design are my go-to online sites to purchase fabric. Great prices and good quality fabrics.
I obviously watch your videos after the fact, and I'm glad I found your channel, after seeing your sewing accomplishments, I realized what an excellent seamstress you really are! How long did it take you to get where you are now as a seamstress!
This list really helpful. I buy a lot from Fabric Mart, one time my order got lost in transit and they sent my replacement order overnight! I also order occasionally from Joann because postage costs about the same as driving to the closest, actually there is a $7.00 bridge toll for the closest store. I also order from Michael's, there is a store in my town but they don't have fabric. I like to buy knits from Girl Charlee, they have good prices and excellent sales too.
Great video. You are right about the Fabric Mart emails. They are totally tempting. I have ordered from Surge only once. I like their quality and variety. Dharma Trading Company has a special place in my heart. I think because shopping there sends my creativity into overdrive. Their dyes and Fabric Store linen is a match made in heaven. I found the tweeds interesting. I am looking forward to seeing what you make. I don't think I have ever sewn with tweed.
Hello there! I do not have a PDF for Members with the links to the shops, but they are all linked in the description underneath this video, and so is the Members Extra for the Fabric Savvy book. I hope this helps :)
May I mention one that I have ordered once from? It was a denim mystery box and I was blown away. The company is Nick of Time. They have great sales, and have expanded their mystery box offerings. They have Made in America fabrics, lots of linens, many fabrics at those single digit prices...and if you sign up for their emails, they do not flood your inbox. I have been sorely tempted by their sales. I'm not affiliated, just a happy small customer.
I actually have order a mystery box from them and unfortunately the experience and the fabric hasn't been great. During that order I also reached out to them via email and they never got back to me :(
It is okay, I find that people can from time to time have a bad experience from otherwise good shops. Somebody commented that they had a terrible experience at Fabric Mart, while I never had a problem with them.
95% of the time I work with upcycled and thrifted fabric. But once in a while I need something specific. It boggles my mind the uber-specific fabrics that can be had! There was a mixup with some “angry squirrel” fabric I ordered and the seller promised to give me a freebie of some fabric to make up for her mistake. She sent me beetle fabric that looks like cockroaches. 😂 It’s the ugliest stuff ever but I’ve kept it just in case. It’s too crazy to let go. And recently I needed some fabric to thank a neurologist who operated on our friend’s child. I was making his family some suitcase ID tags. The neurology fabric was totally cool, it showed synapses and neurons in a beautiful way, but they also had urology fabric. Cockroaches and urology-themed cotton, apparently there is a market for it. 🙃
Warning on Fabric Mart is the customer service is horrendous. I have made one order with them and what I got was not what was advertised in the description. I reached out to the customer service department and was treated horrendously. Between shipping to and from their location for the material they would take back plus the cost of the material they would not take back but was unusable this turned into an expensive lesson in online fabric shopping. @Alisa I highly recommend Girl Charlee Fabrics for any knit fabrics you made need. Really great sale pices for amazing quality fabrics.
WOW 6$ for a yard of jersey knit is a steal! in canada jersey knit runs from 25$ for 1/2 a meter! which has stalled me from sewing many garments as its higher to make then to buy made. sad times for sewers.
Hello, I have shopped at GKFasionFabrics (online) large selection of jerseys and all basics, good quality for me as well. The shipping to US-California is expensive, but I wonder if shipping within Canada would be reasonable, take care!
I was watching because I love your approach and find you so interesting, however, I wasn't expecting to hear of any useful sites for me in Ireland. I nearly fell off my chair when you mentioned Eco-Bee! I have seen their site numerous times but haven't come up with a project special enough to splurge yet! Does your Mam have any recommendations for European suppliers? She's living in Europe right?
My Mom does live in Europe, but my Friend is the one who sends me Eco-Bee Fabric and live sin Ireland, she also has a youtube, let me give it to you - she does some amazing sewing and you will be able to see where she gets her fabric - www.youtube.com/@InAgatasCottage
Hi Alisa ,am requesting a beginners friendly button down shirt, (unisex) paper drafting in inches please, also drafting of camp collar and how to put on the collar d easiest way ty🎉.

I wish shopping online was more possible in Canada. Often shipping is ridiculous on top of the currency exchange. Or a lot of places simply don't ship here. I used to LOVE Project Runway until the season the winner basically made a bunch of mumu's and toga's. And was given extra time when her collection wasn't finished in time. I was so disappointed when she won against some way more talented folks. I honestly think it was rigged!
You may want to check out l’oiseau fabrics in Calgary AB. I live in the US, but a Canadian sewing friend buys beautiful fabric from their shop. Happy sewing.
Hi I want to leave a message of love for your day, I want to tell you that nothing is impossible for God, that Jesus Christ loves you, he knows your struggles and wounds, he has his arms open for you, he died and rose again for everyone, to give life to all who believe in him, I want to tell you that a single prayer or conversation with Jesus can change your whole situation believe it, I did it I was not a Christian nor did I attend church he changed everything with love, he is not here to judge you but to give you a new life and a new beginning in his presence, Jesus Christ you ama❤️

Hundred times yes! Video helps a ton. Oh, yes, isn't it cute? I feel it will be a gingerbread filled Christmas this year :)

Wow the tweed packs are lovely 👀🧵
Aren't they? I love them too! I ordered them a while back (maybe even 6 months ago) so I want to get some time and get creative with it :)
Linen is my favorite fabric. I wear it year round. Thanks so much for this video!
Thank you so much for the tip on the Sandra Betzina book. I found a copy at my local library and grabbed it😜 What a great resource. Have a blessed day. Pam
I am so glad this was helpful. That book is great for expanding knowledge about fabrics and techniques. Hope you enjoy it!
I’m so glad you made this video! One reason is; I love tweed! Tweed blazers, tweed pants, coats, I love it all. The tips were very helpful. Thank you
Happy Saturday dear, wow great video, sew many online fabric shops✅🧵
I just love this channel. It made me fall in love with sewing each second

A few people have mentioned Girl Charlee to me - I must try them one of these times :) once I get through my stash :)

Dharma has an excellent rep in both home sewing, historical reenactment, design students…
They truly are great and they have so many great resources on their website, too. I have been shopping with them for years now and always great!

limited choice, as getting online fabric from Northern hemisphere to down-under / Southern hemisphere is ridiculously expensive ☺
